Once upon a time in a land not far from here, there lived a young lady named Katy. She was delightfully witty, extraordinarily kind, and decidedly brilliant. However, young lady Katy had one unmistakably unladylike habit.
She loved blowing bubblegum bubbles and the bubbles got her in quite the predicament. She was invited to visit the queen, in hopes to meet the prince her parents wanted her to go with one rule in mind…..no bubble gum chewing.
And there stood Katy, mid-curtsy, covered in bubblegum goo from her head to her shiny new shoes. And even her pretty purse, too.
The royals burst out laughing. The queen’s corgis giggled. Mum and Dad turned ruby red, doubly troubled by the big blown bubble.
But Katy was tickled pink. “That’s the most magnificent bubblegum bubble I’ve ever seen. It must have been twice the size of the queen!”
I was so very proud of my daughter reading Bubblegum Princess. Many of the words were difficult for a beginning reader, in fact, some of the words I had trouble with. Now I’m not saying she read it perfectly but she never gave up. She kept trying and loved the story. She doesn’t even realize that the characters in the book are real people. Bubblegum Princess. Bubblegum Princess is based on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s fairytale romance, and will be released for sale the day their child is born. It’s a cute story with really fun vibrant illustrations. I wonder what Prince William and Duchess Kate think of the story.
