As artificial intelligence continues to develop, we are seeing it used for both immense advances as well as insidious purposes. We are still in the baby stages right now, which begs the question: What is going to happen next? Cinema has long explored this question in storylines about machines gaining sentience, and now that we are close to it actually happening, it takes on an extra significance. So I will be interested to watch Zoe, a new film that premiered in April at the Tribeca Film Festival and will be released on Amazon Prime Video on July 20th. Starring Ewan McGregor and Léa Seydoux, the movie explores a relationship between a sentient robot and an engineer. Christina Aguilera also appears in a supporting role, which I’m really excited about since I just love her! Watch the first trailer below:

However, their relationship is threatened when Zoe discovers a harsh truth about their relationship, sending them into a tumultuous spiral of confusion, betrayal and the most intense of human emotions, love.
