Woody Harrelson surprised me in our Solo a Star Wars movie interview that Disney provided hotel and transportation for us to attend. Woody Harrelson was much more open about talking about his family and life than I ever thought he would be. He was relaxed and joyful throughout his entire interview. He seems like a really great guy enjoying life and ready to go back to his family and enjoy them.
Woody Harrelson plays the scoundrel known as Beckett in Solo: A Star Wars Story. He gives Solo so very sage advice in the movie. Woody was asked if he is anything like his character in our Solo interview and he said I don’t think I’m a hard ass. He said he wouldn’t be like Becket. Let me put it in his words,
And I think it’s probably good if you’re gonna want to try to make someone into a very street smart Survivor in that Universe, maybe that’s how he had to be. But I wouldn’t be like that. I mean, I’m like the most, i can’t even discipline my own child. I don’t know how to do it because I always say to myself, well I would do that.
About Becket According To Woody
We asked him to describe his character:
he’s complicated in the sense that he doesn’t always, he’s not always as chummy as he could be but I’d say he’s a survivor who really also does have this image of life, wanting to be done with this life of Criminality and ultimately, just be playing the Valicord, living in a remote Planet somewhere.
Woody Harrelson Turned Down Solo
When Woody Harrelson was first approached to be part of Solo, he said no. He has been wanting to go spend some time on vacation and with his family. He said he would like to be in Europe and end up in Maui. The only reason he said yes was because Producer Ali Schermer wouldn’t take no for an answer. He also said it was the same story for Hunger Games.
Working With Alden
Alden was a treat to interview and everyone we talked to at the Solo Press Junket just loves him, including Woody. He said he was a really hard worker. He said that on the set they had little cubicles to rest in and that Alden would be taking piano lessons or reading a novel and Woody would be playing Speed Chess on his phone. He also admired his work ethic and said he was an extraordinary guy.
On Choosing To Be Happy
As I mentioned, Woody is a very jolly person. He was asked about what he wanted his legacy to be and his first response was he hopes it’s the smiling type and not the frowning type. He likes to make people laugh and hopes when people think of him they smile. He also talked about how he feels that he is a pretty genuinely happy person and credits that to gratitude. He said he was grateful for the life he has.
Being A Vegan
He talked a lot about how he gave up dairy and then decided to also give up meat. He had terrible acne and a woman told him he was lactose intolerant and it would clear up in three days if he gave up dairy. And it did. He said he also did a lot of reading and thinking about how other animals don’t need dairy or meat for protein. Maybe being a Vegan is his true secret to happiness.
Today is the day, Solo: A Star Wars Story is now in theaters.
Great interview! I always was a fan of Woody’s acting.
