Disney provided hotel and transportation to the Wrinkle In Time Event and ABC held a few press days while we were there. Alex, Inc. was part of those press days and I have to say one of my favorite shows to watch out of all the shows we previewed.
Alex, Inc. stars Zach Braff who is a very well known comedian. I was just telling my husband that we should try to watch Alex, Inc. tonight because I thought it was very family friendly considering what’s out there for families, this one is so very family friendly. His response was really? I didn’t know Zach Braff could be family friendly. And I told him he can and when we interviewed him I remember him mentioning to us that was an important part of putting Alex, Inc. together.
ALEX, INC. – ABC’s “Alex, Inc.” stars Michael Imperioli as Eddie, Hillary Anne Matthews as Deirdre, Elisha Henig as Ben, Zach Braff as Alex, Audyssie James as Soraya and Tiya Sircar as Rooni. (ABC/Bob D’Amico)
………a theme kept coming up as the producer in me with the little lightbulb……………a theme was………..after dinner, before we put our kids down, there’s not a ton of content that we all wanna watch together………I was dating a woman for a bit who had a nine-year-old and I experienced that. I was like he wants to go watch his shows. We don’t wanna watch that. Like, we only watch Shark Tank together [CHUCKLES] because he happened to love Shark Tank………….and idea in my head…….it feels like to me like that’s an area where there’s more content. Obviously ABC’s great at it with Blackish and Modern Family and stuff like that. So, I felt like a great space to do it.
Alex, Inc. is based off of a podcast, called “Startup”. John Davis, the Alex, Inc. producer asked Zach Braff to listen to this podcast, and see if he wanted to return to acting. He said yes if his friend, Matt Tarses also from Scrubs could write it.
I found myself laughing a lot while watching Alex, Inc. It is a fantastic show, very well written and the kids in the show are epic. Zach even mentioned that he felt like he gets upstaged by the talent of Elisha Henig that plays his son.
One topic in particular that is brought to light in Alex, Inc is the Indian culture. Tiya Sircar who plays Rooni said her parents were Indian Immigrants. So they were consulted and brought in gave everyone a lot of information for them to include in the episodes. She indicated that her parents enjoyed sharing about their culture very much.
You should be sure to give Alex, INC. a try tonight on ABC.
