Yes, oh yes I was sick!
My husband was sick,
And my daughter was sick!
Poor Zoe was sick right before Christmas, she was sick the whole week of Christmas to be exact. And it wasn’t until my dh and I were sick that I realized how very awful she must have felt. You see, we had the flu. Not the stomach flu, thank God, because puking is THE WORST, but the fever, the night sweats, the body ache, the headaches; which by the way, I’ve still been having headaches. I’m thinking of calling the doctor soon and finding out why I still have headaches because I don’t have the flu anymore. And my head is hurting so much, I just want to hide under the covers and not exist at ALL.
Anyways. We were sick!
I could have used Halls! So I ask, where was this for me……
Can you use Halls this year. And when I’m asking I mean, every product they make. That’s right. We’re giving away the ultimate Halls collection of products a 40.00 value. All I had to do to offer you this giveaway was share this survey with you:
A survey was just released about cold and flu season and this kit will help keep moms and their families healthy all year long!
Survey Overview: Americans show up (or at least consider showing up) for work while sick during cold & flu season. Some because they won’t get paid if they don’t go, some because their boss pressures them and others because they simply have too much to do and fear falling behind. Some stats that really stick out are:
· Nearly half of Americans (44 percent) would consider going to work with a fever.
- More than a third of Americans (32 percent) said they would show up to work no matter how sick they get this season.
- Nearly half of Americans (46 percent) said they did not take a sick day last cold & flu season (October 2009 – March 2010).
- One in five Americans (19 percent) feel pressured by their boss or supervisor to head into work when they’re sick.
- One in three (31 percent) Americans said they wouldn’t get paid for taking off on a sick day.
- One in 10 (11 percent) said they would likely fall behind on their bills by taking a sick day.
- More than 10 percent of Americans thought they would not likely receive their next pay raise or promotion, or worse, would lose their job for calling out sick.

I usually encourage them to try unless it’s obvious that they really shouldn’t go… Their school is a bit messed up… they don’t want you to send them if they are sick… but they only allow 10 days per year w/o a Dr note…

Well the school says they have to be 24 hr fever free before they can go back to school. As long as my kids are feeling better and acting better and been fever free at least over night, I will send them to school. But if they are still feeling bad and I can tell, I will keep them home.

I don’t use fever as a sign, because at least a third of H1N1 cases don’t have a fever. If my son acts like he is sick- I can always tell, he won’t eat, is really tired, looks terrible, he stays home.

I homeschool my son but we still have sick days. If he feels sick I know he is sick because no matter how sick he gets he is bouncing off the walls. 🙂
I rarely stay home from work. If I have a cold, I just bring tea & honey and cough/throat drops to work with me. My parents always made me go to school unless I had a fever or was vomiting. I’ll probably do the same when I have my own children.

If I have a fever and need to blow my nose every few seconds I’ll stay home.
If my child is throwing up, going the other way, has a fever over 100, or just plain feels too rotten to move, I would keep him/her home! I would not go into work sick, mostly to keep from giving it to others.
if i’m only a little under the weather i won’t stay home, a full on cold i’m not going anywhere

The rule at my daughter’s kindergarten is that if she is running a fever of 100 or more, she has to be kept home. So when she is sick, I take her temperature before we head for the bus stop, and if she is below 100, I give her some children’s tylenol or advil, and send her on her way.

I ply my self with water and lemon and I will take a cold med every now and again but if that is not working then I will stay home.
Pretty sick cause they never tried to fake it, knew I coild tell! I just had to look in their eyes and could tell how sick they were!
My child loves school so if she tells me she’s too sick to go, I will keep her home. Of course a fever is a sure bet she won’t be going either.
I definitely keep them home if they have a fever, but if I think they’re contagious or they feel miserable they stay home also. It’s no fun going to work or school when you’re sick!

I work for my husband out of a home office-way out in the sticks of Northern NY; when I’m sick, I just sit in front of our woodstove with a decent book and some mulled cranberry punch: Recipe as follows:
Gently brew 1 cup cranberry juice, 1 cinnamon stick, with 2 Tablespoons lemon juice and 1 tablespoon unsulphered molasses. I add grated nutmeg for added flavor. DO NOT boil, as this destroys the vitamin C.
Two cups of this and a nap and I feel much better.

Well, I’m a teacher and you think since I’m on my 10th year of teaching, my tolerance would be up there for me not to get sick. Not the case with me. I see every student in the school (about 700 kiddos) and get sick ALL the time. For me to stay home, I need to either have a fever or strep. Strep happens often, very often. As miserable as I can feel with a cold or cough, I still go in and make sure I’m stocked up on Halls since I have to talk all day. 🙂

I usually will stay home but I have gone to work sick, but only when the symptoms were manageable and I felt I was not contagious.

If they have a fever, they stay home or if they are so miserable that I can tell they aren’t going to get anything accomplished or will be a big distraction to others then they stay home. I never go into work if I have a fever.

Fortunately I can work from home so there is no need for me to miss work.

My rule of thumb for keeping my children home when they are sick is, if they have a fever they stay home. I do not stay home when I am sick, but will if my children are sick at home. 🙂 Thank you.

I will keep my kids home if they have a fever or if they are vomiting. debsweeps4@yahoo.com
I am a stay at home mommy. If my kids have a fever the night before or that morning, I keep them home. Any other time, I take it case by case.
My daughter has to run a fever before I keep her home and I have to go in no matter what 🙁

I will stay home from work if I’m vomiting, have a fever or am coughing to much to even talk. I don’t want to give my sickness to my coworkers and I talk on the phone all day, so I can’t do that while coughing.

I only stay home sick when I’ve got nothing hugely pressing (ie very infrequently). Luckily last time I got sick, I had just finished a huge project and was able to take a few days off.

If I can’t walk or keep my eyes open I won’t go to work.
I stay home and keep my kids home if I think we have something contagious. There is no reason to make the rest of the world sick, right?
There has to be a fever.
If they have a fever or cough that disturbs the peace, then they are home. We have something going around that has hit everyone but me so far. My daughter ended up with pneumonia and in the hospital. We know sick very well this winter.

I usually go with the throw up factor, if they can hold down food, I’ll go to work, if not, I’ll usually stay home.

I’m pretty liberal when it comes to letting my son stay home. He’s only in kindergarten, so if he says he doesn’t feel good and wants to stay home, then I let him. He usually wants to go to school, so I know he’s not feeling well at all if he requests a sick day. I work from home, so I’m working even when I’m sick!

I have to be pretty sick to stay home from work. If my brain functions and I can concentrate it’s worth the effort of making it to work.

I’m a stay at home mom, and my hatss are off to working moms who stay home with thier kids, I don;t see how you do it! Good for you to be there for them.
We have the school let us know if the boys are too sick to go to school (they get their excused absence and we know they really are sick). I never miss work due to illness. In 3 years, I missed less than 3 days of work due to illness. THankyou

We rarely have time available at my job to take off for sickness, which is unfortunate. We share the plague amongst ourselves!
Kid has to have a fever and then severity is gauged.
If I think that they would not be able to concentrate, or if they might get sent home, I will have them stay home.

depends on the ailment… general rule of thumb if you are well enough to play you are well enough to go to school
When my children have a fever and just look worn out from a cold, I let them stay home from school. I make sure they get plenty of sleep and liquids and tons of hugs to help them feel better. I usually stay home from work when I am running a high fever and can feel a really bad cold coming on. I am a teacher so I don’t want to make students sick.

There needs to be a fever, lots of sneezing and sniffling, or other very obvious reasons to stay home…otherwise I send them to school and tell them to have the school call if they feel worse! This never actually happens as they feel better once they get up and start moving.

I let my kids stay home from school when they are not feeling well, I mean it’s just school and all they do is make other kids sick if they go! It’s difficult to learn when you’re not feeling okay…..Now I wouldn’t miss work if I’m sick, I always just go cause I have to but that’s what I have to do cause I’m an adult!

They have to tell me they don’t feel well and seem sick or have a fever.
My girls are pretty up front with me and go to school as much as they can. Reason? If they don’t use their sick days from school – they do get 3 personal days – but only if they haven’t used them up as sick days 🙂 It’s worked so far 🙂

I don’t believe in infecting other people…so if there is fever we stay home…no if and or buts!
I get angry when I go to a store or public place & someone is working there who is sick! Even more angry when days later my whole family is too. I think the key to controling flu outbreaks is people that know they are sick stay home until their fever is gone & not infect other people!..Just my rant!
