There has been a lot of talk in my Facebook world about The Elf on the Shelf. Mainly a speaking up of those strongly opposed, but here’s my thought … What the Elf? Why are there so many haters?
Whoever is participating, whether as a permanent family tradition or a fun temporary fling, why are you calling this STUPID, DUMB, and a “JUST SAY NO” activity? This is a tradition that I’m doing with my family now and I don’t know why so many people are anti-elf; if you don’t want to do it DON’T. Your comments are like, “Hey, I hate your choice in family tradition.” #StopTheHaters and Merry Christmas to all!
If you don’t want to look at elf pictures, don’t. There are a lot of other Christmas pictures online to view: cutting down trees, picking trees in a lot, decorated trees, with Santa, house lights, gingerbread houses, advent calendars, acts of kindness. View what you want. If the elf is something you don’t want to do … great. If the elf is something you do want to do … great.
BUT if you don’t have tradition of The Elf on the Shelf, keep it to yourself and allow the JOY of the season and all traditions live on.

I love Elf on the Shelf! It is such a cute thing to have fun with my nephew and hide the Elf in different places and have him find it. He thinks it is a blast. I think the Elf is cute!
