A while ago, I was talking to a friend about our weekend plans. I made a comment that her young daughter must be glued to Saturday morning cartoons, and my friend reminded me: “We have Netflix, she can watch cartoons any morning.” I marvel at how much our world has changed in the last few years! Not to get all #Only80sKidsWillUnderstand on you youngsters, but back in my day, we were at the mercy of whatever happened to be on TV. I’d wait all week to watch Saturday morning cartoons, and look forward to my FOX Kids shows at 4:00 every weekday – back then, “On Demand” meant having 3 VHS tapes to choose from. Children today will never know the frustration of having Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers pre-empted for OJ Simpson’s bronco chase. Isn’t living in the future great?!
Instead of fighting over whether to turn the channel to Muppet Babies or Smurfs, today’s kids argue over what to stream on their iPad. Fortunately, since you never have to miss anything when all your favorite shows are available any time you want, it makes compromise a lot easier! And thanks to Pinterest, we can turn anything into a game now. Click here to download a fun, printable Netflix spinner that you can give your kids on Saturday – or any other morning – to help decide on the programming!
Before you get too jealous that today’s kids have it so easy, may I point your attention to all the great ’80s cartoons that are on Netflix now?

What was your favorite cartoon growing up? Do your kids give you a blank look when you describe how TV used to work?
