Last week VeggieTales released their newest sensation on DVD. VeggieTales®: Princess and the Pop Star, from Big Idea Entertainment helps young girls understand that we are all created unique and special. Which is something that I’m already trying to make sure that Zoe understands. It surprises me that at such a young age girls already find they are pretty or not or important or not. I want my children to know that GOD loves them just the way they are and so do me and their dad.
VeggieTales: Princess and the Pop Star features plenty of high-energy, family-friendly music, including the new song, “You Never Are,” written and performed by this year’s Dove Award-winning Artist of the Year, Francesca Battistelli. The music was great and the movie was quite cute. Zoe has already watched it three times over the past two weeks.
Movie Synopsis:
Princess Poppyseed’s life on her family’s farm is far from the glamorous but lonely world of her favorite pop singer Vanna Banana. On a chance meeting at a playground, Vanna and Princess cross paths and realize that they look almost exactly alike—which leads to the crazy secret plan where they decide to switch lives! As each girl realizes that the life they longed for doesn’t fulfill all of their dreams, they learn that the life God gave them is the one for which they were uniquely and lovingly designed.
Bonus Features:
- Audio Commentary
- “Astonishing Wigs” Silly Songs Sing-Along
- “Right Where You Belong” Sing-Along
- Behind the music with Francesca Battistelli and Friends
- Princess Poppyseed’s Points For Being Uniquely You

i want my girls to be girls for as long as possible. i do not buy them sexy clothes or allow them to dress older than they should.
It has been a joy to mold my young daughter through mini lessons on being a lady for Jesus. We talk about proper modest dress; being polite and considerate of others even if they don’t treat us the same way; how our joy comes from knowing God and his Son (Jesus); that we can be happy being who we are because we know God made us uniquely special; by having Jesus in our hearts we can see others through His eyes and meet the needs of others in a way that only we can fulfill through sharing God’s love.
Many blessings to you! Thanks for such a darling Giveaway!

I think that girls really need the reinforcement of their parents to put them on the right path for their self-image.

I hate seeing young girls worrying about dressing right and looking right. It takes away their childhood too soon.
I think girls worry too much about self esteem and too little about God esteeming them.

i teach my girls to be ladies at all times
I find my youngest daughter’s concern for how she looks a little bit alarming. At 7, she is already concerned about the clothes she wears and how she looks. I also find it scary that stores are pushing grown up clothing on little girls – really short shorts and skirts, etc.

I don’t like how much pressure there is on girls to flaunt their bodies these days

I really hope we have done a good job, of teaching our daughter she is not defined by what she sees in the media.

I think overexposure to television and movies encourages eating disorders. Hollywood is underweight and is dictating this as the norm. Whenever I see a girl/worman who is actually normal size, I point this out to my children just as I point out ones that are underweight and emphasize that this is not normal or okay.

because of the many influences delivered by media, most girls tend to forget how to stay fit and healthy.
My little girl is a princess…I tell her she’s prefect the way she is and unfortunately its her father and his family that tells her she has to be perfect 🙁

i think it’s important for girls to know that there’s more to life than what you look like
Self esteem needs to be worked on for girls and boys.
I think girls need to be praised more on their intellect than their image. Many times it is our fault that girls are so concerned about their looks. Thanks for the giveaway!

there is too much pressure on little girls.

I think our society pressures our girls to become women far too early.
