Wine does not have to be expensive to be good. I received Two Authentic Portuguese Wines Famega Rose and Quinta de Romeira Arinto and I’ve enjoyed drinking them. I even served one of them to dinner guests and had no complaints.
This is a rose ‘green wine" from the north of Portugal. Like its brisk ‘branco’ brother it is crisp and slightly effervescent but with a nice nuance of roses and berries. This is a great afternoon thirst quencher but keep your glass full when the shellfish hits the table. If you feel you need to dress up the wine try adding some Gin and a splash of coconut rum. I used the Caves da Cerca Famega Rosé and my husbands’ reaction was this is very very expensive wine. It was a pretty amazing combination.
Quinta de Romeira Arinto 2011 is a white wine with fresh acidity and powerful aromatic taste and intensity. The perfect white wine from an interesting variety she’s probably never tried before. SRP$10
I’m not usually a white wine drinker but I did like the crispness and how refreshing it was. It has wonderful hints of honeysuckle and lively citrus.
