The Dell XPS 12 First Impressions #DellXPS

March 1, 2016 by Momstart 26 Comments

A few weeks ago I received a Dell XPS 12 from Dell for review to share with all of you. I’m just now able to share with you my initial thoughts with you. It’s been a crazy couple of weeks. I have been working with the kids to finish school. I traveled to Florida for the Zootopia event then came home to a nasty cold was flat on my back for two days then we moved. So while I as sick I had to throw clothing into bags and make sure the kids had some toys and off we went to Oregon. The good thing about all this though was that the Dell XPS was with me through it all.

image

While I was in Florida I was able to unbox the Dell XPS 12 and create a video of myself doing it. Here’s that video…..

So I made this video over a week ago but while I was at the mercy of the Hotel’s slow upload speed and couldn’t upload it until I got home. Phew!!!

image

Setting up the Dell XPS was a cinch. I had this thing up and running in less than five minutes and that was with the slow hotel connection.

My initial impressions without even looking at tech specks because we will be sure to do that in a post later this week or early next week.

image

The Dell XPS is very responsive

The screen is very well lit and the resolution is fine.

It’s a well built sturdy machine. It’s heavier than my Microsoft Surface which is one of the reasons it feel sturdier. The keyboard is well built seems like it would last a while.

I love all the accessories that they included for me.

The Pen

The backpack (which wasn’t included in the video)

USB-C to HDMI/VGA/USB 3.0 Adapter (which my techy husband says is the best out there

I can’t wait to delve deeper into this machine and let you know what all I love about it. I think the next thing is going to be all about how well it travels. I mean I traveled to Florida and back and then down to Oregon and I’m writing this on it now so yeah, it’s fantastic.

I’ve been working from my phone for months now after my toddler spilled water all over my MacBook. Saving up to see what laptop would work best: another MacBook, or another, more cheaper option.

Please let us know whether or not you can do a lot with it. I’m always designing things on my blog and for social promo, so it would be nice to get an idea of what I can and can’t do on this machine.

I think having a pen for a tablet is a must – I don’t know what I would do without some sort of stylus to make life easier on a responsive screen. I like the added prop-up that the Dell XPS comes with.

I LOVE my Dell XPS 🙂 It’s about 5 years old, and they are built so well that they last a long time. I even dropped this one (don’t try this at home) fairly badly, and it bounced back. I totally recommend the XPS 🙂
