I recently paid a visit to Lake Tahoe for an introduction to the 2016 Kia Sorento. I’ve driven earlier models of the Sorento and was excited to see what updates they had made since I last took one for a spin!
After getting a quick briefing on the 2016 model at a press conference, I hopped behind the wheel with my friend Kristen to give the vehicle a spin around the lake. There was a lot on our itinerary and we were on a bit of a time crunch in order to pack it all in; I was also driving in a location I’d never been to before, winding around Lake Tahoe and dodging construction. So the fact that I was able to hop in a brand new car, a model which I’d never driven before, and navigate it comfortably through any circumstance speaks volumes to the vehicle’s drivability.
Although this is a SUV, it didn’t feel like a behemoth to me; I tend to drive smaller cars, but I felt comfortable with the visibility in the 2016 Sorento and that’s really important to me. I set the car on cruise control and enjoyed the smooth, comfortable ride around some of the most breathtaking scenery in the country.
I’ve always been impressed by the number of features available in the Sorento, and the 2016 is no exception – features include:
- Intelligent Dynamax All-Wheel Drive System
- Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC)
- Rear view camera system
- Back-up warning system
- EcoMinder® Fuel-Efficiency Indicator
- 8″ navigation screen
- 12-Speaker 640 Watt Premium Infinity Audio System
These are just a few of the standout features that make this model so enjoyable to drive.
In addition to our test drive, we also rode in a 2016 Sorento to and from the airport, and piled in as we headed down to Lake Tahoe for an exciting afternoon of kayaking. It’s spacious enough to load up with all your gear and friends, and rugged enough to feel at ease driving in various terrain. It even has a kayak attachment for the roof! Wherever your year takes you, the 2016 Kia Sorento is the perfect vehicle for any summer adventure!
