Take Your Kids Imagination Around the World for $1 per hour!

There are few things I love more than traveling and doing crafty projects. This summer, Michael’s (one of my favorite places) is combining the two in a manner my kids thoroughly enjoy – The Passport to Imagination Program. Each week for seven weeks, my kids get to ‘visit’ a new and different continent while learning a little history and making a fun and clever craft related to that area.

The first week we went, they were talking about North America. The girls were so excited. Our In-Class project was a God’s Eye like they might make in Mexico and the Swap project was a Liberty Bell pin, complete with a crack and everything. They were also interested in the At-Home project, a Loom Woven Rug as they called it (or back when I was a kid, hot pads 😉 ) so I think we will be doing that later this summer at home.

When we arrived, I signed them in and paid the cashier the awesome total of $6 – $2 per kid for 2 HOURS! The manager that is in charge of our classes is so good with kids and before long, all 15-18 kids in the group were happily creating away. Paris caught on to the God’s Eye really quickly and helped Paige and anyone else who asked.

By the time we were done, the kids got to paint, choose their yarn, wrap it as well as a chenille stem and even draw their own ‘crack’ in their Liberty Bell. The teachers (and Moms who stayed to help) helped with the hot glue gun, measuring out the yarn and putting the back on the Bell. Over all, it seemed like everyone, not just my girls, had a fun time and might have even learned a thing or two. I know my girls couldn’t wait to come again!

If you have not made it there yet, there’s still plenty of time for summer crafting at Michael’s with Passport to Imagination. Classes run 3 times a week through August 2nd. Here’s the travel itinerary:

Week 2 (June 24, 26, 28) – South America
Week 3 (July 1, 3, 5) – Asia
Week 4 (July 8, 10, 12) – Europe
Week 5 (July 15, 17, 19) – Africa
Week 6 (July 22, 24, 26) – Australia
Week 7 (July 29, 31, August 2) – Antarctica
