Everybody Wants a Zhu Zhu Nursery.

May 27, 2011 by Momstart 1 Comment

Almost two years ago we held our first Zhu Zhu party. We had Zhu Zhu’s to give to everyone that came to the party that day and even had some left over. Of course, that was even before they were a top selling Christmas gift that was hard to find. I remember seeing them on sale on the internet for outrageous prices because they were so darn popular. What’s not to love, from a parenting perspective it’s a pet your child can have that the only maintenance needed is a new battery or a detangling. My daughter got her hair stuck in the wheels the first year. Now though, she’s old enough to know better and for one of their expansion sets. The Zhu Zhu Newborn Nursery!

IMG_0334

The Newborn Nursery is among slew of Zhu Zhu spin offs. You can find Zhu Zhu Puppies/Pets, Zhu Zhu Princess, and Kung Zhu which is really cool for boys. I saw them at BlogHer and they are very manly for hamsters. The Zhu Zhu babies are an easy sell for little girls. First it’s a pet, all little kids want a pet they can play with. Well this pet is ok if they forget to feed it, or talk to it or love it. It’s also ok if you lose some of the many little pieces. They’re just FUN. Each Zhu Zhu Baby comes with a little crib, a baby blanket a bottle and a little toy, so you can play with it, pretend to feed it and soothe it. The size of the Zhu Zhu baby is about 1/4 of the size of a regular Zhu Zhu pet but 100 % of the same fun, just geared towards what little girls like to do. Dress up, imaginative play, and sharing and trading with friends.

The interesting thing is that they do kinda roll around. Check out the bottom of the Zhu Zhu baby. There is a metal ball in the bottom that makes them kinda rolly.

Disclosure: we received samples from Mom Select on Behalf of Zhu Zhu and Cepia, LLC. Zhu Zhu has been very charitable in the past and we love working with them.

Random Acts of Zhu Visited the Seattle Tweet Drive

December 22, 2010 by Momstart 2 Comments

It wasn’t until I was reading Random Acts of Zhu Blessing in A Backpack on my friend Connie’s site that I realized Zhu Zhu chose 100 bloggers to participate in Random Acts of Zhu.

“The makers of Zhu Zhu Pets and Kung Zhu, Cepia, LLC, chose 100 bloggers to donate 104 Zhu Zhu Pets to local non-profits that provide toys to needy children.”

The Assignment:

We (the bloggers) were provided with 104 Zhu Zhu Pets. Do that math (100 x 104) 10,400 were given to charity! OH My for Charity! We were told to give them to a charity that means something to us and share our experience.

My Experience was amazing, and helped lead to over 330 toys being donated to Treehouse in Seattle. I wrote about the Seattle Tweet Drive previously. Club Sur donated the venue and food. It was a fun night where fellow tweeters tweeted for charity!

The Result:

Here are the toys:

These toys are now with Treehouse. Treehouse is a charity for Orphans and Foster Families who need extra support in our community. The children will actually be allowed to go shopping and pick out what they want.

The most challenging part of giving all of the Zhu Zhu pets away was explaining to my 2 year old, who LOVES these critters, that he can’t keep any of them.

Thank you Zhu Zhu and Cepia, LLC for allowing us to partake in such a wonderful giving campaign!

Seattle #TweetDrive 2010 Almost Wordless Wednesday

December 14, 2010 by Momstart 17 Comments

I LOVE using my influence on-line to make a difference in my community. Last week we had a tweet up in Seattle and I helped gather swag, donations and door prizes. The event was the Seattle Tweet Drive. I posted in detail about the Seattle Tweetdrive a few weeks ago when I started looking for sponsors and I’m so happy with all the companies that supported us. See the full list below! We had a great turnout and Look at what we did for the charity Treehouse! I’m exhausted and extremely behind on my blog posts, but I feel great because it was all for a really great cause. Club Sur donated the space, My Seattle Night Out organized the event, and local bands and entertainers donated their time and efforts for all of us to have a great time! We gathered around 333 toys total! Tweet Drive is going on nationally in many different locations, check Tweet Drive 2010 to find a location next to you.

Just a Few Last Minute Easter Basket Ideas

March 31, 2010 by Momstart 3 Comments

If you are like me you have not purchased your Easter Baskets for your kids yet and you probably won’t do anything about it until Friday or Saturday. So where are the sales and what are you getting?

HEXBUG Micro Robotic Creatures would make a great addition to an Easter Basket!

We received one of these little creatures to use as a donation. We gave it to the Eastside Domestic Violence Shelter. I hope that they are able to find a child to give it to or use it in their upcoming auction. The HEXBUG creatures come in 5 different colors and 5 different creatures. We have also tried out the nano. The nano is 9.99 and the HEXBUG’s are 11.99.

Toy Story 1 & 2 Blu-ray Combo Packs, if you can wait until Easter. We couldn’t wait, we purchased them the week they were released. Best of all, they come with movie tickets to see Toy Story Three!

My daughter requested these (Hide ‘Em & Find ‘Em Eggs) and I had an offer to review them, but I just didn’t think I would have the time to play with them before Easter arrived and give them their own post. But according to friends that are reviewing them, they are worth mentioning in an Easter Basket Roundup.

Last spring, parents hunted for Techno Source’s Hide ‘Em & Find ‘Em Eggs™, which sold out by Easter.  These popular electronic eggs that talk, giggle, and make silly noises are back and available at even more retailers nationwide.

Hide ‘Em & Find ‘Em Eggs put a super fun twist on the standard egg hunt game.  Simply press the on/off button on the eggs and hide them in creative places to start the egg hunt fun.  For up to 30 minutes, or until the eggs are found, they will shout phrases such as, “Yoo-hoo, I’m hiding!” and “I’m Over Here.”  Once they are found, open them up to see the cute bunny or baby chick inside and hear them say, “Surprise, You Found Me!” Eggs come in six different colors: pink, blue, purple, yellow, green and orange.  They have enough room inside to hide candy or small prizes and can be hidden indoor or outdoor for year-round fun.  Batteries included.

Hide ‘Em & Find ‘Em Eggs will be available for purchase at Kmart, Rite Aid, ShopKo, Target, Toys “R” Us, Walgreens, Wal-mart, and Wegmans stores nationwide, as well as online at Amazon.com.  Eggs are sold individually ($4.99) and as a 4-pack ($14.99).  Appropriate for children ages 2 and up.

Zhu Zhu Pets are lots of fun as long as you don’t let your children put them on their head. My daughter got her hair stuck in one and we had to take it apart to get her hair out.

Last Year Zhu Zhu pets sent us the entire set so that we could through a Zhu Zhu Pets party. It was a lot of fun and everyone went home with a pet and one lucky mom went home with the entire playground.
