Washington State Parks system turns 100 this year and we have been asked to help spread the word. We LOVE visiting the Washington State parks for hiking, camping and playing in the snow so we want everyone to know about the celebration!
The guys at Washington State Parks appreciate have this fantastic new contest just for kids! The purpose of the contest is to help kids learn more about our beautiful parks and the fun activities available here in Washington.
They started the contest, “Where in Washington is Eager Beaver?” , last Saturday with their first post on their blog www.AdventureAwaits.com. There’s still time to submit an answer to the first post, picture and story. For this week’s featured park, your response must be submitted no later than Thursday, January 10 at midnight.
Each week between now and March 16, 2013, they will have a blog post with a picture of mascot Eager Beaver at a Washington state park. The first person to correctly identify what state park Eager Beaver’s picture was taken at AND submit a photo and story from a trip to this park wins a Junior Ranger gift pack – including a youth size limited edition park t-shirt, a park poster and more! And, for the lucky parent, a 2013 Parks Centennial Calendar (a $20 value)!
When we went camping this past summer the kids loved visiting the ranger station and learning about keeping the beaches clean. It’s programs like these that make the state parks so much fun, so I encourage you to check out one of the local parks.
