New HTC ONE Exclusive at Verizon BOGO For 16 Days #VZWBuzz

March 25, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

HTC is updating its flagship HTC One smartphone by giving it a larger screen, better software and a camera that’s easier to use. It’s an amazing phone and it’s exclusive to Verizon Stores for 16 Days starting today at 1PM Eastern. That’s really soon!

image

The new phone has a screen measuring 5 inches diagonally, up from 4.7 inches in last year’s model. It will help software improvements designed to anticipate your needs, such as offering lunch recommendations when it’s time for lunch. That will come through HTC’s hub for personalized content, known as BlinkFeed. BlinkFeed itself will be more colorful and will continue to present news, social media updates and other items of interest.

The new HTC One has a 4 megapixel rear camera, which is low for high-end smartphones. Instead, HTC focuses on making the individual pixel sensors larger, so that they can capture more light and offer better shots in low-light settings. The front camera, for selfies, is improved, though at 5 megapixels, compared with 2.1 megapixels before. Plus the features like being able to change the depth of your photo sounds really cool. I mean this camera is going to take amazing photos. The new phone also makes it easier to use the camera’s Zoe assistant, which takes several shots over a few seconds and lets you pick the best ones. It also lets you save frequently used combinations of manual settings, so that you don’t miss the shot trying to set it each time.

HTC BoomSound™ offers really big sound. Bring your music and movies to life with two stereo speakers cleverly placed on the front of the phone that combine with dedicated amplifiers to deliver clear, balanced, powerful sound.

HTC has given the user experience a stylish new overhaul with HTC Sense 6. It’s bolder, cleaner, and more colorful. Enhanced gesture recognition makes access to your phone faster and easier, and it allows you to interact with your phone in ways you never thought possible using Motion Launch™ gestures.

It will be offered at 199.00 for a buy one Get One Free (bogo) with a contract and using the edge program about 21.00 a month .

Experience the Motox: A Make Your Own Phone #MotoX #VZWBuzz

December 29, 2013 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Have you ever wanted to design your own phone? Motorola knows that’s what everyone wants to do and at only $99. You can design your own phone with colors upon colors with the Motomaker. Make your own Motox.

imageThe Motomaker has been appearing at football games and other events in Seattle and probably other metropolitan areas around the US.

IMG_0012

They invite you in with fun swag, like gloves and glasses and koozies. I love the gloves.

IMG_0013

I was able to have a little fun inside the van. This is the first time I’ve been able to pick out the colors of a phone, and it’s so much fun and a really great price. I went over to Verizon before Christmas and designed my own phone. Of course you can design your own phone too just by going to the Motomaker webpage.

image

There are so many colors. I picked Raspberry for the outside and white for the front.

image

Then on the back you can inscribe up to 20 characters. This phone here says Go Seahawks, my phone says MomStart. It’s great to have my name on my phone. It’s also nice to have a phone that is different from everyone else’s. It seems like everyone I know has an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy. Then we all look our phones like whose is whose.

image

SO this is what you do.

imagePick the back,

Pick the front

Pick an accent

Pick a Signature (MomStart)

Then you can select memory, what your phone says when you power it on and wallpaper. You can even go ahead and sync up your google account so your phone already comes with your account loaded on it. WOOT. It just saves you a few steps.

The last step you can pick out accessories but they are extra.

The estimated delivery date is 8 days but I got my phone in like three. They might be a little slower right now because it’s so close to Christmas. But you never know.

Have fun making your own phone.

Traveling And Keeping Your House Safe: Belkin Wemo Switch #VZWBuzz

November 18, 2013 by Momstart 1 Comment

The crime rate in our area has been going up. Houses are being broken into as are cars left outside the garage. We even had someone driving around at about 2 am just breaking into cars. So when someone travels it puts us all on alert. On thing I’ve heard of doing is timing your lights to go on and off in different rooms, but I didn’t know how to do that. Verizon sent me a product that will help, the Belkin Wemo Switch.

IMG_9563

The Wemo Switch is pretty cool because you can program it with you phone when to go on and off. By placing lamps or other lights into it and changing the time it makes it look like someone is home if you’re away for an extended period of time. I put this particular Wemo switch in my bathroom. How does it work?

The Wi-Fi enabled WeMo Insight Switch connects your home appliances and electronic devices to your Wi-Fi network, allowing you to turn devices on or off, program customized notifications, and change device status–from anywhere. WeMo Insight Switch can monitor your electronics and will send information about the device’s energy usage directly to your smartphone or tablet. Perfect to pair with space heaters, wall A/C units, TVs, washers, dryers, fans, lights and more.

IMG_9564

You can even monitor energy usage. My husband loves to know how much energy each appliance is using. Download the free WeMo App to as many smartphones and tablets as you like to create rules and custom schedules. The WeMo App can be as flexible as you need and allows you to create rules that are easy to set up and can easily be changed. You can even receive notifications that are personalized to meet your needs.Download the free WeMo App to as many smartphones and tablets as you like to create rules and custom schedules. Father Son Project: Switching Out The Thermostat to the Nest #VZWBuzz

November 3, 2013 by Momstart 2 Comments

The Nest Learning Thermostat learns what temperatures you like, turns itself down when you’re away and can be controlled from anywhere over Wi-Fi. As a Verizon Wireless Ambassador I received a Nest to review and at first it didn’t work. We played with settings for two days  and just couldn’t get it to work. My husband even checked the wiring. Then when he was going to switch back to our old thermostat he took a closer look at our old thermostat and noticed that there were codes for heat pump on the outside and harder to read on the inside were codes for the ac/heater combo unit. OOPS. The wiring was wrong. After fixing the wiring, the Nest worked. IMG_9136

We have the Nest programmed to keep the house between 70 and 73 when we are home and that’s a great feature that will help us save money. It’s also really cool being able to control The Nest and our home temperature from the phone. We have friends that have Nests in their homes and all they could do was rave and rave about their nests, so I’m so glad we were able to figure out what we did wrong and get ours going, and I have to agree it’s a pretty cool device.

What was really fun was that my husband used this opportunity as a bonding experience with his son. Miles loves to take things apart and figure out how they work. My husband was the same way as a child and really understands Miles’ need to explore. Together they took the old thermostat off the wall and then installed the Nest. It was fun listening and watching them work together.

Plus Miles really felt like he accomplished something, which is another reason I’m so glad it gets to stay up on the wall. Miles knows he did that, he helped dad put up the new thermostat. So did you notice that above I said the Nest keeps the house at the temperature we want it at when we are home? It has a sensor that lets it know you are there. You don’t have to use that setting but it’s pretty cool, really cool for people like our neighbors who work during the day. It only comes on when they are home and it learns. It’s so cool that it notices your patterns and programs itself. AWESOME.

It also has a lock on it. So let’s say you have a rental home and you don’t want your guests to set the temperature really really low and then leave it that way, or set it really really high and leave it that way. It’s really a smart device created to help home owners save money on heating and cooling costs.

I’m Crushing, Emailing and Organizing Samsung Galaxy S4 #VZWBuzz

August 29, 2013 by Momstart Leave a Comment

WOW, my phone is my central piece, I feel like my hand is naked if it’s not there as I need to have certain information at my fingertips. I have to be able to call my mom and every since my grandmother died we’re quite connected. My whole family on that side is so much closer now and we text each other once a day for some of us and once a month for the rest of us which is much more than it used to be.

image

My Samsung Galaxy S4 is keeping me organized by allowing me to view my e-mail all the time as everything I do comes at me through an e-mail. I use evite app and the calendar app to keep up with my appointments and invitations and I also use eventbrite. At church I use an app called planning center and I love having it on my phone. I can view the entire lesson that I’m going to teach for that Sunday without having to print anything off. I’m also able to see what the pastor is going to be preaching about and what all the songs are that we’re going to be singing. It’s an amazing app that keeps the whole church from the nursery to big church all on the same page and it’s all in the palm of my Samsung Galaxy S4.

I’m also quite addicted to candy crush. In between using my phone to keep me organized, answering e-mail and checking appointments I’m playing Candy Crush. I’m currently stuck on level 123, I can’t figure out how to beat it. Usually when I get stuck on a level I’ll do an internet search and try to find tips on how to beat the level but with just getting back from vacation I’m sort of A LOT behind on work. You should see how many blog reviews I have stacked up on my kitchen table. Speaking of that, I think I’m going to take a Candy Crush break anyway, bye for now as I go play some more on my Galaxy S4.

Fresh Flowers At The Florist Captured By Samsung Galaxy S4 #VZWBuzz

July 24, 2013 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Last month I was visiting my sister in Austin and she loves fresh flowers. She loves flowers period, I remember when she was a little girl she couldn’t help but pick the flowers in the neighbors yard. She would pick flowers from anywhere and bring them home and put them in a tiny glass of water. Now that she’s all grown up she buys them fresh at the florist. While I was looking at flowers with her, I took these shots with the Samsung Galaxy S4.
