Unique Things Remembered Birthday Ideas

September 25, 2011 by Momstart 156 Comments

Things Remembered is featuring some really cute items as unique birthday presents. I found many of them so cute it was hard to pick one to focus on for a review. Since something we’re working on at home is saving money, and my son doesn’t have a cute piggy bank, I finally ended up choosing the Silver-Plated train bank and had them engrave I think I can on it. It’s ADORABLE.

IMG_4727

Silver-Plated Train Bank – It’s never too early to teach children the value of saving. This adorable train design makes it fun, featuring intricate train detailing to look like the real thing. For easy removal of money from the bank, there is a plastic cover on the bottom. Be sure to engrave a name and date for a treasured keepsake.

He’s going to be saving lots of quarters in this little train.

Other Unique ideas from Things Remembered.

Retractable Ear Buds – Teens can’t live without their music. When they’re rocking out with their mp3 player or iPod, pristine sound is good – tangled cords not so much. Just give the cord a little pull, and both sides retract into the housing. No tangles! The rubber buds fit comfortably in the ear, and the gunmetal look is as cool as the music on your favorite fan’s playlist. Engrave it with a special message and your gift is guaranteed to be a big hit.

Kids’ Silly Sac Bags – This charming bag is a practical but fun gift for kids. Great for school, sleepovers or day trips, these “silly” bags can be embroidered with his or her name on the belly to make it even cuter. Choose from the Monkey or the Turtle bag, each equipped with a side zipper, adjustable straps and a mesh body. They’re as precious as all the little things kids will stuff it with. Available online only.

Birthstone Key Necklace – A great gift for moms, this necklace also lets her celebrate her loved ones’ birthdays, too. Each polished sterling silver heart key can be customized with the birthstone and engraved with the initials of her soul mate, her children or anyone else she wants to keep close. Available in multiple key/birthstone configurations. Choose up to 3 keys/birthstones for review.

Friends Shadowbox Water Globe – How do you tell a friend how much she means to you? This handcrafted water globe commemorates the special times you’ve shared in a unique way. A tiny friends "shadowbox" inside the globe contains the sentiment, "By my side no matter what I do. I’m so lucky to have a friend like you". The globe rests upon a silver-plated base that can be engraved with your best friend’s name or a special message of your own. Plus, it’s musical, playing Bach’s Minuet No.1.

Sports Tankards – If he’s a sports fanatic, these drink tankards are sure to raise a toast from your #1 fan. Choose from NFL Tankards or NCAA Mugs, emblazoned with the colors and logo of his favorite team. These robust mugs safely hold his favorite beverage, plus they can be engraved on the back. Add your favorite fan’s name and you’ve got a gift that they’ll show off all year long.

This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to the winner, ShellieAndBrutus.

Things Remembered Mother’s Day Giveaway

April 28, 2011 by Momstart 175 Comments

The month of May is such a wonderful month. It’s my birthday (no, I won’t tell you how old I am) and it’s Mother’s Day. Picking out the perfect gift for mom can be a daunting task. I know for me, I always tell my husband not to spend any money on me, but he does anyways and it makes me happy.

One of my favorite brands that I get to work with here on my blog is Things Remembered. They have the best products and make it so easy to personalize something. I was asked to pick something out for myself or a mom I know and well, I couldn’t follow directions. My daughter, loves jewelry right now. I mean, she’s a little princess and wears something every day. I found the Things Remembered Fashion Birthstone Necklace and knew that she would love it. We’re saving it for a special occasion…just look at it:

Personalized Deck of Cards Things Remembered Giveaway

November 19, 2010 by Momstart 117 Comments

This year thanks to Things Remembered I was able to get my husband something extra special for Christmas. Don’t worry, I’m not ruining the surprise because I already gave it to him. We love to play cards together, our favorite game being Canasta. We can play for hours taking turns just decimating each other. We have a hard time not going for the huge jackpot, but it’s when the other one is being sneaky and goes out early without going all in, that one of us gets in trouble and ends up in the negative. So, I knew that a personalized deck of cards and matching case would be the perfect gift for him.

The cards are a great quality and we had a ton of fun playing. The only difficulty in playing with these is that you have to remember that hearts and diamonds are red and spades and clubs are black. But that only pertains to games that are color dependent.

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

May 3, 2010 by Momstart 13 Comments

Mother’s day is one week from today, what are you getting your mom? I have quite a few different great ideas I wanted to share with everyone. Find Mother’s Day gift ideas categorized by Special gift ideas, Bathroom, Kitchen, Office and of course Traditional. For Personally reviewed items check out  Mother’s Day gift ideas.x

Special:

vivabox is a unique experience for anyone. With vivabox, you purchase the box and it comes with a few themed items and then with a gift card for the recipient to finish it off by ordering things they want within that theme that you purchased for them. For example, give mom a wine tasting experience. She will receieve, a Gift card for a six bottle collection of wines, book: wine’s spectator’s essentials of wine and 12 issues of “Wine Spectator” Magazine. Then she can go on and pick the wine collection of her choice at vivabox. The variety is pretty good in my opinion.

Through Mother’s Day use “mom2010” to receive 20% off a vivabox for their mom. Once that purchase is made, an email will be sent with a top secret discount code giving you access to 40% off another vivabox for their mother-in-law or another special woman in their life.

Also, if you’re pulling together a round-up of Mother’s Day gifts for this holiday, I think vivabox could be a great addition.  For more information, check out the vast array of new products at www.vivaboxusa.com.

Verdi Spumante is a champagne options that makes any Mother’s Day fun and tasty, without the expense of a French champagne.  You can use it to either tip back a glass or make a sweet dessert dish with your favorite mother. Verdi Spumante entices the taste buds and offers recipes on their website to increase your sensational experience.

Verdi Bellini Cocktail

  • 3 oz. puree from canned California Cling Peaches
  • Verdi
  • Dash lemon juice
  • maraschino liqueur  to taste

Mixing instructions:

Puree ripe peaches in a blender and spoon into a large, chilled wine goblet. Sprinkle with lemon juice and sweeten with maraschino liqueur. Fill with ice cold Verdi. You can substitute peach juice or peach nectar for the peach puree.

Dinner Out:

Even if you want to avoid the Sunday crowds that Mother’s day creates, you can always present mom with a gift card for Mother’s Day or take her out some of my favorites:

Cheesecake Factory, Abuelo’s, Red Robin, and IHOP.

Speaking of IHOP, they launched their "I clip_image001 Mom" promotion which gives you the chance to receive a $100 IHOP gift card to take mom out on her big day. The contest coincides with the launch of IHOP’s craveable cheesecake Pancake Stackers, perfect for the cheesecake fan like me.

Bathroom:

Skin Care System: Clarisonic MiaThe Clarisonic has been one of my favorite products that I have reviewed since I started blogging two years ago. It’s a great sonic powered facial cleanser. With soft brushes you can gently exfoliate your skin and feel like you are being pampered at the spa. *

There are many “natural” skincare products on the market, but few are rated by the Environmental Working Group with “0” toxicity. Skin Free Skincare has that honor. Created by a practicing pharmacist in response to patient’s needs, this line is safe, effective, and affordable. In addition to the Skin Free line, found at www.skinfree.net, they also offer their original Blue Ridge Gypsy Studio line. The Blue Ridge Gypsy products offer the same safe formulations with the addition of organic essential oils. They are found at www.blueridgegypsy.com.

Traditional:

Flowers:

1-800Flowers is your one stop place for the perfect flower arrangement. You can order from the comfort of you home and have it delivered to any other state. They make beautiful arrangements that are befitting of any motherly type, from Do-it-all moms, to red carpet moms, any personality can be expressed. *

Chocolate:

Keepsake CollectionSee’s Candies are a local company and it is so hard to resist because you can get a free piece of chocolate on every visit. There is a huge variety of mouth-watering sweets that satisfy any craving. Give Mom the gift of indulgence with the new line of chocolates from the Keepsake Collection. Featuring both classic flavors as well as the new Strawberry Truffle, this line perfectly coincides with Mother’s Day with pink, yellow and orange designs brightening up the boxes.

Godiva is of course one of my favorite chocolate brands. They are so rich and indulgent with truffles, candy bars, and deep dark chocolate. Now you can even purchase cake, cupcakes, and other baking goodies like brownies. Spoil mom with a chocolate tower of ultimate decadence. .

Clothing:

Zappos even has a gift page with some great gift ideas! And if Mom is already an avid Zappos shopper, she knows there are always new products, brands and styles available at Zappos.com.

Things Remembered Mother’s Day Giveaway

April 22, 2010 by Momstart 320 Comments

When thinking of what to get mom for Mother’s Day, personalized items are high on the list. Making something personal, or by hand is always loved by mom, adding a photo or just the right words makes any gift very personal. I’ve been working with Things Remembered since I started blogging. They provided me a necklace last year for Mother’s Day and when they asked me if I wanted to work with them again this year, I said yes, I would love to.

Last Year I received The Story Charm for Mother’s Day from Things Remembered:

The Story CharmGirl's May Birthstone Angel Necklace with FREE Keepsake Box

Give the gift that tells her story! Our exclusive silver-plated charms are the perfect gift to celebrate her life. Choose the charms that give voice to her love for family and friends, her special achievements, her hobbies, her passions–everything that make her the woman she is. Personalize each charm with memorable names and dates, favorite quotes–all the words of her unique story. Our charms look fabulous on our special bracelet with toggle clasp or on our diamond-cut ball chain necklace.

Their jewelry is sterling silver and they do make a few gold pieces as well. Gifts can be customized for any event, engagement, wedding, birthday, graduation, the sky is the limit here. It comes out beautiful and easy to read. It doesn’t fade over time because it’s engraved.

I also received a personalized item for Christmas that my husband and I decided to donate.

Things Remembered (40)

This year Things Remembered has two items they wish to recommend for Mother’s Day.

–Customizable Music Box – Did mom sing to you as a child? Relive those memories with a gift of song. A new collection of customizable music boxes plays clips of actual artist recordings – complete with lyrics, instruments and vocals – making them different from traditional music boxes that merely play a tune. One fitting option for Mother’s Day is the classic “I Just Called to Say I Love You” by Stevie Wonder.

musicbox

–Sterling Silver Miracle of Life Necklace – The moment her children were conceived, she thought of each as a miracle. This beautifully detailed sterling silver necklace features an embracing mother and child figurine within a sparkling cut-out crystal heart. The pendant swings in front of a solid hart pendant, which can be engraved with a special message.

  thingsrememberd

Out of these two options I would prefer the necklace. So guess what, Things Remembered is offering one of my readers the Sterling Silver Miracle of Life Necklace.

In addition to the giveaway:

Want you and your kids to be featured in a Things Remembered e-mail? In addition to my giveaway, Things Remembered is asking moms to submit their favorite family photo, along with an engraving they’d pick to go with it on a picture frame. Ten moms will receive free personalized frames, and the best photo/engraving will be featured in a Things Remembered e-mail! http://bit.ly/ciO8nY

Things Remembered Christmas Gift Ideas #giveaway

October 31, 2009 by Momstart 202 Comments

Things Remembered gave me a necklace for mother’s day and I was very excited about it. I have worn it every day since then.

Recently Things Remembered has provided me with a gift guide for Christmas. Here are the options:

teddybear –Max the “Make-A-Wish” Bear – Household budgets may be stretched, but consumers still want to support charitable organizations and give really great gifts. Now they can do both! Things Remembered celebrates its 12-year partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation with five exclusive gifts benefitting the Foundation, including Max, a fluffy white teddy bear. Max holds a delicate water globe in his paws with a message that reads “Wishes from the Heart.” A story card explains how Max brings and shares wishes with others. For every Make-A-Wish product sold, $2 will be donated back to the Foundation. View a photo of Max and all the Make-A-Wish gifts at .

-Custom Couture Jewelry Collection – A new custom accessory! Gift givers first choose a bracelet or necklace in one of five designs, including a pearl or beaded chain. Then they add one of three engravable pendants and finish the accessory with a miniature, sparkling birthstone pendant, initial pendant with pearl accent, and/or one of six miniature charms, including a star, angel, cross, heart, butterfly or key. One sheet explaining the line attached.

Black Memory Stick Key Chain –Push USB Drive – Personalized USB drives were among Things Remembered’s best sellers last holiday season. This year there’s a new kid on the block – a silver-plated and black matte key chain featuring a sleek, push-out USB drive that holds up to one gig of information without taking up a lot of physical space. Great for guys!

–Race Car Water Globe – Great for little boys, this water globe is shaped like a race car and doubles as a toy with its movable wheels. A water globe sits atop the driver’s seat and houses a photo of your little guy to make it look like he’s driving the car. The metallic silver body is accented with blue tints and racing stripes.

They sent me a Race Car Water Globe and it is really nice. My husband helped me decide that it would be a waste for us to keep it and I was prepared for this option. I knew it was going to be nice and my kids aren’t ready for “nice”. They are just too young. I had it inscribed with “May Your Path Always be Straight and True”. So we are going to donate this car. The Race Car Water Globe holds a photo. It’s so easy to get the ship inside the glass, if you know what I mean. the photo frame comes out in the bottom and you insert your photo of choice instead of the old one. The car wheels move and it would roll but it’s so nice I wouldn’t want you to roll it.

Things Remembered is offering one to one of my readers. (as long as supplies last, otherwise you will receive something of equal value)

Here is another one that I wish I had a giveaway for you guys, but if you look around the blogosphere you will find a few bloggers giving them away for Mother’s Day. I was however, chosen for a review and I’m purchasing two more.

charm: Starter Star CharmThings Remembered specializes in engraving. I have something from them from when I was in High School. I don’t wear it anymore but I still have it because it is special. When I got that though we got it in a store. I haven’t seen one of their stores around WA but I haven’t exactly been looking either.

I might now

Girl's May Birthstone Angel Necklace with FREE Keepsake Box

This is what I’m going to order for my Mom and StepMom. I’m getting this one because my birthday is in May and I’m going to make it say “Zoe & Miles”. It also comes with a free Keepsake Box. This is 25.00 but they have tons and tons of charms that are only 20.00 each.

What is extra special is getting the customization done. Now we all have necklaces that have my children their grandchildren’s names on it. I’m very excited.

The Story Charm

It doesn’t fade over time, it’s engraved. It’s my Mother’s Day Gift so I do recommend it.
