November 10, 2014 by Momstart 1 Comment

This is partnered post with Teflon

Did you know that you can make cornbread in a pan on top of the oven and that it doesn’t have to be a skillet? We received a 12-piece cookware set from Teflon who is partnering with Farberware Cookware. If you saw in our post over the weekend we are hosting a twitter party with them. You can RSVP for the #SeasonstoCelebrate twitter party here: Join Us For #SeasonstoCelebrate Twitter Party @TeflonBrand @FarberwareCook 7 PM CST 11/13.

Anyway, using the Teflon coated Farberware Cookware it’s quite easy to make dishes you love without worrying about anything sticking. We found this great Pan Style Sausage & Corn Cornbread Recipe that you can make on the stovetop with little mess to clean up.

Pan Style Sausage & Corn Cornbread Recipe

Sausage-Corn-Bread-Pudding1

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar (use more, if desired)
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons oil or butter, for the pan
  • 1 pound cooked maple brown sugar sausage
  • 1 Package Frozen Corn heated

Directions:

  • Measure buttermilk or soured milk into a small bowl. Add egg and beat with a fork. Stir in oil and honey.
  • In another bowl, mix cornmeal, salt and baking soda.
  • Heat skillet, add 2 teaspoons butter or oil and spread to cover bottom and sides of skillet thoroughly.
  • Add cornmeal mixture to milk mixture, stir briefly, add sausage and corn and pour into hot skillet. Reduce heat to medium-low and cover. (If skillet has no lid, improvise with foil, a plate, etc.)
  • Check after 6 – 8 minutes. (It may take a few minutes more.) Cornbread has cooked long enough when firm around the edges and center is almost firm. Turn off heat and let stand, covered, for a few minutes. It will continue to cook.
  • Serve warm.

6 eggs
1/4 cup milk
4 very ripe bananas
1/4 cup pecans
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
8 slices bread
4 tablespoons butter

Directions:

In a large shallow bowl beat the eggs until frothy. Stir in the milk and set aside

Peel the bananas and mash in a small bowl stir in the pecans and nutmeg

Spread the banana mixture in between the hotdog buns, press the bun together gently

Place the filled buns in the egg mixture let soak and then flip coating all sides for a few seconds

Farberware Triple Pack with Teflon® nonstick coating #TeflonEggMonth @TeflonBrand

May 28, 2013 by Momstart 35 Comments

Father’s Day is quickly approaching, Teflon sent me the Farberware Triple Pack with Teflon® nonstick coating to test out for the holiday! (and I get to host a giveaway too. Winking smile)

image

By using Farberware cookware with Teflon® nonstick coating, you’ll see that it’s possible to make a hearty, delicious meal for 1 or 20 without spending all day in the kitchen. The nonstick coatings on Farberware’s pots and pans make for easy cooking and clean-up every time! Clean less and celebrate more with those that matter this Father’s Day. I love using Farberware Pans with Teflon nonstick coating because food just slides off of them. My husband loves pancakes and these are perfect for flipping pancakes out of the pan. He loves to do that, I hate watching because I’m terrified pancake batter is going to end up all over the floor but he’s pretty good and with these pans he doesn’t have to shake the pan, the pancake just flips.

Farberware Triple packs come in red, black and champagne and are three different sizes for all your sauté needs. Triple packs can be purchased at Walmart stores or online. And there are a few days left to celebrate TeflonEggMonth. Which reminds me, eggs are another thing that cooks amazingly in these pans. Plus they don’t stick. There is a May month-long #TeflonEggMonth Facebook Sweepstakes, where they have and will be giving away daily prizes and weekly prize packages from cookware products (including the Farberware Triple Pack) to iPad minis! Follow Teflon Brand on Facebook and Twitter for more updates!

Teflon Back To School Back To Routine Tips #Giveaway

October 10, 2012 by Momstart 224 Comments

I love using non-stick pans, they save so much time. I’ve been working with Teflon for the past year and I have a few of their pans, some clothing treated with Teflon and I love it. It’s so nice to have clothing treated with Teflon because stuff just rolls right off of it. And as far as pans go, I hate washing dishes, and when things don’t come clean in the dishwasher it’s quite a pain to re wash them by hand. With Teflon, I’m quite happy with how easily they come clean.

Today, I’m working with Teflon coming up with Back To School Tips for cooking, but then I figured, you are all done with back to school having been back for a month or two. So maybe you might need some refreshing ideas of what to create for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I’ve got a post that goes live every Monday called Bento Box Monday and it’s got lots of great ideas to keep lunch interesting. One of the ideas included fried chicken and I love fried chicken so I made a video of myself cooking fried chicken. In the video I talked briefly about the bento boxes.

I received a Back To School Kit:  a 5-quart Jumbo Cooker with Teflon® nonstick coating and the Breakfasts and Brunches, featuring “Favorite Recipes from America’s Bed and Breakfast Inns”, signed by author Gail Greco and so can you. Be sure to Find Teflon® Brand on Facebook and Follow Teflon® Brand on Twitter.

Technique® Light Weight Cast Iron with DuPont™ Teflon® Scratchguard Ultra

May 26, 2012 by Momstart 260 Comments

May is/was National Egg month and I helped Teflon celebrate egg month by sharing some recipes with you guys. I actually think eggs should be eaten all the time and love the idea of them not sticking to my pans, because my old pans always have eggs stuck to them.

Fresh eggs are one of the best sources of protein and healthy nutrients, and one of the most versatile foods available for any cook – from fried eggs and omelets to eggs benedict and frittatas. But no matter which way you choose to cook your eggs, cookware with Teflon® nonstick coatings will ensure even cooking and the delivery eggs — wholly and gracefully — from pan to plate (easy cook, easy clean!).

IMG_2161

The Technique® Light Weight Cast Iron (a 2-piece package) is coated with DuPont™ Teflon® Scratchguard Ultra, so it is safe to use with metal utensils. Some additional benefits include even and energy efficient heating; all the benefits of easy cleanup; and it’s available in three colors (blue, black and red).

  • Includes 10-1/2" fry pan and 8" fry pan
  • Made without PFOA
  • The first DuPont 4-coat nonstick Teflon system designed solely for cast iron
  • Technique cast iron pan is at least 40% lighter than traditional cast iron pans
  • Metal utensil-safe nonstick interior
  • Stainless steel riveted handles
  • Porcelain enamel exterior
  • Dishwasher-safe; oven-safe to 500F

IMG_2162

Now cooking with it was a little difficult for me. I think the energy efficiency threw me off or something. I wasn’t getting even cooking. I think with more practice I’ll be cooking on them with no problems at all. Good news is though they come clean with a breeze. They look much nicer than cast iron and I love the shiny red color. I love that I can just throw them in the dishwasher but as easily as they come clean it’s almost not even worth putting them in the dishwasher. Just run them under the sink with hot water and soap and they’re clean. I love the clean up!

This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to the winner, Damian J.

Crab & Veggie Omelet Recipe

May 18, 2012 by Momstart 24 Comments

And the final recipe brought to you by Teflon are these wonderful Omelets. Omelets, such as this one, offer the opportunity for a complete meal in an egg pocket. Serve with English muffins or toast.

Crab & Veggie Omelet Recipe

imageIngredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 green onions chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium tomato, cut into a small dice
8 ounces (2 cups) cleaned and torn
spinach leaves
1 red bell pepper, chopped
Salt and pepper
8 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 pound fresh backfin crabmeat
4 tablespoons butter, divided

Directions
In a medium skillet coated with DuPont™ Teflon® nonstick coating, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Cook the onions and garlic until tender, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the tomatoes and cook another 2 minutes. Add the spinach and red bell pepper; stir and cook another 2 minutes.

Season with salt and pepper. Then add the crabmeat and cook another minute. Transfer the mixture to a plate.

Crack the eggs into a large mixing bowl and pour in the milk. Beat the eggs with an electric mixer on
medium to light and fluffy, a few minutes.

Heat a tablespoon of butter in a small skillet coated with DuPont™ Teflon® nonstick coating. When the pan is hot, pour in enough egg to cover the bottom.

Cook until the eggs set, 2 to 3 minutes. Don’t stir but let the bottom set. With a rubber spatula, gently push an edge of the egg into the center of the pan, tilting the pan to allow the egg to flow underneath the cooked
egg.

Repeat with the other edges until no liquid remains. Eggs should look like a flat pancake. Sprinkle in
1/4 cup of the cheese and add a fourth of the crabmeat filling.

Fold the egg over the mixture. Slide out of the pan with the help of the spatula and place on a warmed plate; keep warm and repeat the technique until all 4 omelets are cooked. Serve with desired toast.

Mushroom and Basil Baked-Egg Frittata Recipe

May 16, 2012 by Momstart 17 Comments

If pressed for time, begin preparing this quiche-like egg dish the night before serving. Wrap the skillet with foil and store in the fridge. Next morning, set it out for 10 minutes to warm a bit before broiling it.

image

Mushroom and Basil Baked-Egg Frittata Recipe

Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large leek, cut into thin rings (white part only)
1 green pepper, seeded and cut into a small dice
2 cups sliced baby portobello mushrooms
2 medium whole tomatoes, cored, seeded, and cut into a small dice
6 eggs
1/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons basil pesto Salt and pepper
1/2 cup shredded Gruyere cheese

Directions
In a medium skillet coated with DuPont™ Teflon® non-stick coating, heat the oil and sauté the leek rings until translucent, about 3 minutes.

Add the green pepper and sliced mushrooms and cook until the mushrooms are browned, stirring frequently. Stir in the tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.

Preheat the broiler.

Beat the eggs lightly and stir in the milk, blending well.

Stir in the pesto.

Add a seasoning of salt and pepper.

Pour into the vegetable mixture and sprinkle the Gruyere cheese generously over the top. Add more if desired.

Place the pan on the second rack down from the broiler for about 8 minutes, then check to see if the middle is cooked.

Continue broiling as the edges brown and the center cooks.

Let sit on the counter for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Antipasto Egg Quesadilla #Recipe #TeflonEggParty

May 15, 2012 by Momstart 21 Comments

Today brings you another recipe thanks to Teflon. For more recipes, please visit: http://teflon.com/recipes

Italian influenced, this recipe mimics a platter of antipasto. However, instead of being served as an appetizer, it satisfies the need for a lunch entree with protein, dairy, and vegetables. Two people will have enough for a full lunch by splitting the quesadilla wedges. Or, cut smaller wedges and serve as a side to a bowl of soup.

image

Antipasto Egg Quesadilla Recipe

Ingredients
4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
3 plum tomatoes, cut into 1/4-inch slices
3 hard-boiled eggs, cut into 1/4- to 1/2-inch slices
1 cup roasted red pepper, julienne slices
3/4 cup finely chopped marinated artichoke hearts
6 slices imported prosciutto ham, thinly sliced 3 ounces shaved, imported provolone cheese
6 8-inch flour tortillas
2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions
Build the quesadilla, placing all the ingredients onto three of the tortillas in the order listed above (from the mozzarella to the provolone cheese). Place the remaining tortillas over the top and press down to hold in some of the ingredients.
Brush each side of each tortilla with olive oil. Cook one at a time over medium heat in a skillet coated with DuPont™ Teflon® non-stick coating. Turn once to be sure each side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Cut the quesadillas into four wedges and place on a serving platter.

Ham and Chives Omelet #Recipe #TeflonEggParty

May 14, 2012 by Momstart 17 Comments

I’m working with Teflon again this year and this time I will be reviewing some Teflon coated pans. They sent me a few recipes and I wanted to share them with you. Here is the first one…..

Look no further for a more satisfying omelet recipe than this one. Delicately seasoned and well-balanced with sweet and tangy tastes, you may find it gracing your pan at least once a week and not just as a dinner recipe. You can substitute for the ham in this recipe with Canadian bacon or Italian Prosciutto. Warming the ham in the oil first, allows it to sweeten a bit. Be careful not to cook too long or it will dry out. You can double these ingredients for serving more than one omelet.

image

Ham and Chives Omelet Recipe

Ingredients
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 thin slices Virginia or other ham, cut into thin strips
2 eggs
1 tablespoon water Salt and pepper
1 tablespoon fresh or dried chives
1/4 cup chopped broccoli flowers
2 tablespoons finely grated carrot
1/4 cup finely grated Gruyere or Swiss cheese

Directions
In a small skillet coated with DuPont™ Teflon® non-stick, heat only half the oil over medium heat and lightly brown the ham for a few minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, water, salt, pepper, and chives. In the same pan, heat the remaining oil and add the egg mixture over medium heat. Swirl to coat the pan.

With a spatula, push the already cooked portion of the egg toward the center, letting uncooked eggs drizzle onto the hot pan. Keep doing this until no more egg runs to the sides.

Add the broccoli, carrots, and cheese to half of the omelet.

Remove the pan from the heat and using the spatula, fold the omelet over the filling.

Tip the omelet onto a warm plate, using the spatula as a guide. Serve immediately.
