Staying Cool in Texas: SwimWays Spring Float

July 11, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

By Lindsey:

It is no secret that Texas is hot. Texas has 4 seasons- almost summer, summer, still summer, and Christmas. Because of this, like our sunny neighbors California and Florida, we happen to have an abundance of pools. As a child I remember counting the days till school was out, dreaming of the perfect swim suit, and all the different ways we could have summer fun in the water.

Along with pools usually come some sort of pool floats, and nowadays they come in a ton of different varieties since the old days of the standard blow up plastic float. I personally seek out a float that allows me to be slightly in the water, so I am not just frying on top of something that happens to be in water. In my mind there are three varieties, plastic, foam, and now the new SwimWays Spring Float. I have never been a fan of the plastic ones, they do not last long, the plastic edges are sometimes sharp, plastic smells terrible and they will usually have a hole within 3 uses. The foam ones are much better, but they have their downsides too-very pricey, the coating gets too hot and feels like it melts to your skin, and after some use they start to crack as well. Neither one of these floats really allows you to be somewhat in the water, I find myself having to periodically splash myself as I float along, which totally destroys the relaxation aspect.

The third and newest variety is the SwimWays Spring float. This thing is brilliant. It is like a hammock for the pool. The edges are inflated, similar to the plastic ones, but the float is covered in fabric to add some comfort and durability. No more plastic float cuts. The interior has a mesh inner spring that allows you to actually hang out in the water, while floating above it and getting an even tan. These floats inflate pretty quickly without an air pump and when you are done you twist the wires on the edge of the float to fold up and are good to go, about the size of a dinner plate. Best of all, starting at $22.99, they are totally affordable. This float delivers all the relaxation without plastic cuts, weird plastic melting or stickiness feelings or heat stroke!

The Spring Float Papasan is especially convenient as it folds into the included carry case, making it easy to take along on the next family adventure or store at home. Spring Float models are also available for children (ages 9 months and up), allowing for easy relaxation for the whole family!

SwimWays Spring Float Recliner

July 23, 2013 by Momstart 1 Comment

Disclosure:  As a SwimWays Ambassador I receive products to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

I really like working as one of the SwimWays Ambassadors, I receive products from them that encourage my kids to get into the pool and swim. So far we really enjoy the dolphin Swimways Pooligans from last month and the swimming vests. I also love that they share so much water safety information with me because I think it’s really important that you are always within a hands reach of your children when they are learning how to swim. I was just reading on someone’s facebook page the other day that their child was being ignored during swim lessons. It was another mom that told her it looked like her son was in distress. Right in the middle of his swimming class she had to jump in the pool with her clothes on to get her son out of the pool. Water Safety is so important don’t ever take it for granted.

All summer long, Swimways will be working with Mario Vittone, former Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue Swimmer and instructor and water safety expert, to bring expert water safety tips to Swim Steps’ dedicated website TeachMeToSwim.com. In addition to these tips, families can download free materials and resources on the site, including a swimming certificate, National Learn to Swim Day party invitation, coloring sheets and more.

This month I received the Spring Float Recliner.

The SwimWays® Spring Float® Recliner pool float combines all the comfort of the Spring Float® pool float line with a sit-up style and luxury lounge experience. Kick back and enjoy these features:

  • Jet Valve™ technology allows for easy and fast inflation and deflation.
  • Includes backrest, headrest, cup holder and ottoman.
  • Folds quickly with our patented spring technology for easy carry and storage.
  • Three colors to choose from.

It really was very easy to inflate and to fold back up. My husband asked me for help but before I even got over to him he had it all wrapped back up. We can’t wait to take it to the beach.

Swimways Pooligans The Wet Pool Plush

July 3, 2013 by Momstart Leave a Comment

sample received from swimways

Swimways Pooligans have my kids ready to jump in the pool and yes the bath tub. As soon as this dolphin showed up my daughter was all over me to take her to the swimming pool and to let her use it in the tub. They recognize the Swimways brand as a brand that can get wet. They know it can go in the bath tub and every day, can we take it in the tub, can we take it with us, is it ready to go in today? I kept saying no because I didn’t want to get the camera ready. Not that I would have shown you photos of them in the tub anyway because I’m pretty sure they are too old to show you tub photos.

Pooligans are sweet, huggable plush pool toys.  They are made from an anti-microbial, fast drying outer fabric and stuffing making them perfect for both in and out of the pool. Kids can swim with their favorite animal, and moms and dads can enjoy them as a cute poolside seat. Kids love to swim with the sweet, huggable SwimWays® Pooligans™ plush pool toys! They’re fun as a float; perfect for poolside comfort.

pooligans

Available in 4 collectable styles:  Pink Dolphin, Penguin, Polar Bear and Blue Shark. These creatures are fun for all ages, I think I would even love to snuggle with one. They are quite soft and feel a little like a beany baby just much larger as you can see by the photos of my children. .

In all honesty I haven’t had time yet to take my children to the pool. I haven’t even taken the tags off yet, but what I d love is how soft they are and how they dry so fast. The kids love them and I can’t wait until I get back to Washington to take them to the pool with their new toys.

You can stay connected with SwimWays here: WEBSITE | FACEBOOK | TWITTER

BUY IT:  Pooligans can be purchased for $24.95 direct through SwimWays or look for them wherever pool toys are sold.

I’m a Swimways Ambassador and National Learn To Swim Day is May 18th

May 6, 2013 by Momstart 2 Comments

I’m so happy to announce that I’m a Swimways Ambassador and have fallen in love with the suits they sent me to review. They sent me these swimming vests. They aren’t life preservers but they do allow for some added buoyance to help my kids fee confident in their attempts to learn how to swim. Both of my children are afraid of the water and it’s so contrary to how I feel about the water so it’s really important to me that they learn how to swim. And they are super excited with their new fins!

image

As I’m further testing out the Swimways products I am also excited to share additional information this summer with you like information about the second annual National Learn to Swim Day , as May 18th  National Learn to Swim Day is quickly approaching!

Swimways started National Learn to Swim Day in 2012 with the goal of educating families about the importance and benefits of learning to swim before Memorial Day Weekend and the start of summer.  On Saturday, May 18th, Swimways encourages families around the country to participate in National Learn to Swim Day by signing children up for swimming lessons, hosting a National Learn to Swim Day event or committing to learning to swim this summer.

Stay tuned for Zoe and Miles’ journey in the swimming pool this summer.
