Eddie Bauer Trail Hiker 3 Wheel Travel System Functional, Fashionable, Fabulous

My First Baby Gear Review! The Functional, Fashionable, Eddie Bauer Trail Hiker 3 Wheel Travel System

By: Ashley

We kept this pregnancy pretty quiet for awhile, which might be why sometime it still doesn’t seem too real. When a big box from Eddie Bauer Baby arrived on my doorstep though, WHEW! That was one way to make sure I knew it was all really happening… and soon! I remember researching FOREVER to figure out the best travel system for Atticus. I ended up getting a set that had a more traditional 4 wheel stroller… and always wished I would have done the 3-wheel. Getting to test out the Eddie Bauer Trail Hiker 3 Wheel Travel System just made me realize how happy I was that our old stroller didn’t make the cross country move!

clip_image002

First of all, let me say that the stroller and carseat both seem extremely sturdy without being extremely heavy. Lightweight and easy to use should be some of the biggest concerns when looking for a travel system. I love that our new little bundle will be able to use the carseat and stroller in June, but until then, Atticus thinks that this is a fantastic stroller! Good thing since it works for kids up to 50 lbs! clip_image004

I love the fabric Eddie Bauer uses. The colors are bold and gender neutral, which is great. They seem durable without being rough and scratchy. Even though I didn’t actually try to spill something on it (I’m sure that will happen just fine naturally…), it really seems like this will be material that I can keep clean and fresh with little effort.

clip_image006While this is not officially an “all terrain” stroller, I think it can handle most normal stroller spots: the park, the grass, mulch, gravel, and sidewalks. Having the larger wheels really does make a difference. That’s something that I have learned the hard way. It’s also really nice to have the option of a turning front wheel, or a locked wheel (meaning it only goes forwards and backwards).

clip_image010The carseat is your typical infant carrier with base system. The installation is really easy and makes for a very secure fit. I’m not sure the base works in my car (I have a compact SUV, so the seats are apparently a little smaller than others). I’ve seen some Child Passenger Safety information that says at least 80% of the base should be in contact with the carseat for a safe fit. I still need to do some measurements to see if this seat fits in my car. If it doesn’t, I’m going to be so sad! With the LATCH system, easy install, gender neutral colors (big fan of that) and great safety ratings, I was hoping that my carseat shopping was done. Either way, just make sure it fits your car.

Where Do You Take YOUR Maclaren? – Trotting in the Maclaren Globetrotter

May 27, 2012 by Momstart 15 Comments

By: Ashley

Until I had Atticus, I didn’t realize that there were so many different strollers that were supposed to be used in so many different places. If you bought a stroller for each type of terrain, you would have a garage full of your million dollar stroller fleet. I’m not here to say that each of those strollers doesn’t serve a good purpose, but what I AM here to say is that depending on your needs, a solid stroller can do what you need it to do. What solid stroller do I use? The Maclaren Globetrotter

DSC01589

Our Maclaren Globetrotter has gone EVERYWHERE with us… and done really well on a lot of different types of terrain.

The first test was a simple trip to the mall. I definitely fell in love with the shoulder strap… and loved how it was easy enough for even Atticus to push and steer!

Next up was our big move. While the Maclaren Globetrotter didn’t exactly get USED… it was incredibly easy to pack up and take along. It doesn’t take up much space, fits into pretty much any stroller bag, and is really light.

IMG_4793

On yet ANOTHER shopping adventure, (I know, I know. Between moving and shopping there is a lot of commerce to take part in…) the Globetrotter was SO comfortable that my little guy who prefers walking on his own, actually FELL ASLEEP in his stroller! It was amazing!

We also took a trip to the Reston Zoo. Over the gravel, through the grass – the Globetrotter did great. That was when I also noticed the great sunshade. It actually seemed to offer more shade than the canopy on our Quest Sport. That’s good news for a fair skinned little boy (and his Mama!).

So, do you have a Maclaren? Where do you go? We’d love to hear your stories!

Be sure to check out my other post on the Maclaren Globetrotter – video included.

Maclaren Globetrotter Video – The Latest and Greatest Maclaren Lightweight Stroller

May 26, 2012 by Momstart 9 Comments

By: Ashley

With a toddler who would rather be toddling than riding, finding the perfect stroller is a tough battle. Maclaren has always delivered a winning stroller for both me and my little guy – and still does! In the past, we were big fans of the Maclaren Quest Sport, but that was before I took the NEW Maclaren Globetrotter out for a stroll.

The Maclaren Globetrotter has all of the perks that you would expect from a Maclaren: lightweight, easy to fold, durable frame, and a secure 5 point harness. The Globetrotter also brings with it an even lighter design along with a reclining seat! In fact, the Maclaren Globetrotter is the lightest stroller in its class.

DSC01589

With all of the traveling our family does (especially lately!), lightweight is the number one priority in choosing a stroller. When I found out that the Maclaren Globetrotter was only 10.6 pounds, I knew it would be a great match for us. The great carry strap on the back of the Maclaren Globetrotter stroller is a fantastic addition that works great with the lightness of the stroller. You can quickly fold the stroller down. Then, throw the strap on your shoulder for getting around and carrying whatever else you need to be carrying.

DSC01590

In addition to the durable lightweight construction, I am always shocked and amazed at the maneuverability of ANY Maclaren – and the Globetrotter does no t disappoint. Several different people in my family, including Atticus, have used it and everyone is always amazed at how easy it handles. You can even push and steer with one hand in those crazy mommy, multitasking, hands full moments in life.

If you are looking for a user friendly, kid friendly, great all around stroller, the Maclaren Globetrotter could be EXACTLY what you’re looking for.

Check out more of my new favorite stroller in my Maclaren Globetrotter Demonstration video… and stay tuned in on MomStart to see where we’ve trotted in our Globetrotter.

Maclaren Volo Stroller Review

October 14, 2011 by Momstart 10 Comments

Strollers are a way of life when you have a baby or toddler. Even preschoolers still need a break when you’re spending the day walking. I’ve even seen older kids want a turn in the stroller because their little feet were tired. Mine certainly get tired. When traveling with kids and having to tote around so much stuff the first thing I look for in a stroller is the weight. IMG_4793

Maclaren sent us the perfect stroller for our three year old. It’s light weight with a basic weight of 8.8 pounds. The Maclaren Volo Stroller rocks it in four fantastic colors: Charcoal, Deep Water, Scarlet,
Black. And if Miles can’t have blue, he’s quite happy to sport Scarlet (he of course calls it red). Two other things that I look for in a stroller are wheels and age. I like to have strollers that last from beginning to end. The Maclaren practically does.

IMG_4780The Maclaren stroller starts at age six months old and works up to 55lbs. My three year old is around 49 so he’s perfectly fine in it for probably at least one more year. Maybe two. My four year old is the same weight so I would feel fine putting her in it too. Now for babies, you’re probably going to be carrying them in a carrier until about six months anyways so you could just get this stroller and use it once they were six months old. The five point harness should make you feel safe putting them in at any age.

 IMG_4789

The Maclaren Volo Stroller is eligible for the Sovereign Lifetime Warranty and has a 5 second one-hand compact umbrella fold with a high-performance aluminum frame. Ours came with a rain guard and a bag for storage.

IMG_4782

IMG_4781IMG_4784

The Maclaren Volo stroller was really easy to put together after I had my husband do it first. I had trouble figuring out how to lock it into position but once he showed me how it was quite easy to fold and unfold. It really is secure and a sturdy stroller. It has a height adjustable shoulder harness which also helps your child grow with the stroller and the wheels are lockable. There is a foot-operated linked parking brakes and ergonomically optimized handles
The hood is water resistant and very easy to put on and lock into place. You can see the photo above where I locked it into place. Finally the carrying strap is what made me really like the stroller more than most umbrella strollers.
