Peppermint Banana Smoothie Recipe

June 8, 2014 by Beeb 2 Comments

Peppermint Banana Smoothie
MomStart is a Truvia Ambassador and compensated for sharing recipes.
Now that the weather is warming up, I’m thinking about all the delicious smoothies I can make. These are a perfect drink for our current eating plan, since you can utilize nonfat milk with a fruit for a well-rounded snack that counts as both a SmartCarb and PoweFuel. I wanted to try something that would be a little creative, but not too involved to make. Here’s what I came up with!

Peppermint Banana Smoothie Recipe
Author: Beeb Ashcroft
Recipe type: Smoothie

Ingredients
  • 1 medium banana, chopped
  • 1 C lowfat milk
  • 1 TBSP Truvia Baking Blend
  • ¼ tsp. pure peppermint extract
Instructions
  1. Place all ingredients in a food processor or blender; mix until smooth. Pour into a large glass and enjoy!
Notes
Peppermint flavor is very strong, so if a milder flavor is desired, reduce amount to ⅛ tsp. or to taste.

To further reduce calories, substitute nonfat milk and Truvia Spoonable.

Sharing A Spinach and Berry Smoothie with Truvía® Natural Sweetener Recipe

April 4, 2014 by Momstart 4 Comments

As you all know or should know by now I’m on a diet and working with Nutrisystem. With that I’m allowed to have only none sugar sweeteners because sugar is known to be a problem with people’s weight. Which really makes me feel that my relationship with Truvia is such a great fit right now for my diet. This is a compensated post thanks to Truvia, but I’m also posting it because I truly am making changes in my life to eat and live healthier.

An Orange Vanilla Cream Smoothie Recipe

October 24, 2013 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Here is another recipe, Orange Vanilla Crème Smoothie on behalf of the Florida Department of Citrus that helps you find way to get more vitamin C in you.

The intake requirements for most nutrients increase during pregnancy so moms-to-be should try to include nutrient-rich foods, like 100% OJ, as part of a healthy diet. 100% orange juice is more nutrient dense than many commonly consumed 100 percent fruit juices.

An Orange Vanilla Cream Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients

1½ cups 100% Florida orange juice
6 ounces nonfat vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt
½ cup vanilla almond milk or vanilla soy milk
2 cups ice
Orange slices for garnish, optional

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in a blender: blend at medium speed until smooth and creamy. Pour into tall glasses and garnish with orange slices, if desired.

Guest Post: Smoothie Recipes: A Healthier Snack Option for Summer

March 26, 2012 by Momstart 23 Comments

Although it seems like spring just got here, the warmer temperatures let us know that summer is just around the corner – and with it, some of the most decadent desserts you can imagine. While most of us think of the holidays when we think of fatty snacks, summer can be just as bad with the ice cream, frozen cheesecake bites, and pudding pops.

strawberry smoothie

However, there are a few healthier options out there that don’t require you to sacrifice taste. A great option for you and your family during the summer months are fruit smoothies. Fruit smoothies are excellent source of vitamins, and are a quick fix to that sweet tooth hankering we are prone to getting. A few excellent banana smoothie recipes, that are both healthy and tasty, include:

Berry Banana Smoothie
Ingredients:

2 ripe bananas
1 cup of skim or low-fat milk
1 ½ cup of mixed berries
2 whole frozen strawberries
2 cups of ice

Directions:

Put all ingredients in blender with the ice being the last ingredient you add. Blend on high for 30 seconds or until the smoothie is of desired consistency.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:

2 whole frozen bananas – you will want to quarter and peel bananas prior to freezing
1 cup of sliced strawberries
6 oz of fat-free or low-fat vanilla yogurt

Directions:

To mix, simply place all ingredients in the blender and mix on high until the smoothie reaches your desired consistency.

If you are wanting something a bit more decadent, consider trying a creamy peanut butter banana smoothie, banana oatmeal smoothie, or a banana split smoothie. While these smoothies do have a few more calories than a traditional split smoothie, they are still packed with nutrients and lower in fat than ice cream.

Avocado Pineapple Smoothie Recipe

March 15, 2012 by Momstart 34 Comments

Adding avocados to a smoothie is a great way to add some healthy fat and protein. It’s also a great way to make a green shake for St. Patrick’s day. The Avocado Pineapple Smoothie recipe is simple, portable, and a healthy alternative to the dairy present in other smoothies. One slice of avocado contains one gram of fiber, which helps kids to feel satiated and maintain a healthy weight. It is literally two ingredients and is a fantastic way for kids to power up with a healthy treat in the morning! Plus I just LOVE Avocados.
