This is the final installment of our McCormick Spices For Health series. We have brought you spaghetti, tacos, enchiladas, pork chops, and now pizza.
My trick for this pizza is to get a Papa Murphy’s crust. This was a mommy tip given to me a long time ago by a friend. They’re $2 for any size, so we got the family size instead of the recommended 12-inch crust. I modified my recipe to match the size we purchased. Though I thought there was too much Crushed Red Pepper, but I’m the white girl who orders a zero on a spice scale of one to five at Indian and Asian restaurants. My husband on the other hand LOVED this pizza saying I finally cooked with the right amount of spices. For the children I left ¼ of the pizza as only cheese.
Here is McCormick’s recipe:
WHITE PIZZA RECIPE:
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 12-inch prepared pizza crust
4 ounces reduced fat shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ teaspoon McCormick oregano
¼ teaspoon McCormick thyme leaves
¼ teaspoon McCormick garlic powder
¼ teaspoon McCormick crushed red (cayenne) pepper
1 cup assorted vegetables of your choice
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400oF.
2. Brush olive oil evenly over the surface of rolled out pizza crust.
3. Top with cheese, oregano, thyme, garlic, pepper, and vegetables.
4. Cook prepared pizza in preheated oven for 10 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
On our pizza we had sweet red peppers and tomatoes. It’s what we had on hand from our visit to our local farm last week. You could use mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, basil leaves, bell peppers, olives or any of your other most loved toppings.
This is another quick and easy “fast food” without being from a drive thru or take-out. This is another McCormick meal which adds spices and fresh vegetables which increases antioxidants and nutrients to foods you already include into your normal food rotation.
