Johnsonville Fully Cooked Turkey Sausage Fried Potato Cakes Recipe & Morning Time Saving Tip #Johnsonville #MorningHacks

August 22, 2014 by Momstart 5 Comments

This is a partnered post with compensation and product from the brand we are working with. All opinions are our own.

Johnsonville has released a new product that is ready in 30 seconds. Johnsonville’s NEW Fully Cooked Breakfast Sausage Links.  Available nationwide in September, the new fully cooked links are to take the mayhem out of mornings and give families an easy way to have a hot, high protein breakfast to keep them full all morning and they sent us some samples to create a recipe with. You’ll find the recipe at the bottom of the page.

sausage potato cakes

Ready to eat in 30 seconds, Johnsonville Fully Cooked Breakfast Sausage is available in three varieties: Original Recipe, Vermont Maple Syrup and Turkey (70% less fat). To launch the new product, Johnsonville is teaming up with Elisa All, parenting expert and founder of 30 Second Mom and hosting a Pinterest sweepstakes where you can win a month of free groceries and other prize packs from Johnsonville. The idea of the game is to visit the Johnsonville Pinterest page starting Monday 8/25  and allow users 30 seconds to pin as many time saving hacks as they can to their own Pinterest boards. After 30 seconds, the page will automatically advance and prompt the users to enter their contact information for the chance to win prizes!

Johnsonville asked me to create a hack to save time for back to school and pin it to their pin board. My kids and I save time by putting outfits together as we are folding the laundry. This helps my son because he easily gets distracted by his toys in the morning. This way his outfits is all picked out. He puts it on and then still has time to play and doesn’t get in trouble with mom.

Sausage & Cheese Sandwich Recipe

August 10, 2011 by Momstart 17 Comments

I was in the mood for sausage sandwiches for lunch. We had leftover sausage patties from dinner the other night and I received some Whole Wheat Arnold Sandwich Thin Mini’s so I combined them with some cheddar cheese. Nom Nom Nom!

IMG_2920

Depending on where you live, Arnold has a few different names. Here in the Pacific Northwest Arnold is known as Oroweat. Based on the line of Sandwich Thins, the minis only have 50 calories each and are Whole Wheat. Whole wheat provides antioxidants, dietary fiber, B vitamins, vitamin E, iron, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium. It’s associated with reduced body fat and belly fat, plus a lower risk of heart disease and diabetes.

Other Health Benefits:

  • 0g trans fat
  • 19g whole grains per serving
  • Cholesterol free
  • Excellent source of fiber
  • No high fructose corn syrup

Now for the Sausage & Cheese Sandwiches Recipe

Ingredients:

Sausage Patties Cooked
Cheddar Cheese
Sandwich Thins Mini’s

Directions:

Toast the Sandwich Thins in the toaster
Heat up the Sausage Patties in the microwave, melting the cheese on top
Place on the Sandwich Thin mini’s and eat!

How to Make Johnsonville Sausage Rainbow Kabobs with Coos Coos

March 5, 2011 by Momstart 5 Comments

This recipe is really easy and can be changed to any preference. All you need to do is pick out the veggie you like and what type of meat you want. We chose Johnsonville Sausage, in particular the Bedder Cheddar Smoked Sausage and cheese , then we chose some new veggies and fruit and an old favorite. Let the kids pick out some of the fruit and veggies so they feel involved.

Rainbow Kabobs

How to make Kabobs without skewers

To keep the flavors from mixing (if you have a picky person like me) I got out two glass dishes to cook in.

Ingredients:

Red Peppers
Eggplant
Tomatoes
Pineapple
Apples
Bedder Cheddar Smoked Sausage and cheese

1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2) Cut up veggies and place in glass dish
3) Spray veggies with nonstick butter spray (or douse with some olive oil)
4) Cook for 10 minutes
5) Now cut up fruit and cut up the sausage
6) When timer goes off add the fruit and sausage in it’s own glass dish or in the same dish as the veggies
7) Flip the veggies
8) Cook for 10 more minutes

Prepare Coos coos according to directions on the box.

Johnsonville and I have an ongoing relationship. They occasionally send me sausage next week I’ll be attending a blogger kitchen basics trip with them. Save on Johnsonville Sausage with an on-line coupon. Print a coupon for Johnsonville Sausage.

Maple Sausage Corn Bread Pudding Recipe

February 19, 2011 by Momstart 22 Comments

I’ve been trying to widen our meal plan using ingredients that we know and love. I’ve just been tired of making the same things over and over again. So, I checked out Jimmy Dean’s Website for recipes and found the Maple Sausage Corn Bread Pudding Recipe. My husband was a little bit leery because the recipe called for onions, so I told him to trust me it would be delicious. It came out wonderful, of course with my own modifications.

Sausage Corn Bread Pudding

Here is my version of Maple Sausage Corn Bread Pudding Recipe

Ingredients:

1 pkg of Jiffy Corn Bread Mix (or 8.5 ounces of your choice corn bread mix)
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 pkg Jimmy Dean Maple Flavor Pork Sausage Roll (8 ounces) cooked crumbled and drained
1 1/2 cups frozen corn cooked
4 eggs
2 cups half-and-half or whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare muffin batter according to package directions, pour into lightly greased 8-inch square baking pan. Bake 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely.

2. Cut cornbread into 1-inch cubes; place in 13×19 inch baking pan. Bake 5-10 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer lightly greased 2-quart casserole.

3. Melt the butter and pour over the bread cubes, then top with corn and sausage

4. Beat eggs, half-and-half, salt in small bowl with wire whisk until well blended; pour over ingredients in casserole. Gently press bread cubes into egg mixture until completely covered. Cover with foil.

5. Bake 30 minutes then uncover and cook 10 more (make sure the knife comes out clean) Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

I varied the ingredients and directions to the original recipe quite a bit, to see the differences check out this Maple Sausage Corn Bread Pudding Recipe.
