Shopping Spree for Under $25 Ross Challenge

November 5, 2013 by Momstart 1 Comment

We sent Dayna off on a Shopping Spree to Ross( Ross provided the gift card), and her challenge was to purchase clothes for under $25.00. Here are her results:

By Dayna:

My oldest daughter has been growing like a weed lately, and she has needed new clothes, but I’ve been putting off taking her to the store.  Am I a horrible mom, forcing my daughter into high-water pants, and belly-baring shirts that make her look like Miley Cyrus?  No, it’s simply a matter of survival, since her two-year-old sister and one-month-old brother would make shopping for clothes impossible.  So I finally left the littles with Daddy for a couple of hours, and took their older sister shopping.IMG_0515

Wanting to be sure I could stay in budget, I headed to Ross Dress for Less, one of my go-to’s for everything from clothes and shoes to house decor and kids’ toys.  Sure enough, my old friend Ross did not disappoint me, with prices up to 60% off the department stores’.  However, it wasn’t long before my little girl’s eyes wandered from the clothes towards the shiny toys, and soon we were faced with every mom’s least favorite shopping scenario: "Mommy, pleeease can I get this toy?"  Uh oh.  Toys were not in my budget.  I started to argue with her, at which point, I saw that we were headed for tantrum territory, when I suddenly glimpsed the price tag on the object of her desire.  Hang on, I could buy her an outfit, the toy, and still have money left over!  Wow, that had never happened before!  IMG_0517

With promises made to share the toy with her sister, we headed toward the register.  On our way there, I spotted my husband’s favorite candies.  Seeing as he’d held down our screaming two-year-old while we left the house without her, he probably deserved a little pick-me-up, too.  As we left the store with an adorable outfit for my daughter, a pair of walkie-talkies to promote shared playtime between sisters, and a bag of candy for my patient husband, I patted myself on the back for getting it all for under $25.  Thanks, Ross.

Get Ready for Back-to-School with Ross Dress for Less Giveaway

September 7, 2013 by Momstart 62 Comments

It’s that time – back-to-school! Or for our family first-time-to school. Waahhh. I get teared up just thinking about my newly turned 5 year-old heading off to full-day kindergarten.  To help us get prepared for school I was graciously provided with a gift card and sent out to have a Ross Dress for Less shopping experience. photo-29

Since Kindergarten is quickly approaching Avery and I used the gift card as an opportunity to drop her younger sister off with grandma and make a girl’s day of it.  We got a coffee (she opted for a smoothie), ran a few quick errands then headed to our closest Ross Dress for Less location. (link: http://www.rossstores.com) photo-30

Now, I have been a Ross shopper for years. And I have taken Avery and her younger sister along on a few occasions.  Truth be told I prefer to go by myself so I can take my time to look, but this time we were after a fun shopping experience together. Every time I shop at Ross I find something I love at a great price.  Usually I end up finding much more then I went shopping for and have to make tough decisions what I really like & what I can’t live without.photo-31

We weren’t sure what we were looking for so we started in the purses, but we didn’t get much past the shoes. Ha!  We decided together that it would be nice for Mommy to get something since Avery was already prepared for school.  Once we found my size she started lining up shoes for me to try on that she thought I would like.

photo-33After trying on about 20 pairs I decided on a great pair of lace-up boots. I love how they zip up the side and I can wear them with skinny jeans, leggings or skirts.  I really enjoyed shopping with Avery and seeing what she picked out for me to try.  So often I’m picking out or suggesting clothes or shoes for her, I enjoyed the role reversal.  It was also funny seeing what she thinks I like, and for the most part she made some good picks.photo-32

We did walk through the kid’s clothes and toys and of course she found a bunch of things she liked.  At that time she started to question her generous suggestion to use the gift card on Mom, but she held true to her word.  Since we’d already spent the gift card we resolved to start our late fall and winter clothing shopping at Ross.

Since our shopping trip she’s already asked me when we’re going back to Ross Dress for Less for some cute clothes for her and her sister.  For the time being we are set, but once the weather turns cooler we’re definitely heading back to shop for them.

Ross Dress for Less Shoe Event

April 15, 2012 by Momstart 430 Comments

Shoes, Shoes, and More Shoes!

By: Ashley

You know by now that my sister is getting married… SOON! Like, in about a month soon… good grief! In addition to making sure that the bride looks AMAZING, part of being the maid of honor/sister of the bride is following directions – the directions from the bride herself. So, when the bride says all bridesmaids need to wear metallic sandals, I know that means I need to buy some metallic sandals. Lucky for me, the Ross Dress for Less Shoe Event is in full swing!

DSC00928

I am a regular Ross shopper. I love going there for bags, sweaters, odds and ends for the kitchen, dress shirts for my husband, kids things, and SHOES! We have always tried to live within our means and only buy things when we need them. So when I have a reason to buy some new shoes, I am ALL OVER IT! I still try to be responsible with it though. That’s why Ross is always a go to for me. It was no different when I headed out to buy my metallic sandals.

DSC00924

Ross offers 20-60 percent off of department store prices every day! That means that during the Ross Shoe Event, you can find any type of spring shoe that you could possibly want at a GREAT price. After trying on SEVERAL different types of dressy metallic sandals, I finally found THE ONES! I love the wedge sandals that I found and I was honestly surprised at what a good deal they were! I actually ended up getting the wedges for me, and a pair of sandals for Atticus – and I paid less than the cost of the wedges at retail price! I came home with 2 pairs of shoes for $35! How great is that?

Sometime you also might want to enter this giveaway though for a $25 Ross gift card that you could use to add something new to your wardrobe. Maybe you’re in the market for some metallic sandals too! I hear wedges and metallic colors are in!

Back To School Savings with Ross $25 Giveaway

July 24, 2011 by Momstart 522 Comments

Just last weekend, July 16th, four new stores opened in our area and this is great news just in time for back to school shopping!

New Local Locations:

· Lake Forest Park Town Center at 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park

· Sequim Village Market Place at 1055 West Washington Street, Sequim

· Bear Creek Village at 17170 Redmond Way, Redmond

· Burien Shopping Center at 15716 First Avenue South, Burien.

The grand opening events happened during my camping trip so I had to miss it. But the Ross Dress for less savings were still waiting on me when I made it there this weekend with Zoe.

Back to school shopping with my mother often took place in Ross. We were always on a budget growing up and Ross is a great place to find deals on clothing and many other things you need. Ross makes finding savings on the latest styles easy, with frequent shipments of current fashions and brand-name merchandise, so you will always find outstanding values on first-quality, in-season apparel, shoes, and accessories in Ross stores.

Zoe and I went into Ross to start our own back to school shopping memories. We scoped out the deals together. The back-to-school selection includes jeans, tees, hoodies, jackets, and shoes for kids of all ages.

My Great find at TJMaxx today.

August 20, 2009 by Momstart 2 Comments

Today I needed to buy a suitcase. I have ended up with way too much stuff from blogging trips and from family and my own purchases. I went to three different places to find a Suitcase.

I went to Walmart

29          I found a Jeep suitcase with wheels that looked really sturdy but it was 59.00 so, I wanted to shop around. It looked good but I was hoping for something other than black.

.

I went to Ross

I found another name brand and now I can’t remember but it was also 69.00 so I wanted to look at TJMaxx before I made up my mind.

I went to TJMaxx

Chaps Varsity Elite Luggage Collection        I found the perfect suitcase at a great value, Chaps. For 59.00 I found a suitcase that was the largest size 29 in (same as the Jeep) and excellent quality. It was also not just the plain black that every other person has. It is blue and orange. I’m very happy with my great deal today.

I also had no idea how much fun kids can have in a suitcase.’
