Reading is Fundamental (RIF) is a charity I can get behind because Reading is Fundamental to our children’s success. My kids love to read and I’m lucky because of how easy it is for us to get books. It’s not so easy for everyone. RIF is the oldest and largest children’s and family nonprofit literacy organization in the United States. All RIF programs combine three essential elements to foster children’s literacy: reading motivation, family and community involvement, and the excitement of choosing free books to keep.
As a proud partner of RIF, Nestlé Family is sending us $100 worth of books to donate to a school of our choice. So we’re going to find a local school or charity to give them too. I’m learning towards giving them to a hospital in Seattle. As I’m thinking about where to send them, I’d love your ideas. I’d also love to know how the school year is going for you. So would Nestle!
How is your school year going? Our just started, Wednesday was the first day of school and it’s going fine. We only had two days of school this week. One thing we’re focusing on is having really great healthy after school snacks along with some fun treats too. Nestle sure does know how to do special treats right? We’re having a small giveaway of special treats from Nestle, a Back to School Survival kit. In this survival kit you’ll find a gift card and coupons for awesome Nestle products.
Nestle has a larger sweepstakes going on too, the Happy New School Year Sweepstakes. Feel free to enter every day for a chance to win the grand prize of $5,000 worth of back-to-school essentials plus a $2,000 NESTLÉ Literacy Grant for your school, plus daily prizes of $50 reward cards. The Happy New Year Back To School sweepstakes ends October 15, 2011.
