Sometimes, you learn about an organization. An organization with an amazing platform, inspiring stories, a great structure… and KNOW you need to be a part of it. This past weekend while in NYC for BlogHer, Louise and I were lucky enough to attend a luncheon sponsored by Reebok. It was all about an amazing program called BOKS. BOKS is all about getting our school kids ACTIVE! With the rate of childhood obesity nearly doubling over the past 7 years, we need to make a change.
There are so many things that spoke to me about the BOKS program. As a former teacher, I know firsthand how much our kids in school need more exercise. The fact that BOKS has data showing the positive impact exercise has on students’ performance in school just sealed the deal.
Having suffered from issues with anxiety my whole life, I can also say that YES – exercise does help you feel better and think better. When teaching, I saw how many students just needed to run, move, and play. Learning about BOKS and how they were bringing this to so many schools, brought a smile to my face. I knew immediately that I wanted to get involved… and I wanted to bring all of you guys in on the fun too!
Louise and I are both excited about BOKS, and can’t wait to share our BOKS journey with you. If you fall in love with the program like we have, you can join in too! Make sure you visit BOKS online to check out their program and learn more about bringing it to your school.
A BIG thanks to Reebok for inviting Louise and I to lunch… and to BOKS for letting us know about such a great program.
