Hyperchargers R/C Vehicles by Jada toys come in several styles that are sure to please any car enthusiast. Car styles are: Bentley Continental SS, Ford Mustang GT, Chevy Camaro, Dodge Challenger SRT 8, Chevy Corvette Stingray Concept, Toyota Supra, Scion FRS, Ford F150 Raptor Truck and Chevy Silverado.
The Scion FRS R/C car looked really cool in the box. It had great packaging and I was relieved to see that it doesn’t need batteries! The built-in USB cord hooks up to many personal electronic devices to charge for hours of entertainment. That is about as far as it went for us though, it looks cool.
This was kind of a miss for us for a few reasons. First of all the hype about “not needing batteries” was short lived. It is true that the car is rechargeable and having to replace expensive batteries is a big deal. BUT, you actually do need batteries to get the controller to work. It doesn’t do you much good to have a fully charged car if your controller does not work. The battery discrepancy was kind of a put off for me but my guy was still so excited to try it. That too was short lived.
The car looks like it would be a speedy little thing but it wasn’t. The Scion barely made it up the small hill to an area where we could really open it up. The Girlmazing R/C vehicle also by Jada that we were testing was literally doing circles around the poor little Scion that could. In addition to the lack of speed, you could not be more than about 5 feet from the car to the remote. Once up and running at a reasonable speed do not follow behind or stand very near the car. it will stall. That brought the excitement and need for speed to a screeching halt. His focus quickly turned to his sister’s car which he is not a little envious of.
If you have a younger car enthusiast that you are looking for an inexpensive R/C for then this would do the job. If you have an older, more experienced driver you may end up as disappointed as we were.
Jada Toys is a great company and has some fantastic toys and R/C vehicles but unfortunately the Hyperchargers R/C Vehicle is not a MomStart mom or kid recommended toy.
