Wow, this has been a crazy year for me I’m always on the go. The kids are acting so we have to drive to auditions. Then of course we’re in traffic. I also home school the kids which takes up a lot of my time and then as you can see I work from home. So getting out of the house is quite a task. I hardly ever go to the doctor, in fact that last time I was sick I didn’t go to the doctor until Sunday. I had to go to the clinic in our neighborhood because it was a Sunday and most doctors do not work Sundays. My family doctor doesn’t.
I’ve just learned that Providence has created a new service available in Washington and Oregon where you can talk to a health care provider and get basic care without leaving your home. You may be thinking what’s the difference between this and talking to a health care provider over the phone? The difference is your smart device that you are using to chat with the health care provider has a camera on it, a really good camera too. So you can speak face to face and not just voice to voice. Seeing their faces makes the experience that much more personal. You can see the expression on their faces, they can see yours so they get an idea of what you’re feeling through your face to face connection. You can also show them what’s wrong if it’s a rash, so much easier than just describing the red ness. It just makes it easy for you to have a personal consultation with the health care provider.
Health eXpress is open Monday – Friday 8am-8pm and Sat/Sun 9am-5pm PST. There is only a 5 minute wait, so no more wasted time on a Sunday waiting in a clinic. YEAH! It’s a live virtual visit that uses secure video and audio. Providence uses their own doctors and nurse practitioners to provide the service. You get a diagnosis and treatment recommendations including a prescription if you need one.
They have providers you trust that are licensed and board-certified. Most other virtual health care services pull from a pool of third-party providers. Even if you think you’re choosing a service through a respectable Health System, the providers you’re seeing are likely not even part of that health system. They use secure, HIPAA-compliant technology, encrypting all communication over the internet. It’s so nice when all your information is in one place. I can’t even remember what dosage medication I take, or that I’m allergic to Z-pacs. Well I remember now because that last time I went to the clinic they prescribed one and I had terrible side effects. Health eXpress is a system built for the average every day person that has a full plate and going to see a doctor is difficult to manage with time or with budget.
Some great reasons to use Health eXpress:
You need a refill and you are out of them
You don’t have time to see a doctor but aren’t feeling well
Certain skin issues
