Field of Vision Video Camera

June 7, 2011 by Momstart 880 Comments

Have you ever seen the footage from the old Charlie Chaplin Movie where people speculate that the person in the background of the movie is a time traveler with a cell phone. It’s really creepy footage of someone walking behind the action and they look like they are talking on something up to their ear. The camera caught it….

That’s what Field of Vision reminds me of except it’s not creepy at all.

imageThrough mysterious footage captured on an old malfunctioning video camera, Sinclair High School’s star quarterback, Tyler McFarland, learns that some of his teammates have been bullying Cory Walker, a troubled new transfer student.  Aware that sharing this information with the coach might get his friends kicked off the team and ultimately cost the school the state championship, Tyler must choose what’s more important: winning or doing what’s right. As these events unfold, the camera also reveals more surprising footage to Tyler’s kid sister Lucy, as she learns that Cory has a secret past, unknown even to him. Now Lucy must convince her mom (Faith Ford, Murphy Brown) and family that the camera’s revealing insight is not a product of her imagination as she enlists their help to find the answers Cory so desperately needs.

The newest installment from Procter & Gamble and Walmart’s Family Movie night initiative is bringing quality entertainment back to the television. Field of Vision is a teenage football movie safe for the whole family keeping out the locker room scenes and the focus of the movie is on Cory Walker and his needs and not all of the teenage angst that usually goes along with football movies. Blogger Giveaway Kit3

Be sure to watch Field of Vision on Saturday June 11th at 8/7c on NBC

Would You Take A Walk In My Shoes with Walmart and P&G

November 27, 2010 by Momstart 95 Comments

I often wonder why people jump to conclusions and judge each other. Like me, yeah, I’m guilty of judging other’s and when I do, I stay up all night worrying about how cruel what I said was. Being a blogger, it’s reversed too. People don’t know anything about me other than what I write on this blog. But they are so quick to judge and write cruel comments. I know, I’m putting myself out there, but it still hurts. You should take a walk in My Shoes before you make a comment that could hurt! That’s advice that you should use on anyone you know, even strangers. Especially strangers, talking about the way people are dressed, or how they talk or look is just wrong!

This weekend, I had the opportunity to watch preview A Walk In My Shoes this weekend and it was really good. What a thoughtful way to enter the lives of a triangle of people. In A Walk In My Shoes Trish (Nancy Travis) a mother that is way to busy to pay any attention to her family becomes Cindy Kremer (Jana Lee Hamblin) a doting mother not able to make ends meet. When Trish becomes the mother of Mikey (Jackson Pace, a really cute kid with a lot of spunk) and Justin (Cameron Deane Stewart, who has family local to me) they are kicked out of their house with an eviction notice. To help Trish out, a crazy lady Molly (Yara Martinez) and a Marine Jake (Philip Winchester) trying to adjust to civilian life. Family movies always make me cry and this one had me crying in the first five minutes. It was a great movie of a family finding out how to deal with the death of their father, and finding a way to get back on their feet with the help of another family. This is not your typical “Freaky Friday” type of movie. Here only one person makes the trade as she learns not to judge someone before taking A walk in their shoes.

Filmed in Portland Oregon, A Walk In My Shoes is the next installment of Proctor & Gamble and Walmart’s Family Movie night. A Walk In My Shoes premiers December 3 at 8/7c on NBC. I was on the movie set of A Walk In My Shoes in Portland and I learned a lot about how Walmart and P & G plan on bringing Movie Night Back.

While there, I had the opportunity to meet the cast and some of my piers as we were on the set of A Walk in My Shoes.

MommyQ, Me, Actor Nancy Travis , EightyMPHMom, Betty Confidential, The Spohrs are Multiplying, and Our Ordinary Life

I was amazed at how it seemed like each person on the project felt like they have a stake and it is there personal responsibility to bring quality television back.

For family night to truly return to television, it is up to the viewers, the viewers are going to have to demand it. Unless we want to watch quality TV and refuse to watch crap, it won’t change. Help Family night make a come back and watch A Walk in My Shoes December 3rd 8/7c on NBC. You know, A Walk In My Shoes could become a great TV Series, tell me what you think?

Once a month Proctor and Gamble put out a coupon booklet called P & G BrandSAVER. This insert contains great money saving coupons to purchase Proctor and Gamble products. This week there will be certain items selected to be part of a new campaign: Have You Tried This Yet?

Have You Tried This Yet? will be supported through a variety of consumer touch-points. On Sunday, October 31, P&G will distribute a brandSAVER, a complimentary coupon booklet that features more than $113 in savings on the campaign’s featured innovative products, in local newspapers throughout the country.

In a national survey conducted in September 2010 among 1,000 nationally representative women in the United States, 48 percent state the majority of bS_070410_Covertheir daily stress occurs inside their homes, with more than half saying they often feel overwhelmed with all the responsibilities they face in caring for their loved ones, including shopping for all their families’ needs.

In addition to the insert, from October 22 – 31, a free, interactive Have You Tried This Yet? Pop-Up experience will be open to the public in New York City. Located at 101 West 57th Street (near 6th Avenue), the Pop-Up will be open Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday – Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and will offer free demonstrations and product samples from brands such as Tide®, Bounty®, Pringles®, Charmin®, Febreze®, COVERGIRL®, and Olay®, allowing consumers to experience first-hand bouncethe innovations and value each product offers.

“At P&G we are committed to responding to our consumers’ needs and providing straightforward solutions for everyday issues,” says Nataraj Iyer, Associate Marketing Director P&G U.S. Operations. Fifty-one percent of women said they feel overwhelmed when shopping for family essentials. “The Have You Tried This Yet? initiative offers many of P&G’s most innovative products, which can help moms conveniently meet their daily needs, as well as those of their families.”

I love Proctor & Gamble, we use so many of their products and I love that we can save money while doing it. I was interviewed by Proctor and Gamble at BlogHer and they asked me if I was familiar with all of the products Proctor & Gamble makes. I’m very familiar with their brands because of the BrandSaver and all of their opportunities on-line to try products for free.  For budget friendly ideas from value blogger Kim Danger, as well as additional information on the Have You Tried This Yet? campaign and the NYC Pop-Up experience, visit www.pgtryit.com.

Proctor & Gamble sent me product samples featured in this month’s coupon insert in exchange for this post! Be sure to check out the savings and save some money.

Hate Visiting the Dentist No More

September 20, 2010 by Momstart 5 Comments

I hate visiting the dentist and have to report that I go very irregularly. I went to the dentist last week right before a bottle of Crest Pro Health mouth rinse showed up on my door step. It was four years since the last time I went. And four years ago I knew I had some cavities that I needed to take care of, I just didn’t want to. They don’t cause me any pain so I just didn’t bother. My visit actually was quite pleasant as far as dentist visits go. The entire office was nice and no one pressured me about how long it had been since my last visit. My results were quite good considering my past. I have three cavities that I need filled and the dentist said they are all very small and will be easy to take care of.

I’m still a little nervous about going back though and having those cavities filled. The dentist recommended that I brush more on the inside of my mouth where my tongue is, use an electric toothbrush which I already do, and visit the dentist every six months.

I decided to start using a mouth wash in addition to their recommendations. I have always enjoyed using a mouth wash, my mouth just feels so much cleaner after I use one.

CPH Complete[2]INTRODUCING CREST® PRO-HEALTH® COMPLETE RINSE

Provides Excellent Oral Care for a Better Dental Check-Up

Through the Use of Fluoride

Crest Pro-Health Complete contains fluoride to help prevent cavities and strengthen enamel.

Crest Pro-Health Complete provides six benefits in one and helps users achieve a better checkup at their next dental visit by strengthening teeth and helping to prevent cavities.

Crest Pro-Health Complete strengthens your teeth, cleans your mouth and fights bad breath – all without the burn of alcohol!

Since I received the Crest Pro Health at this perfect time, I’ll actually be able to see a difference before I go to the dentist again. I’m quite excited about a few different things. One, the color is beautiful and you know it’s Zoe’s favorite color, so I didn’t even let her see it. She’s just going to want to drink it and I can’t let that happen. Two, it is supposed to re-build enamel while preventing cavities, cleaning my teeth, freshening my breath all without the burn of alcohol. And there is no burn. I’ve been using it for four days now. The Third thing that excites me is that when I spit, it’s chunky, so it makes me think that it is actually working. Yeah, it’s kind of grouse too, but not really because it’s purple!

“I wrote this review while participating in a test drive campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Crest and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

My Experience with Pampers Dry Max

May 18, 2010 by Momstart 5 Comments

image I was one of the 50 or so parent bloggers that were contacted on behalf of Proctor and Gamble to try the new Pampers Dry Max diapers. They sent me a bag of diapers to try for a week so that I could write a review and then host a giveaway for them. I did that and had no problems with the diapers. I even liked them enough to switch from using Huggies Supreme, and I’ve been using Huggies for three years without interruption.

The diapers smell great and work well for us. We haven’t had any issues with diaper rashes or leaking. The only issue I had was that those little gell pellets were on my son once, but my husband said that happened because I left the diaper on my son too long. We used to have the problem with Huggies too, so of course I believe that it’s my error. It’s certainly not a new diaper issue and neither are diaper rashes for that matter. We all know diapers do cause diaper rashes, it’s the nature of the beast. We have had diaper rashes off and on no matter what brand we are using, sometimes if I give the kids too much juice they get a diaper rash. The acidity in the juice makes them more sensitive. It is usually a sign that I need to change the diaper more often. We were also told by our doctor that when they are sick, they are more likely to get a diaper rash. I’m not a doctor, but I am interested to see what really is behind all of the uproar over these new diapers. I almost feel like moms are upset over the initial reaction from Proctor & Gamble, and not the fact that their children have diaper rashes.

Pampers Dry Max diapers are not dangerous to use, they are made of the same “tried and tested ingredients” (Proctor & Gamble Press Release). I was contacted again on behalf of Proctor and Gamble to share with you the statistics and facts about how rigorously they were tested before they were released; but it’s just numbers. It’s not as personal as me telling you. I USE THEM. I have no problems with them.  I do however, have to pay more attention to when my child goes potty. It is easy not to notice that they went because the diapers are so thin. I’m one of those parents that pats their child down to see if they went potty. If I can’t feel it that must mean they didn’t go right. No, with Pampers new Dry Max, they might have gone, so just changing them every few hours is better than taking the chance that they didn’t go. I also find that sometimes I have to really look into the diaper to see if my son went poo poo because the diapers smell so good.

Proctor & Gamble are standing behind their product because they did test it. They are standing behind their product because they believe it works and as far as my family is concerned it does work.

I did receive on bag of diapers free,  but I have purchased the rest I’ve used myself.

Secrets of the Mountain DVD and Soundtrack Giveaway

April 8, 2010 by Momstart 262 Comments

SOTM_poster_24x36Walmart contacted me about a movie they had made with Proctor and Gamble and at first I thought it was a joke. I even watched a few seconds of it and had to wonder, is this really a movie? In the background, you see all this product placement of “Great Value” and that is Walmart’s store brand. So I thought with it being April 1st and all someone was trying to get me. As I got to watching it further I though, this looks like a great film. The character development caught me and I mean, it looks like a family night at the movies kind of film. I want to find out what is going to happen to all of the characters.

Walmart sent me a teaser and a little care package with popcorn in it. You can watch it yourself here:

Plot Summary
Somewhere between the demands of her career, her ex’s wedding and her kids’ busy schedules, Dana James is noticing her tight-knit family starting to unravel.  An unexpected offer to purchase her family’s mountain property sets up a weekend road trip, which she hopes will bring her family back together.  But when they arrive, they quickly learn that the mountain is much more than it seems.  An ancient secret and a treacherous quest will test the family like never before.  It’s an edge-of the-seat thriller that reminds us that when times are tough, families don’t run away from problems – they run back to each other. The Mountain
