Popsicle Rules Back To School #PopsicleRules

September 24, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

This is a partnered post with Popsicle

We’ve been in school for a little over three weeks now and it has changed our lives. We are home schooling and the transition is complicated, emotional and amazing. It’s funny how something can be so live changing for all of us and be a good thing. Now, this post isn’t going to be about home schooling or an update on how my family is doing homeschooling, I still owe you guys that post and it will be coming soon. This post is about some great back to school tips that I have to share with you as we are getting back into our regular routing.

Popsicle worked with consumers and created the Summer Rules For Being A Kid Guidebook and it was full of fun rules. You can visit the site www.popsiclerules.com read the book, and download it to read with your kids. You can also find the guidebook on the Facebook at facebook.com/Popsicle page and on Twitter at twitter.com/Popsicle. And it’s because of this partnership that I’m going to now share my rules on getting back into a regular routine.

My First suggestion is to set a regular bedtime and stick to it. Kids need sleep for growth and brain power while they are sitting through their day.

Being a Kid & Cool and Refreshing Popsicle Rules #PopsicleRules

May 22, 2014 by Momstart 4 Comments

I’m a popsicle ambassador and receive samples and compensation for my time my opinion is my own.

The heat is on in Seattle and without air conditioners most of us resort to something cold and refreshing for the later afternoon hours. Our hottest part of the day is between 4-6 which is so strange since the sun sets at 7 right now. Anyway, one thing I feel really comfortable giving my kids is a Popsicle.

Popsicle, America’s original ice pop and well known brand due to the popularity of them is asking families to help create a book of rules for being a kid. In our family to be a kid or have fun like a kid you have to be a fan of LEGOS. image

And able to enjoy a good popsicle on the back porch or from inside a box. RULE: It’s hip to be square!

image

Families nationwide are encouraged to celebrate their kid-at-heart and share their own “rules” for how to have fun like a kid with Popsicle®, along with photos and images that help bring the rule to life. To help spread the word and excitement surrounding the “Rules for Being a Kid” guidebook, Popsicle® will feature submitted “rules” from fans and celebrity parents alike via their social media sites. Follow Popsicle® on Facebook at facebook.com/Popsicle and on Twitter at twitter.com/Popsicle to see unique “Rules for Being a Kid” shared with fans before the launch of the guidebook.

By suggestion rules you will be entered to win popsicles. Act fast though because rules are only accepted until May 31. Submit your “rule” ideas on the Popsicle® Facebook page, or on other popular social channels, such as Twitter and Pinterest, using both the #PopsicleRules and #Contest hashtags. By submitting your rules with the hashtags, you will be entered for the chance to have your “rule” featured on future, limited-edition boxes of Popsicle® pops as well as a cash prize. That would be so fun to see your kid on a Popsicle box.

The guidebook will be available for download on June 21 at Facebook.com/Popsicle and will feature the top submitted rules.

DID YOU KNOW?

The first ice pop was created by accident in 1905 when 11-year-old Frank Epperson left a glass of homemade soda on his porch on a very cold San Francisco night. The next morning he went to go get the soda and it was frozen. Using the stirring stick that he had also left in the glass, he pulled it out and tried it. "Popsicle"

Host a Themed (Halloween) Popsicle Party #PopsicleMom & Giveaway

October 25, 2013 by Momstart 355 Comments

I’m a Popsicle Mom working with the Popsicle Brand to bring you guys a Popsicle summer. I am being compensated for my time, but all my opinions and love of the brand belong to me.

I was looking at the Popsicle Facebook page and I saw this really cute idea. What a great fun way to decorate your table and let the kids have popsicles. I love letting the kids have popsicles because they are so low in calories and the kids consider it a snack plus they really can be eaten at any time. It doesn’t have to be summer and it doesn’t have to be warm.

popsicle Halloween party

So I put together a Halloween party and my party was so much fun and easy to decorate the table. This table took me five minutes to create.

IMG_9130

Popsicles are a great decoration to a paper cup or a clear glass. I find that the effect in the clear glass is even cooler. Plus no matter what theme you decide to go with you’ll find a matching color popsicle to go with it.

IMG_9129

Even when the popsicles start to melt I still they look really cool in the glasses.

IMG_9131

The kids love reading the jokes after they eat their popsicles. Now, I also found some really great crafts to do with popsicle sticks, I’m going to save that for one of my HP projects so stay tuned.

Ice Chest Popsicle Travels #Popsiclemom #Giveaway #Ad @Popsicle

September 25, 2013 by Momstart 142 Comments

I’m a Popsicle Mom working with the Popsicle Brand to bring you guys a Popsicle summer. I am being compensated for my time, but all my opinions and love of the brand belong to me.

DID YOU KNOW?

Way back in 1905, an 11-year old named Frank Epperson left a mixture of powdered soda, water, and a stirring stick in a cup on his porch on a cold night. When he awoke the next morning he found a frozen pop. He called it the “Epsicle.”

It was a hit with his friends at school, and later with his own kids. Kids and adults alike were always asking for a “Pop’s ‘sicle.” So in 1923, Epperson changed the name and the rest is history!

That’s a fun fact about a fun company we enjoy all year round. As I said we would last month, we took our Popsicles on the road with us. We loaded up our Popsicles and handed them out at the park and had our very own popsicle pop up party. It was really a lot of fun just handing out Popsicles. It’s amazing, some people are quite skeptical about getting something for free, but children, they could care less.

image

One thing I loved about the location we chose is that after getting all sticky with their Popsicle they could just jump back in the wading pool and get clean and cool off some more.

Be brave, load up some Popsicles in an ice chest and go on location.

Oh and I had to tell you that the ice cream man showed up at the lake a while later while we were having dinner and I didn’t see anyone run up to his truck. We showed him!

What’s a Popsicle Pop Up Party? #popsiclemom

August 29, 2013 by Momstart 2 Comments

A Popsicle Pop Up Party is when you throw on your Popsicle gear, open up the freezer, fill up an ice chest full of Popsicles and share then with all your friends. It took a TV show to explain to me what exactly a pop up party was, yep, I had no idea that a pop up party is another term for a spur of the moment party that you start texting, tweeting, sharing on Facebook to get people to come to it type of party. Well, since I have a blog I’m using my platform to share our pop up party. IMG_7871

These are my two adorable popsicle twins, NO, they aren’t really twins, well, you could call them Irish twins because they are less than 18 months apart. Miles and Zoe, are 14 months apart and best buddies and the worst enemies at the same time. One thing they can both agree on though, is that anytime is a good time for a popsicle party and they LOVE to share them with friends.

IMG_7873

He’s beat me to the freezer today as he’s trying to get out some popsicles for our pop up party. Even Dad’s going to join us for some Popsicle fun.

IMG_7869

Now we just have to find some friends, which is never a hard thing living in the culdesac. We found them as soon as we opened our garage door and look they are already in the party mood.

IMG_7863

Only problem was they all had to ask their parents and it was close to dinner time for some. So when they asked they were told no and our party had to be put on hold for some better planning. IMG_7864

We’re going to try again on Labor Day and this time we’re going to take it on location. We’re planning on going over to Greenlake and we’re going to fill up our ice chest with the many different flavors of popsicles and have a real pop up party with whomever happens to be at the splash pad when we arrive. I hope it’s a hot sunny day and that everyone is in the mood for a popsicle. So Stay tuned for our #PopsicleMom tweets for our pop up party!

From Popsicle to Water Hose #PopsicleMom #Giveaway @Popsicle #AD

July 18, 2013 by Momstart 63 Comments

I’m a Popsicle Mom working with the Popsicle Brand to bring you guys a Popsicle summer. I am being compensated for my time, but all my opinions and love of the brand belong to me.

Want to know the best way to clean off your child after letting them have a Popsicle?

20130714_150951

Well first you have to start off by telling them to go put their swimsuit on and then send them outside saying we’re going to play in the water. Then after they come downstairs you ask them if they want a popsicle, in fact, we like to let the whole neighborhood have a popsicle.

Popsicles drip, they dribble sometimes they even fall apart before the kids can finish them. It depends on the age of the kid and how hot it is outside. My son always turns red purple or green, I mean he turns the color of the popsicle as he’s trying to finish his. Sometimes I wonder if any of it made it into his mouth. Well, we got the hose out and when they were done I just sprayed them all off. Of course they run away screaming and hating me, until, they come right back and say do it again.

LOL…yep this is how we roll20130714_151013

They kept coming back again and again

We had a great time and while I was doing this I was able to also spray away all the Popsicle dribbles, making sure we keep those pesky ants away. So how do you clean a child up after they have had Popsicles?

YOU HOSE THEM DOWN!

When Is A Good Time To Have A Popsicle? #PopsicleMom

July 17, 2013 by Momstart 1 Comment

I’m so excited to be a popsicle mom again, well last year I was a yosicle mom a yo mom and I loved it. Now I’m happy to be back with the Popsicle Brand to bring you guys a Popsicle summer. I am being compensated for my time, but all my opinoins and love of the brand belong to me. Oh and so do the adorable purple and pink cheeks you’ll see all summer long in photos. I love popsicles because you can let your kids eat as many of them as they want and I’ve stocked my freezer for the summer…..Have you?????

Popsicle MomBadge_Final

I wanted to share with you guys to start off with, where and when having a Popsicle would be a good idea.

1. When your ac isn’t working. Here in Washington it’s actually rare to have an air conditioner and when the weather gets hot it’s insufferable inside your home. Popsicles are a great way to beat the heat.

2. When you get a boo boo. My children get boo boos all the time and about two years ago at church my son got a huge goose egg on his head running into the corner of someone’s chair. He was inconsolable, until one of the pastors mentioned a Popsicle. Oh wow, his whole attitude changed.

3. At a Barbeque. Whenever you have a barbeque you should offer a dessert and Popsicle is easy to pass out to everyone. I mean, popsicles are practically synonyms with BBQ when it comes to things that remind you of summer, at least that’s how it works for me.

4. At the swimming pool. I guess I feel more like any outdoor activity qualifies for a Popsicle.

5. At a block party. You’re in your neighborhood already and you don’t have to tote an ice chest. Just run inside when it’s time for the Popsicles open the boxes and place them on a table and watch them disappear.

When is it a good time to have a popsicle?

Actual Answer: Anytime you want to

Who’s Your Marvel Super Hero Popsicle?

August 15, 2012 by Momstart 21 Comments

Taking the kids to the grocery store and letting them pick out their own box of popsicles We’ll talk about what Zoe picked out later this month but for now I want to talk about what Miles picked out. Miles picked out the Marvel Super Hero box of popsicles. Miles loves being a super hero. He loves being Iron Man, Super Man, Thor and so many more.

image

What’s better than a kid using their imagination pretending to be a super hero or pretending to be anything. I love listening to their stories as they play. Miles runs around saving the princess of the neighborhood, when he’s not causing the trouble. Sometimes he has to cause a little trouble for the girls before he can jump in and save the day. I’ve heard him say multiple times “I’m not the bad guy anymore, I’m the good guy”. He cracks me up.

Marvel Popsicle

These Marvel Heroes popsicles feature Spider-man The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man. You guys know Iron Man 3 will be coming out sometime next year, I think it’s May 3rd. These popsicles are multi-flavored and I didn’t hear any complaints from the kids.

image

Zoe just didn’t want to take the time to pose for the photo. She wanted to enjoy her popsicle as slowly as the heat would let her. So my question is who is your favorite super hero?

My favorite super hero is batman. I love the dark night, I know he’s not a Marvel super hero he’s a DC character but still he’s my favorite. His story and what happens to him has interested me since I was a very little girl. The first time I saw Batman the movie I wanted to be batgirl. (even though she wasn’t in the movie). So that’s my embarrassing fact.

Go out and enjoy the summer fun using your imagination and let a box of Marvel Heroes Popsicle inspire some fun.

Like Popsicle on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/Popsicle and follow @Popsicle on Twitter at www.Twitter.com/Popsicle for trivia, jokes, product news and a chance to win Popsicle® product coupons.

Finding Summer In A Box with Popsicle

July 5, 2012 by Momstart 25 Comments

You will not believe that I actually forgot it was summer. Yep, twice. Last month was a Juneuary and I’m hoping that July will warm and brighten up. It’s been so cold that I actually turned my heat back on a few times. When I traveled to California last month I wore my boots and my feet got so hot while I was walking around Disneyland. I couldn’t wait to take my shoes off and wear my sneakers instead. I went back home and then yet again left my house. I traveled to Nashville and then to Detroit and I forgot to take a pair of sneakers with me. I only took my boots, forgetting that the rest of the country actually is experiencing summer heat. Sigh. I come back to Washington to find that it’s still COLD.

IMG_3461

WHERE ARE YOU SUMMMER, ARE YOU IN A BOX?

Summer just popped out in time for 4th of July and we’re hoping to hold on to it for a while before the rain comes back.. My son popped out of a box on the 4th of July too. Who said kids need toys or anything fancy. All they need is a regular popsicle, orange in my son’s case and a cardboard box for an hour of entertainment.

IMG_3459

The boxes turned into motor boats that I had to push and pull up and down our street. They were caverns the kids explored and found treasures, and they were shipping boxes. Miles didn’t like being closed in the box for too long, it was warm for us outside and inside the box probably got kinda hot. Cooling off with a Popsicle was refreshing.

IMG_3455

Zoe enjoyed her popsicle too. With so many different flavors and options you can never go wrong with a Popsicle. We have Firecracker Popsicles in the freezer to try out next and I can’t wait to also try out the Sour Patch Kids popsicles and the Jolly Rancher popsicles. The kids really tried hard to get me to by Sponge Bob popsicles and Dora, but I’m not swayed by the characters like they, however, before the summer is over we’ll probably have tried all of them. It’s a popsicle kind of summer I’ve decided, no matter what the weather.
