Why Buy a Sony Xperia Premium and Xperia Ultra @Sony @BestBuy #AD

New Sony Phones

I love testing out phones and I almost got to test out the Sony Xperia. The Sony Xperia feels really light in the hand and has an amazing screen. These things I do know from experience. What I also know is that you can now purchase the Xperia XA1 Ultra and the Sony Xperia XZ Premium at Best Buy. Two new Sony Phones are amazing and using top of the line technology.

New Sony Phone

Let’s break the phones down individually shall we?

Two New Sony Phones

Sony Xperia XA1

The Xperia XA1 has a great display. The screen is borderless and a full 6” edge-to-edge with Full HD display. It provides a great way to watch your favorite movies or other videos. I spend a lot of my time on my phone these days watching videos on Facebook, movies on HBO, and tv on Hulu and Netflix.

The Camera on the Xperia XA1 features two outstanding options, one front facing and the other rear facing. The front-facing is 16MP and can be upgraded to 23mm wide angle. This phone is ONLY available at Best Buy.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the first of it’s kinds as it has a 4K HDR Display and a SUPER SLOW camera. The main camera comes with the world’s first Motion Eye camera system that helps you get the best shot possible. It features a Predictive Capture which is completely new.

The Camera is faster and more powerful as it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. This is how it performs so well creating slow motion videos and allowing you to watch things in 4K. You can even remote play the PS4 which is AMAZING. I’m signing that word….Ahhh..MaaZiing!!!

The New LG G4 on The T-Mobile Network: Your Dream Phone #LGG4

June 9, 2015 by Beeb 1 Comment

LG G4

Phone & service provided.

The brand new LG G4 phone was released last Thursday, and this is one slick phone. With its amazing 16 MP camera, and beautiful 5.5″ IPS Quantum QHD display, it’s an awesome, cutting-edge phone for anyone who snaps a lot of photos and does a lot on the go…like, say, a blogger! Even better, the LG G4 is part of the T-Mobile network, which Jai and I already use. In fact, T-Mobile is the only cell network I’ve ever subscribed to, starting way back with my first cell phone in 2005. Living in a somewhat rural area as we do, it can be a challenge to get reception on many major cell networks, so T-Mobile is a winner for us because it works at home as well as when I’m traveling, along with being the most affordable option. A few other benefits to using T-Mobile include Simple Global International calling plans, Wi-Fi Calling, Data Stash, Music Freedom and At Bat for MLB fans!

Since Jai is our household’s resident Android fan, I couldn’t keep this phone all to myself. He has been testing it out pretty thoroughly, and this is what he had to say about it:

I’ve had several days to check out the new LG G4 and I’ve barely set it down this whole time. So far I love it. Every feature that I care about in a smart phone has been met or exceeded. At first glance, the leather back and rear navigation buttons certainly makes the phone stand out and both have a nice feel, but the first three features that got my attention were the display, the camera, and the built-in speaker. The display is large, sharp, and bright. So far, I haven’t had to turn the screen to over 60% brightness even out in the sun. Photos are vibrant and video playback is perfectly smooth. The 16 Megapixel rear camera has clarity and features that you normally associate with DSLR cameras rather than a smart phone. The fact that you can save pictures in .raw format and take 30 second exposures should say a lot. If that’s not your thing, then you can just keep it in auto-mode to have a very nice point-and-shoot camera. I can say for certain that I won’t be needing to bring my phone *and* a separate camera to events from now on. When I would show family and friends videos one thing that people noticed was how clear and full the sound was coming from the built-in speaker. The sound is clear and carries more like one of the external Bluetooth speakers I normally use with my other phones.

A photo taken with the LG G4 in auto mode

As I learned my way around the LG G4, I found several more features that I really appreciated. One of these is that the G4 has an infrared port at the top of the phone that, with he help of the “Quick Remote” app, can communicate with pretty much every device around your house that uses a remote control. I have not found a TV yet that couldn’t be controlled by this phone. It also has remote control support for projectors, stereos, cable boxes, and of all things, air conditioners. I’d also like to mention how much I grew to like the physical volume and lock buttons being on the back of the phone. This frees up real estate on the front of the phone for more screen space and the recessed buttons are easy to find by feel. The hand holding the phone can use these buttons, allowing your typing hand just that much more freedom of movement. Never once were any of them inadvertently pressed.

The battery life is pretty good. Even under heavy use it can last a full day, and moderate use will get you into a good part of a second day. The phone also features a “Battery Saver” mode. As I understand it, this kicks in when the battery level drops below 15%. However, I never saw my battery level drop below 20%. The thing I like most about the battery is how easy it is to access and change. Taking the back cover off to change the battery isn’t much harder than changing the battery in your TV remote. Once you have the back cover off you quickly see that there is a Micro-SD slot to expand the memory beyond the 32GB that comes built in. This is a great feature that you don’t see often enough and my first question was how large of a Micro-SD card can it handle. 64GB would be good and 128GB would be awesome. When I checked the specs I saw that it could handle a 2Tb (aka 2000GB) card! I thought that must be an error at first but sure enough it’s true. I’m not aware of any Micro-SD cards of that size existing at the moment but when the technology reaches that point it will find a home in my LG G4. That’s fine by me as I see myself using this as my primary phone for a long time.

The New Moto E: A Great Smartphone For Android Fans

May 8, 2015 by Beeb Leave a Comment

Moto E

Loaner unit provided for assessment.

Motorola recently unveiled the 2nd Generation Moto E, a followup to the first edition that was one of their best-selling smartphones last year. We received a unit to test out for a month, and since Jai is our household’s resident Android fan, I thought he’d have fun playing around with it. Here’s what he had to say about using the Moto E:

They battery life on the Moto E was the first thing that stood out for me. I’m not one to spend much time talking, but I did leave it on for 3 days at a time without it needing a charge. I like the minimalist design as it is thin while the large face is justified by the fact that it’s almost all screen. The touch screen has the feel of glass, unlike the plastic feel of my previous Android devices. I was also able to get good cell reception throughout the house, which is an issue when you live on the edge of civilization as we do. The camera is pretty average. It’s fast and works well as a nice convenience if you have a camera already but there’s no flash and I wouldn’t expect anyone to use it if you’re going for nice photos.

Not only do I like the Motorola Moto E smartphone, but it’s reminded me why I like the Android operating system so much. My first smartphone was an Android – it was the HTC Dream which happened to be the first commercially released Android device. I loved everything about it (apart from the battery life) and used it for a long time. In fact, I still use it to this day: Not as a phone, but for its extremely accurate GPS which helps me keep track of my running. Since about 2010 I have gone back and forth between iOS and Android, but leaning toward iOS for the most part. No other phone on either platform has had the same GPS precision as my HTC Dream until trying the Moto E. The Moto E is also sooo much faster with opening apps than I’m used to and getting a chance to use it has made me realize how important it is to have a fast, quality phone as an Android user. There is just such a variety of hardware out there for Android that it’s easy to get stuck with something sub-par.”

In all, we were both impressed with the Moto E, which can impress longtime Android fans like Jai while still being budget-friendly, starting at $119.99. You can click here to pick up a 2nd Generation Moto E by visiting Motorola.com.

Bleep Out The Bad Words musicBleeper $100 Giveaway

October 4, 2014 by Momstart 93 Comments

As a parent I like to let my kids listen to the music they like but there are so many songs that have bad words in them. Even on the radio sometimes I feel like they didn’t bleep out enough of the word to make the song ok for little ears to listen to. Then kids listen to who knows what on their personal devices right? How can we protect them? Apparently I’m not the only parent that feels that way, there’s an app for that!1

In 2013 an app was created to pioneer the field of personalized audio and video. musicBleeper, a free, one-of-a-kind app that allows users to determine and control which words they feel are unsafe or inappropriate on their iOS device playlists and it’s just been updated. The app is especially great for parents who want to listen to music with their children, have control of what their young children are listening to, or anyone who would prefer their music without profanity or objectionable phrases like me. 6

How musicBleeper Works:

• Once the app is downloaded to an iOS device and parameters are set, the app immediately starts scanning and scrubbing the songs that live on the device.7

• If a song title is shown in bold, it has already been scanned and scrubbed for offensive words. If the song title shows in grey scale, it means the song has not yet been scanned and scrubbed, but will be available soon.

• The words and phrases noted are removed from all songs on the device – users can select either “skip” or “silence.”

• The ability to manage the app is password protected, so parents can identify the words they want eliminated, without children having access to change them.

• The app can be turned on and off, so parents can turn the app off when children are not around. This feature is password protected as well.8

Get the APP:

Download it in the App store here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/music-bleeper/id777482134?mt=8

The Camera Is a Phone: Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom #ATTSeattle

February 26, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

You can purchase your own Samsung Galaxy at the AT&T Store

Last year when I played with the Samsung Galaxy Camera I wrote about how much I loved it while we were in Disneyland. I wrote Capture Life: Samsung Galaxy 3G WiFi Camera, Map, and Park Lines #ATTSeattle. My only wish then was that it was a cell phone as well, just because I have a tendency to drop things when I have to carry more than one device in my pockets. And then Samsung made the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

You should see the amazing app that comes with the camera. You can make yourself skinny with the app after you take a picture of yourself. IT IS SO AWESOME. This smartphone provides high quality images through its 16MP CMOS sensor, optical image stabilizer, and 10x optical zoom. It has intuitive camera features which emit best pictures through its 25 pre-set camera modes. The camera is equipped with Exynos 4212, 1.5 GHz Dual-core that guarantees an outstanding performance and it does.  This wonderful device provides users with trustworthy storage options as it has 16GB internal memory and a MicroSD card slot for extra memory spanning up to 64GB. Order the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom AT&T  Android 4.2.2 today!

IMG_0293

Some guys don’t like it because it doesn’t fit in their pockets. They say it’s too big. I say not. It’s got such a good camera on it and as a photographer who works in social media I love the idea of being able to upload my photos right away.

IMG_0294

The Galaxy S 4 zoom enjoys the same entertainment options as other members of the Galaxy family like WatchON™ and Samsung Hub. Store and share your full-resolution photos, videos, and documents in one convenient place. Upload your videos and photos straight from your phone. AT&T Locker includes 50GB of storage for free

IMG_0295

So I find all the camera options one of the best parts of the camera and of course you can download even more apps to have even more fun with the camera but here is the list of all the settings. I just had to share them all with you.

AT&T NEC Terrain Qwerty Not SO Much #ATTSeattle

October 24, 2013 by Momstart Leave a Comment

I thought there would never be a day that I would give up my keyboard for a touch screen. I’m not sure what finally convinved me, if it was my husband, or Windows or what but I finally switched to the touch screen. Doing this review of the NEC Terrain, I DO NOT WANT a keyboard back. image

This phone is for those that like a keyboard and need a phone that can be dropped in the snow, water, concrete you name it it will work. I mean, it’s the phone for me the accident prone to break any phone that enters my hand, but I really don’t like this phone. I don’t like the version of Android that it runs, there really nothing that I like about this phone. But to be fair I’m going to show you some of  the features:

Combat ready for a day at the beach

Engineered from the inside-out to perform in the harshest environments. Meets or exceeds MIL-STD-810G standards for ruggedness with scratch resistant Corning® Gorilla Glass 2 touchscreen. Bumps, spills, temperature extremes, dust, and grime are no match for this easy-to-use workhorse.

Go ahead. Leave the gloves on. With one press of the big, dedicated Enhanced PTT button, you can have a conversation with one person or speak to your entire crew. Great for on the ski slopes and just about anywhere. And with earSmart™ technology by Audience, voice clarity is amazing even in noisy conditions.

You can’t afford to miss important instructions about appointments, where to meet, delivery dates, and safety information. Terrain’s big, front-firing speakers ensure that you hear everything loud and clear the first time.

Underneath that rugged exterior is a sophisticated Android™-powered smartphone moving at 4G LTE speeds. Conduct business seamlessly in the field while internal data and programs stay secure via VPN and on-device and SD card encryption. Stay connected to your email, calendar, and contacts. You can even deploy apps and provide additional security with remote locking and wiping.

Love Traveling with The AT&T Galaxy Note 2 It’s the Phone that Lasts!

March 1, 2013 by Momstart Leave a Comment

My New favorite phone, oh wait, tablet, no it’s a phablet is the Galaxy Note 2. It’s too big for my husband but I LOVE it. It’s too small to be a tablet but if you add a keyboard then you can use it like a tablet and I love having everything in the palm of my hand. PLUS it’s phone. I’ve always wanted a device that can be my computer and my phone. It just makes sense to only carry one device. The camera is amazing, the video quality is amazing. The 8MP camera comes with advanced features that let you choose the best shots and share them quickly on your social networks. Tag, comment, and edit photos before posting to Facebook or store them safely in the cloud with AT&T Locker.  It runs on android and has all the apps I need and I can multi task by having two aps open at once. And I loved how everything is so integrated. I can be doing something and share it with just about any app and all at the same time. I LOVE this phone. It simplified my life on my last press trip and as you can see, I need to finally recharge. The battery seemed to last forever, I could go two and a half days of full usage without charging. Usually on a press trip, I’m out of battery by noon, but I was barely at half a battery left at the end of a full day of full on photos, tweeting, checking e-mail.

I know that I used this phone a lot and it met my needs and I didn’t even crack the surface of what all this phone is capable of. I let all my friends on the press trip look at the phone too. One of my friends said that she would give up her iPhone for the Galaxy Note 2. She was watching me use it and saw how amazing the camera was. Would you give up your phone for the AT&T Galaxy Note 2?

I borrowed this phone from my AT&T rep, I don’t want to give it back but alas I must.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with HTC Windows Phone 8X

February 3, 2013 by Momstart 4 Comments

HTC has created an amazing phone, my husband has one and I’ve played with it a lot. It’s the HTC Windows Phone 8X. I love the Windows 8 Phone software and the list of apps is growing larger and larger every day.

8X_3v_Blue

Sometime this week I’ll be getting my own Windows 8X Phone by HTC in red, my husband bought it for me yesterday on his way home from work. They were out of red at the store so it will come in the mail. I’m really looking forward to upgrading from my Windows 7 phone. I’ll be able to organize my tiles and change the size of them. I love how you can have three differently size tiles and that you can even group certain tiles together. I can create a group of friends and keep up with them. I mean, I think it’s cool that you can group  your friends together.

image

The Windows Phone 8X has an amazing front-facing camera with HTC ImageChip. ImageChip allows you to take perfect pictures in almost any conditions with minimized blurriness and sharp, true-to-life colors. Even in low light, the light-pulling f/2.0 aperture lens and backside sensor illumination helps make your pictures bright. You can take great photos easily with a dedicated button, which means your camera is one press away. The wide-angle front camera captures more in self- portraits and video chats. Another feature of the Windows Phone 8X is Beats Audio, which belts out studio-quality sound. Hear deep bass, crisp vocals and detailed high notes. There is also a built-in headset amp, which means more power and bigger sound with less distortion and noise. The built-in speaker amp boosts speaker performance for maximum loudness and bass. Beats Audio enhances all the audio on your phone including Xbox Music. We just started paying for a membership of Xbox Music. It’s a great program with a smart DJ playing music you like based on similar bands, artists or genres. We also love using the SmartGlass app for Xbox. You can control your Xbox 360 from your phone.

image

Post pictures to Facebook faster than ever. Go from shooting to sharing in seconds, with one-touch tagging and auto-uploading built in. And with the People Hub, you can bring all your social media together. Some phones make you jump between Facebook, Twitter, Outlook, and all your other apps to keep up. On the Windows Phone 8X you can see and respond to everyone’s updates, chats, calls, messages, even photo uploads, all in one place. Plus it’s built for peace of mind because every single app is tested for malware before you download it. It also works with Windows so you can access your documents and pictures from virtually anywhere with SkyDrive. Come meet your Windows Phone, and see why the phone you bring to life is as unique as you are.

Over 7 billion people in the world but just one perfect person for you. Give your special someone something as unique as they are – the Windows Phone 8X by HTC. With bold, eye-popping colors and live tiles customized to their wants and needs, the Windows Phone 8X by HTC delivers the most personalized mobile experience on any smartphone.  Pick one up today at any T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless or AT&T store for just $199. HTC has a number of devices perfect for your significant other this Valentine’s Day other than the Windows Phone 8X by HTC.  There is the Droid DNA by HTC, the HTC One SV, and the new HTC One X+. I’ve used a phone or two in the HTC One line and I really like that phone too.

I received this information from HTC, we are purchasing our own phone because I love it so much, my opinions are my own and I’m a Windows Champion disclosing all my connections.
