Pet Owners, These are 6 Tips to Clean your House Efficiently!

November 12, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

Pet owners are you tired of the hair, dander, and toys everywhere? You probably are and you might be looking at six ways you can clean your home quickly and with a minimum of effort. The following six tips will help you keep your home cleaner with a less fuss on your part.

Bright kitchen with dining area and living room

Training your Pet

You know dogs can be trained, but did you know cats can be trained too? Your cat can learn quite a bit. They may be stubborn about it, but they can learn just as much as dogs. Cats have the ability to learn names, to learn to stay off certain surfaces, and even to eat in an appropriate location. For example if you own more than one cat each cat can have their own area of the kitchen or other room to eat. They will even go there, sit down, and wait with enough routine and training. The start to cleaning efficiently is to train your pets to help you.

You might train your pets to pick up their toys and put them away. You may train them to clean up their food area or keep off the furniture. Have you had a cat that drops food everywhere and another who comes up and cleans behind them? It’s fun to watch and just one way to keep things clean.

Now your Turn

You have given rules to your pet, so now you need to follow a few yourself.

· Have a bin for your pets toys

· Have a room or area of a room for all pet related items

· Groom your pet daily

You have a start on cleaning sufficiently. The next step is to get a vacuum that is rated for pets. A vacuum that cleans the carpet deeper ensures the pet dander and hair is always removed. It is the most efficient tool in your arsenal.

By training your pets to keep off other things like cats off counters and dogs off the furniture you can run your vacuum with ease and use soap on the counters without issue.

Here are some main products to have on hand:

· Disinfectant wipes for counters

· Swifer like mop where you do not change out the dirty water, but a dirty pad for a cleaner floor.

· Vacuum that removes dirt appropriately with all the accessories for furniture, windows, and curtains.

Now you know what you need on hand. It is time to build a routine for cleaning.

· Run the vacuum once a day

· Use a broom on all other floor surfaces each day, particularly with cats to reduce litter tracking

· Groom your pet to keep dander and fur down, ensuring you always pick up clumps with the vacuum each day

· Reduce the items you have in your home and laying around so you can wipe surfaces with ease instead of moving everything first

· Use dusters for the higher places first then clean the lower areas

· Give your pet a bath before they come in doors to alleviate the collection of dirt that comes in.

By keeping things clean in the first place, training your pet, and sticking to a routine you can make cleaning more efficient. Also having the proper products to clean with makes it easier and quicker.

Dogs Like Halloween Treats Too! #PurinaHalloweenWM #ad

October 16, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

This post is sponsored by Lunchbox. All opinions are my own.

As a pet owner what wouldn’t you do for your dog. I love having a dog. They are so loyal and loving and just plain adorable and make your heart melt. They just make life an adventure as they are all so full of personality.

Do you ever celebrate Halloween with your dogs? We did. We’ve dressed our pups and we like to get them Halloween sweaters too. It gets cold up here and my black lab was always cold. One year my husband dressed up our puppy like a construction worker and he got himself a matching costume.  My sister dresses her pups up too. And she lets her dog hand out treats to the trick or treaters that come to her house.  Did you know that Walmart is a great place to get puppy costumes and Halloween Dog Treats. They have that everyday low price and a very large selection of dog costumes, dog sweaters and Purina dog treats.

If you want to celebrate Halloween with your dog then be sure to celebrate this year with Beggin’ – The Official Dog Treat of Halloween™! Our dogs love Beggin’ – The Official Dog Treat of Halloween™!  Want some free dog treats?

Head to the Purina Pet Park, it’s a portal on Walmart.com where you can play the Treat Seeker game for a chance to win one of 25,000 treat samples for your pet! The website is even more fun on a mobile phone so be sure to check it out with your cell phone and see the tilt capabilities, it’s pretty cool.

Don’t forget your pup this year while you are out trick or treating or handing out candy. They like to have special treats to, so head on over to Walmart and pick some up. While your there get to know the full array of Beggin’ and Purina Pet Treats! They’re the perfect way to “treat” your dog or cat this Halloween season.

Tis The Season to Be Frankenweenie: A Tim Burton Movie Review

October 2, 2012 by Momstart 10 Comments

Are you ready for Halloween?

Are you ready for a little spooky fun?

Are you into Tim Burton?

Have you ever had a pet or wanted a pet?

Maybe you just love dogs?

If you answered yes to any of those questions then I have a movie that will have you entranced from the very beginning until the last credit leaves the screen.

FRANKENWEENIE

FRANKENWEENIE

Mr. and Mrs. Frankenstein have a son named Victor and he has a dog named Sparky. Sparky and Victor are best friends as every dog and little boy should be. The create home movies in 3D and just do everything together. Victor wanted to do the Science Fair and his father wanted him to do sports. So he ended up having to do both. One day while playing baseball he actually hit the ball out of the field and well Sparky decided to catch it. Tragically he died.

So you know this going into the movie, nothing scary or gory this part is safe for kids to watch. You don’t watch him get hit by a car you just know it happened. It’s sad as you just fall in love with Sparky right away, but this is a Frankenstein movie you know, the dog comes back to life because Victor pays attention in science class. Once all the kids catch wind of what he did they replicate the science experiment. Then all chaos breaks loose. HA! It’s funny, spooky and a little creepy and all in good fun. The black and white adds to the spooky nature and enjoyment.

Be prepared to be amazed at how this is still a stop motion film in 3D. The special effects made me jump out of my seat twice, not really because I was scare but more because I was surprised. There were unexpected turns and twists and even the ending caught me by surprise. Frankenweenie is pretty cool and one of my favorite Tim Burton stop animation movies to date. Enjoy Frankenweenie on Friday October 5th.

Thanks to Disney for travel and accommodations to the premiere.

I have a fun story about my cat that was able to turn the light on every night while I thought I was going crazy, I also have a story about my first cat. I loved my first cat so much that when my cat was hit by a car, my grandmother paid for my cat to have surgery and she later told me as an adult how very expensive it was. It would have been cheaper to have put my cat down but she couldn’t bare to see my face. I loved that cat. She was a beautiful cat that I played with all the time and she endured all of my graceless attempts at playing with her and carrying her around.

What’s your first cat story? Do you have one to share. From now until July 31, you can participate in the Purina Cat Chow Real Stories Project Contest by submitting your cat relationship story at www.yourcatstory.com.

Five cat stories will be selected as the grand prize winners of the Purina Cat Chow Real Stories Project and will each receive a $5,000 cash prize, a one year supply of Purina® Cat Chow® brand cat food for one cat, and have their cat relationship story told through a Purina Cat Chow brand logoonline video. Following the story submission close on July 31, Purina Cat Chow will narrow the stories down to 10 finalists. You gusy will be asked to vote on your favorite stories from Aug. 28 – Sept. 18, 2012, at www.yourcatstory.com to help identify the winning stories. The winners will be announced on or about October 1, 2012.

Purina Cat Chow is committed to telling and highlighting the real stories of everyday cat owners. The Neater Feeder AMAZING Pet Bowl – Lucy’s New Doggie Dinette

May 19, 2012 by Momstart 17 Comments

By: Ashley

I’ve always had dogs… but it wasn’t until this week that I found an AMAZING pet bowl. – The Neater Feeder.

clip_image002After growing up with dogs as pets, getting a dog with my husband years ago, and always having friends and family with dogs, one thing seems to be the same – dogs are messy eaters and drinkers. I remember my mom used to keep a towel under our dogs water bowls to soak up the splashing that inevitably seemed to happen every time they took a drink. With our own dog, we resorted to the placemat under the dishes… but still… it was gross. The smart design of the Neater Feeder has fixed all of those problems and more.

clip_image004clip_image006

The first great thing about the Neater Feeder is the adjustable height. Larger dogs are supposed to have elevated food bowls, but that’s really tough. The Neater Feeder has various leg extenders and rubber stoppers on the bottom to prevent the bowls from sliding and sloshing around.

I also LOVE how the water bowl is deeper that the food bowl. That’s exactly what every dog needs… and the people at Neater Feeder finally got it right. You might now be thinking about the yucky factors that could come up from having food right next to water… but another act of design genius took care of that. The Neater Feeder has a two layer tray that lets any water that spills go down to the bottom level while sifting out any food that may get dropped. This keeps the mess off of your floors AND makes it easier to clean up.

I can honestly say that anyone who has pets… ESPECIALLY indoor pets, would find a lot of joy in owning the Neater Feeder. It makes the mealtime for our four-legged friends a little more enjoyable for everyone! You can even have a chance to win one for your favorite pet. Follow the directions in the Rafflecopter below! Good luck!
