Bring In Christmas with Macy’s in Seattle! Holiday Parade, Star Lighting, Fireworks and Santa!

November 17, 2012 by Momstart 10 Comments

In celebration of the 2012 holiday season, Macy’s is proud to announce that its annual My Macy’s Holiday Parade will take place on Friday, November 23, 2012 in downtown Seattle. The parade steps off promptly at 9 a.m. and lasts approximately one hour. The Holiday Parade route will begin at 7th and Pine, then travel west down Pine St. to 5th Avenue, south on 5th Avenue to University Street, west on University to 4th, and then north on 4th to Macy’s doorstep.

The Seattle Times and Warm 106.9 FM radio are the media partners for the Parade this year. Macy’s signature inflatable floats will make their annual appearance in this Seattle tradition. This year’s Parade will include two new helium star balloons which will escort Santa’s sleigh. The parade will feature 25 inflatable floats, local middle and high school marching bands, over 600 costumed characters, professional sports teams and community drill teams.

The parade will conclude shortly after Santa dashes in his sleigh past Macy’s, heading directly from the North Pole to his Seattle holiday post in Macy’s Santaland on the 6th floor, which opens at 11:00 AM.  Santaland is open from November 23 through December 24.

MACY’S STAR LIGHTING & FIREWORKS SHOW

That same evening, Macy’s will continue the tradition of the Holiday Star Lighting Ceremony in conjunction with the annual Seattle Westlake Center tree lighting. The famous 161-foot high, 3,600-bulb Holiday Star is a Seattle favorite. This event begins at 5 p.m. and will include an incredible fireworks display (weather permitting).

The tradition of visiting Santaland and having family portraits taken with the Old St. Nick continues at the downtown Macy’s store on the 6th floor.  Macy’s will once again offer a wide assortment of digital photography packages. Santa photos will be available every day from Friday, November 23 through Monday, December 24. For more information visit www.macys.com/holidayevents for Santaland daily hours.

Enter to Win The Chance to BE IN the Macy’s Seattle Holiday Parade #MacysParadeSEA

October 9, 2012 by Momstart 7 Comments

Last Year we had the opportunity to play with costumes from the Macy’s Seattle Holiday Parade and my children loved it. I know if they were older they would love to be in the parade. Actually, I know that they can walk 3 miles, and that they would love to be in the parade but they would want to watch it too.

Dole Living Well in Paradise Rose Bowl Parade Sweepstakes And Giveaway

November 15, 2010 by Momstart 67 Comments

colorful roses

I adore roses. At my old house I had about 8 rose bushes growing in my front yard and now that I’m in a new house I haven’t replaced any of my roses yet. This year would have been the perfect time to do it too because we had such a beautiful Summer. Oh well, there is always next year and speaking of next year, that makes me think of the Rose Bowl Parade. I love watching how all of these brands and companies arrange the flowers to create those beautiful floats that go down the street. It’s the only reason to get up on January first after all of that partying right? Ok, for me, that’s not true, I love starting off fresh and that’s what January first feels like to me. It’s also a reminder that my daughter’s birthday is just around the corner and I have to start planning for that too. Wow, I get off topic easily. Anyways, DOLE is proud to be the first major brand in the industry to pack its Fruit Bowls and multi-serve Jarred Fruit in 100% fruit juice… with no syrup, refined sugars or artificial sweeteners! To celebrate, DOLE will be participating in the 2011 Rose Parade with a beautiful, "Living Well in Paradise" float, along with a once in a lifetime opportunity for ONE DOLE FAN (+ GUEST) TO ATTEND THE ROSE PARADE! I love Roses!!!

What’s better than watching it on TV? Actually being there. I think we should let Dole know that what would be even better, would be to get to ride on the float. Or at least I think that would make it even more fun!!

One lucky Dole fan, plus one guest, will win a four day and three night trip to Los Angeles from December 30, 2010 to January 2, 2011 to attend the 2011 Rose Parade with premium VIP seats in the grandstands during the parade. Well, I suppose VIP seating is good enough. Plus you get all the extra days in LA, you could plan a trip to Disneyland with all of that extra time! It’s easy to enter, simply “Like” DOLE on Facebook and fill out the sweepstakes entry form at www.Facebook.com/DOLE. The sweepstakes will also randomly award 100 DOLE Rose Parade Limited Edition Commemorative Pins each week between Nov. 4, 2010 to Dec. 23, 2010.
