February 2, 2015 by Beeb 1 Comment

Valentine's Day Pancakes

Samples provided.

Valentine’s Day is coming right up, so why not woo your sweetie with a meal straight from the heart? These cute pancakes are the perfect thing to serve up for a breakfast in bed – and, since February is also National Hot Breakfast Month, you can also declare it “Breakfast Night” and have hotcakes for dinner! Here’s how to create pancakes with love:

Valentine’s Day Pancakes

Heart-shaped pancake

Equipment needed:

Pancake art squeeze bottle
Nonstick frying pan
Spatula
2 large bowls
Whisk
Measuring spoons & cups

Ingredients:

1 C Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix
1 1/4 C Krusteaz Honey Wheat Pancake Mix
1 TBSP juice from a jar of Maraschino Cherries
Red food coloring
Water
Cooking spray

Directions:

In a bowl, combine Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix with 2/3 C water, Maraschino Cherry juice and 5 drops of red food coloring. Whisk until smooth, and pour into a pancake art squeeze bottle.

In a separate bowl, mix 3/4 C water and Krusteaz Honey Wheat Pancake Mix with a whisk until combined and slightly lumpy.

Spritz cooking spray in a pan and heat to medium low. Using your pancake art bottle, draw and fill in a heart in the pan, then cover using the Honey Wheat pancake batter. Leave for 60 seconds, flip, and then cook until the pancake looks done.

The Johnsonville No Ordinary Burger: The Berry Yummy Burger Recipe

June 2, 2012 by Momstart 31 Comments

I had to do something extra special for the No Ordinary Burger Contest. I’ve been thinking about my recipe for a while and I finally just asked my husband and this was his idea:

Does that look good or what?

The Berry Yummy Burger Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 lb. package of Johnsonville Original Bratwurst Patties
8 bun size pancakes or 16 mini pancakes
8 oz. Cream Cheese
1 lb. frozen fruit (or fresh fruit if you have some on hand)

Directions:

I made mini fruit sliders by cutting each patty in half and then reforming it to a mini burger. Feel free to create full size patties.

Grill the patties on the grill
Whip up some pancakes or use some frozen ones
Warm up the fruit
Use the cream cheese as the condiment on the pancakes
Place the sausage on the cream cheese
Layer with some of the fruit
And top with another pancake

Chocolate Chip Pancakes Recipe

October 9, 2011 by Momstart 19 Comments

When I got home from all my travels cooking dinner for the kids was the last thing I wanted to do. I was tired and just ready to jump on the couch to cuddle all night with the kids. So my adorable husband that he is treated me and the kids to pancakes, not just any pancakes but our special chocolate chip pancakes. YUM!

Chocolate Chip Pancakes Recipe:

Now we’re a family of convenience, so we LOVE to use the Krusteaz pancake mix and often follow the directions on the back of the bag. What we like to do is add about a 1/4 cup of chocolate chips to the mix and then make the pancakes on the griddle. But, I’ve seen many of you protest when I publish an ALL MIX recipe so here are some instructions on how to make an excellent chocolate chip pancake.

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup chocolate milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.

In another bowl, beat the egg, milk, oil, vanilla and chocolate chips. Add to dry ingredients and mix well.

Next, pour the batter by 1/4 cupfuls onto a lightly greased hot griddle (stir the batter before pouring each batch). Turn when bubbles form on top of pancakes.

Cook until the second side is brown.

Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes Recipe

September 9, 2011 by Momstart 29 Comments

My husband can cook and I love it when he cooks. He makes terrific desserts and breakfast meals. So we like to have breakfast for dinner often. At least I do because it means he’s cooking. Pancakes and Waffles have always been a favorite of mine and this recipe he made, the Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes are outstanding.
