September 4, 2009 by Momstart 288 Comments

iCarly_S2V1_DVD_3DSo I’m still not one to watch Carly, Sam and Freddie. I received a copy to review and I just found it because I waas finally able to get into my mail box. Can you believe I have not had mail for over a month. It’s crazy. Anyways, iCarly and her gang, which is my understanding the team that makes iCarly, keep the camera and the laughs rolling in an all new season of Nickelodeon’s hit show-within-a-show — iCarly: Season 2, Vol. 1 on DVD.

iCarly is starring tween sensation Miranda Cosgrove. The latest installment of the groundbreaking series finds Carly and Sam vying for the same guy, iCarly’s first web award nomination and the kiss that shocked the world – all while crankin’ out the best web show out there on iCarly.com!

Created by Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment, iCarly Season 2, Volume 1 is now available for the suggested retail price of $26.99.

iCarly: Season 2, Vol. 1 features 12 new-to-DVD episodes, along with the making of the first iCarly TV movie “iGo To Japan” and behind-the-scenes extras. The set also includes an exclusive CD single featuring a song from Miranda Cosgrove’s new album hitting stores later this year.

Olivia DVD Review

August 25, 2009 by Momstart 2 Comments

Olivia_3DOlivia is a dreamer, a doer and hard to keep up with. I was offered the opportunity to review Olivia with my children and being familiar with her books I was happy to receive a copy of the DVD. In Olivia’s self-titled DVD debut, my daughter was captivated by Olivia’s vivid imagination but it had nothing to offer my son. This DVD has a never seen before episode and three new-to-DVD episodes, along with an exclusive Olivia Photo Gallery introducing Olivia and all her friends.

OLIVIA is available for the suggested retail price of $16.99.

Olivia: Olivia

Olivia Fast Facts

  • Street Date: August 11, 2009
  • DVD SRP: $16.99
  • DVD Running Time: Approximately 100 Minutes
  • DVD Bonus Features Include: Olivia Photo Gallery

Synopses

Olivia Acts Out

It’s time for the annual school play, but Olivia’s stuck playing the part of “Cow #2,” while Francine lands the starring role. It’s up to Olivia to make the most of her small part. With a little help from Julian, she choreographs a climactic “mooove” for herself and has the crowd on their feet.

Olivia Plays Piano

Olivia sees herself as a great concert pianist, though her piano teacher thinks she needs a little more practice. But when her little brother Ian begins taking his own piano lessons – and turns out to be pretty good – Olivia isn’t sure if there’s room for two prodigies in the family.

Olivia Trains Her Cat

When Olivia’s class holds a pet talent show, nobody can beat Francine’s amazingly talented cat Gwendolyn. Olivia’s lethargic cat Edwin, who barely moves, suddenly goes missing. Olivia then fancies herself a cat detective as she tracks down the missing cat.

Olivia Packs Up

Tired of having to share with her brother Ian, Olivia sets out on a trip around the block in search of a place free from little brothers. She imagines herself crossing a vast desert by camel – which isn’t all it’s cracked up to be – and eventually decides that having a little brother might not be so bad after all.

Our Opinion:

She was very excited to watch it the first time but she hasn’t been interested in watching it again. She’s been into Aristocats right now. I’m not really sure why. You can’t ever tell why a child picks something over the other. Perhaps she likes watching cats more than pigs.

I personally like Olivia. I think she’s a bit of a trouble maker but she seems to love to use her imagination. We’re going to take it home and add it to our collection and see if she wants to watch it more. I’m probably going to push it on her because I like it so much. Esp over some of the other options.

About Olivia:

The first OLIVIA picture book by Falconer was published in 2000 to rave reviews. Since that time, Falconer has been the recipient of numerous awards and the Simon & Shuster book series has sold an impressive six million copies worldwide in 20 languages.

iCarly Season 1 Volume 2 Giveaway

April 20, 2009 by MomStart 154 Comments

iCarly_S1V2_DVD_3D

Nickelodeon is widely known for it’s children’s programs. They have been cranking out content for 30 years now and for the past 14 of them they have been rated the number one basic cable network. Nickelodeon and all related titles, are trademarks of Viacom Inc.

If you are not already an iCarly fan let me tell you about her and her gang.

iCarly and her pals Sam and Freddie are back in this 12 episode DVD release. Miranda Cosgrove is Carly and she is the host of an incredibly popular teen web show. This two disc pack is about the threesome as they deal with school growing up and putting out the best web show. This is a pre-release copy that I’m giving away, but the giveaway won’t be over until after the release date of the 21st. ;-).

How the show began

Here’s how it all began…
Story Told by Freddie

Okay, here’s how it went down. Sam took Miss Briggs’ head and PhotoDocked it onto a rhinoceros body. Then Sam put up copies of the pic all over school! When Miss Briggs saw one, she FREAKED. Carly knew that if Briggs found out Sam did it, Sam would probably get kicked out of school (cuz Sam’s already been in LOTS of trouble this semester). And since Carly is such a cool friend, she took the blame for Sam.

So, Carly got in trouble and had to give up her whole Saturday. Briggs made her come to school and be in charge of the kids’ auditions for the school talent show (which was mostly BORING).

Since the whole thing was Sam’s fault, Carly made Sam help her with the auditions — so they both had to give up their whole Saturday. I was there too, cuz Carly needed someone to film all the auditions (yeah, they needed me).

Most of the kids’ auditions were lame. The best stuff was when Carly and Sam were joking around in between the auditions. I thought they were being really funny, so I shot video of them goofing around (they didn’t know I was filming them).? Carly and Sam were just being soooo funny together, especially when they were making fun of Miss Briggs’ pointy boobs!

Everything was cool until later that night. Sam spent the night at Carly’s
(which she always does)…and at around midnight, they went online to see
if I had uploaded the auditions for Miss Briggs. Carly and Sam FREAKED when they saw that I ACCIDENTALLY uploaded video of THEM goofing around, and even making fun of Miss Briggs. They were soooo mad at me.

The good news was, tons of people commented the video of Carly and Sam, and the comments were GREAT. Thousands of people online LOVED Carly and Sam. They all wanted to see more of them. So…

We decided to give ’em MORE! We decided to start our own web show. Carly and Sam do their thing in front of the camera, and I work the camera and handle all the tech stuff.

That’s how iCarly got started, and now it’s, like, really popular!

—Freddie B.

PS: Thanks for watching us!

This season begins with a stalker, Sam gets a boyfriend and a possible show endorsement. The teens work through everything together and end up helping a lovesick teacher and saving TV.

The discs also include special features. You can go behind the slime with the cast and behind the scenes. There is also a special bonus of the pilot episode of True Jackson VP.
