Juicy Juice Fruitifuls Challenge After School Refreshment Pack #Giveaway

December 11, 2012 by Momstart 309 Comments

My kids and I are excited to be working with Nestle Juicy Juice because they have launched a new product that they love and I love too. They love it because yeah, they get to drink juice. I love it because it has even less sugar than before.

Juicy Juice Fruitifuls Product Information:

  • 35% less sugar than regular fruit juices
  • Juicy Juice Fruit Promise: Every box of Juicy Juice Fruitifuls provides one serving (1/2 cup) from the Fruit Group (source: USDA)
  • All-natural ingredients: No added sugar, sweeteners, preservatives or artificial flavors
  • Hydrating: A naturally refreshing blend of fruit juice and fresh water to help hydrate active kids
  • Great for the lunchbox: Comes in convenient, ready-to-go packaging
  • Four fun new refreshing flavors: Apple Quench, Punch Splash, Berry Cherry Burst and Orange Strawbana Blast

“Did you know that the average 4 – 8 year old eats 21 teaspoons of sugar per day? That’s like eating 6 1/2 lunch boxes of sugar every year !” clip_image002

Juicy Juice Fruitifuls is an all-natural juice beverage that has 35 percent less sugar than regular juice, yet still delivers refreshing, full taste and a full serving of fruit (1/2 cup) in every juice box. It’s a delicious, easy way for parents to ensure kids get at least one of their daily recommended servings of fruit and a great, refreshing drink after the play-dates or after-school sports and activities kids love.

IMG_2217

You can even use it to make popsicles and Juicy Juice is providing the best after school pack to do just that. They gave me a kit that includes crayons, chalk, a popsicle kit and of course their new juice. The juice came just in time while I still had the flu and I was out of juice in my house. I cracked right into a package and loves that it wasn’t as sweet in taste as some juices are.

Here’s a photo of many of the items included in the pack:clip_image001

I would show you fun photos of us using some of the items but these are actually going to make really great Christmas presents. Zoe loves to play soccer and well, I ran over her soccer ball with the van last year so I think the purple kick ball is going to make a fantastic replacement. Plus it will encourage lots of outdoor play. Outdoor play and running are so important for kids and Juicy Juice is 100% behind healthy active children.

Juicy Juice Fruit for All Project Give 400 Meals To Charity

June 13, 2012 by Momstart 196 Comments

We have kids in our community that go without breakfast during the summer time because during the school year they get free breakfast at school. In the summer time they don’t eat unless we keep our food pantry stocked with cereal or other items for their parents to pick up for them to eat. Of course this isn’t the only community that needs help, or the only need. JJ FFA map

You can watch this Fruit for All Project Documentary Video which follows the lives of three children impacted by Feeding America’s produce program. It makes me really sad to know that children in the world or just within the US are going hungry. The reality of it is that over 16 million American children are food insecure which means they are at risk of going hungry, and just like in my community when they are out of school the risk goes up. 18.7 million children were without the assistance of reduced price or free meals last summer.

We have enough food for everyone, we just need to help those that need the help. Juicy Juice is part of a program helping children get fed this summer. They are calling it the Fruit for all project. Together with Feeding America and celebrity mom Samantha Harris they vow to get 35 million pieces of fruit in the hands of children and families in need.

How can you get involved?

Between June 1 and August 31, enjoy Juicy Juice! Each time Juicy Juice is purchased, they will provide a piece of fruit to hungry kids and their families. In addition, kids and their parents can log on to Facebook (Facebook.com/JuicyJuiceUSA and complete fun and engaging challenges to earn even more fruit donations.

Find more information on Twitter (@JuicyJuiceUSA) and Facebook (Facebook.com/JuicyJuiceUSA) .

This giveaway has ended. Congratulations to the winner, SaraLee B.

I’m involved with Nestlé and Fruit for All Project. They are providing my local food bank with meals as well.

JACK’S® PIZZA

December 3, 2011 by Momstart 68 Comments

I received a Pizza Kit from a brand I’ve never heard of before. I love all pizza, it really should be a food group. Anyhow, I wanted to share this pizza brand with you guys! Jack’s Pizza!

image

JACK’S Pizza was created in 1960 by a man named Jack who was in search of the perfect pizza in Little Chute, Wis. He delivered JACK’S Pizzas to his neighbors and residents of the small town, and as word spread, JACK’S Pizza became a favorite throughout the Midwest. Today, JACK’S Pizza is still made with 100 percent real Wisconsin cheese and the perfect combination of meats and sauce on a thin, crispy crust. A consumer once referred to JACK’S Pizza as “amazing, affordable circles of bliss.”

Now, pizza lovers can find JACK’S Pizza from coast-to-coast at a supercenter near you.

Have a Family Movie Night Cars 2 and Juicy Juice

November 16, 2011 by Momstart 413 Comments

It’s always a good time to have a family movie night and I’m ready to pop open Cars 2. Our kids have already seen the movie, they went to the theater with their dad and watched it and I can’t wait to see it again. I love the soundtrack and listen to it all the time.

Nestlé’s Juicy Juice is teaming up with Cars 2 to help all of us have a fantastic movie night, including you! Juicy Juice has set up Spy School and your kids should try it out. You might even like to try it out. There is a name game, what’s your spy name? I just filled out the information and my assigned spy name is Lacey Lee. Boost Kids Essentials Chocolate Caramel Banana Cooler Recipe

October 3, 2011 by Momstart 42 Comments

My kids love flavored milk and I really dislike giving them extra sugar at any time. But we still have flavored milk a few times a week, sometimes more often than that. So whenever I have the opportunity to give them flavored milk with less sugar I’m all about that. I’ve used Boost Kids Essentials in the past as a snack for the kids and we’ve been quite happy with the results. So when I had the opportunity to work with them here on MomStart, I was quite happy to accept and even get creative so I wanted to share this fun recipe with you, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it immensely.

Chocolate Caramel Banana Cooler Recipe

Ingredients:

1 container (8.25 fl. oz.) BOOST® Kid Essentials Drink (chocolate)
1 banana
1 Tbsp. caramel syrup

Directions:

Place all of the ingredients in a blender and mix blend.

$3 Boost Kids Essentials CouponI love that each serving of BOOST Kid Essentials Drink provides 240 calories, 24 essential vitamins and minerals, and 7 grams of protein. Talk to your pediatrician about healthy eating and meal replacements.

When it comes to getting my kids to eat healthy I’ve found that I have to be a good example. My husband and I like different things, he’s the fruit eater and I’m the veggie lover. So between the both of us the kids see us eating a variety of items. However, I still feel that I have to make sure I’m eating everything that’s good for us so they will too. It’s a challenge but I find that it really is important. And it’s normal for picky eaters to be cautious about trusting an unfamiliar food. So, rather than simply insisting that a picky eater eat a food he or she hasn’t tried before, try these approaches to introducing nutritious new foods as suggested by ChooseMyPlate.gov and helpguide.org:

I received samples on behalf of Nestle to facilitate this review and try out this recipe.

It’s not so easy for everyone. RIF is the oldest and largest children’s and family nonprofit literacy organization in the United States. Nestle Raisinets for National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day

March 27, 2011 by Momstart 282 Comments

Oh wow, I can’t believe I missed it. March 24th was National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day. My excuse is that for the last week an a half my life has been turned upside down by illness and what not, but I’m back on track and it look like other than a small cold Zoe seems to have we might be back on track to having a healthy family. So we’re going to be celebrating National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day a few days late. Print

I’d love to celebrate it with you guys!

MilkRais1_58oz.aiNestle Raisinets contacted me, well their PR company contacted me on their behalf and asked me to share some fun facts about Raisinets with you and I get to giveaway a few boxes. Raisinets bring back fond memories of my childhood and falling in love with chocolate. My babysitter had a bowl of raisinets in the refrigerator and I used to get a few when my parents were late picking me up, and when I was really little it seemed to happen a lot. So, I was on lucky girl getting to snack on chocolate covered raisins. It’s funny because writing this just reminded me that I actually have a bag of Raisinets in the fridge right now. Yumm!

• All Nestlé Raisinets are produced in Burlington, Wisconsin.  They are made with select California raisins and a unique blend of Nestlé Chocolate.

• Raisinets were first introduced in 1927 by the Blumenthal Chocolate Company. Back then, it took two-and-a-half hours to produce one batch of Raisinets!  Now it takes between 45 and 60 minutes.

DkRais1_58oz.ai• Today, we produce more than 1 million Raisinets per hour!  Slightly less than 30 million individual Raisinets each day!

• In 2010 we produced nearly 20 million pounds of Milk and Dark Chocolate Raisinets, which is equal to approximately 8 billion individual Raisinets. If you lined them up end-to-end, they’d stretch all the way around the earth about three-and-a-half times!

• Last year we used almost seven million pounds of raisins and more than 10 million pounds of Nestlé Chocolate to produce both Milk and Dark Chocolate Raisinets.

• Raisinets are the first chocolate covered raisin candy to have a cartoon series featured on its own YouTube channel! – www.youtube.com/raisinets

Tasty Treat Thursday Irish Chocolate Mint Custard Recipe

March 17, 2011 by Momstart 9 Comments

Tasty Treat Thursday: Irish Chocolate Mint Custard By Summer

This is a recipe I picked up from Paula Deen’s show when I was watching her and her son Bobby on The Food Network while working out on my elliptical … granted it wasn’t “Irish whipped cream” or a custard with mint, but that base recipe gave me the idea for this one. (I know masochistic right? Watching The Food Network while working out; well, I work out to be able to eat for pleasure.)

Irish Chocolate Mint Custard

So this is my promised adult St. Patrick’s Day recipe from last week’s post. The recipe is super easy, you just need to be willing to take the time to properly make it.

clip_image004INGREDIENTS for Chocolate Mint Custard
1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup Nestle Toll House Dark Chocolate & Mint Morsels
4 egg yolks
3 tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 300oF. Also set a kettle of water to boil.

2. In a saucepan scold milk and cream, but don’t boil.

3. In a double boiler (or in the microwave) melt morsels. Stir until chocolate is smooth. Remove from heat if on a double boiler. Slowly stir in milk mixture.

4. In a large mixing bowl combine yolks, sugar, and salt. Blend well. Temper eggs by very slowly mixing in the milk chocolate mixture. Stir constantly and until combined.

5. Pour even amount of mixture into 4-6 ramekins depending upon size.

6. Place ramekins into a cake pan. Carefully create a water bath by pour water into the cake pan but not into any of the custard cups.

clip_image0067. Place cake pan in preheated oven for 35 minutes or until custard is not outwardly runny and is gelatin-like to the touch.

8. Cool custards at room temperature for 40 minutes. Then continue to cool custards in the refrigerator for a minimum of 3 hours. Keep refrigerated until serving.

INGREDIENTS for Irish Whipped Cream
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons sugar
5 tablespoons Bailey’s Irish Cream

DIRECTIONS

1. Combine ingredients and beat until stiff. Peaks will begin to form. Keep refrigerated!

TIPS

clip_image008– The Nestle Toll House Dark Chocolate & Mint Morsels are a limited time product for the winter season. If you can no longer find them in a store near you, take the same amount of morsels in dark chocolate with 1 teaspoon mint extract (or flavoring as desired). You can also try making this recipe with your favorite flavor of chocolate chips.

– I needed more ramekins in order to have enough custard dishes. So I ran to Cost Plus World Market and got a pack of 4 green ramekins for only $2.99! GREAT DEAL! They also offer the sets in yellow, blue, orange, and red; green was just too perfect with St. Patrick’s Day!

As a proud partner of RIF, the NESTLÉ Family is sending us $50 worth of books to donate to a RIF school of our choice. It’s the NESTLÉ Family Happy New School Year giveaway in partnership with Reading is Fundamental. They will be sending me a list of RIF schools in my area and then my family and I can take them to a school in our neighborhood. You all should know how much I love to help out my community. Nestle Through this partnership, NESTLÉ has distributed millions of books to elementary school children across the country that are associated with the NESTLÉ Adopt-A-School program.
