One of the most obvious futures is to become a medical assistant. This job has a great outlook. In fact, by 2020, the field is supposed to increase by at least 31%. That means that there are going to be a lot of jobs for people looking to go into this field. With a Miami Medical Assistant degree, you can easily get into this field. In fact, with a medical assistant degree or certification in Miami, you get a leg up in the field that others may not have.
Advance Your Education to Nursing
If you start with a degree in medical assisting, you may want to further your education and become a nurse. There are many students who start their undergraduate program with a degree in medical assisting, and use this education to get a job while continuing their education. This is a great way to start in the medical field, while continuing up the ladder to becoming a nurse.
Medical and Health Services Manager
Another option when you have this degree is to go into management. This may require some additional schooling as well, depending on the facility you are trying to get a position with. A medical and health services manager coordinates and supervises the day to day workings of the facility, as well as plans and directs the people within the facility. This is a very demanding job, and requires great management skills.
Specialize as a Medical Secretary
Some who get a degree in medical assisting decide to specialize as a medical secretary. Though the two careers are similar, there are differences. Medical secretaries will get on-the-job training that will be specialized to the doctor or office that they are working with. Secretaries will have more office duties than a medical assistant, and fewer of the medical duties. However, with the medical assistant degree, you can help out if there are problems, and understand what else is going on in the office.
Physician Assistants Have to Start Somewhere
If you are considering becoming a physician assistant, it’s important to start somewhere in the medical field. A great place to begin is as a medical assistant. This is helpful because it gives you an insight to many different facets of the medical office. From billing to getting basic vital signs, this degree helps you understand the beginning steps of the medical field. As with those going into nursing, it also gives you a great option for jobs while you continue your education. This can help you expand your resume before you are out of school.
