Let me tell you what my equipment is. I’m using the Canon Rebel ti4 with the 50 mm lens. Then I put the camera into Manual mode and I change the f-stop to the lowest setting which happens to be 1.8 and the ISO is something that we started with. I put the shutter speed in automatic and just had fun with it.

I really suggest that the best way to learn how to use your camera is to play with it and look at all the different photos you take and decide what you like the most.
