Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest Kodak EasyShare P730 Digital Picture Frame #Giveaway

September 12, 2010 by Momstart 562 Comments

National Geographic Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest

Twelve photographers from across the country have been named Category Finalists in the 2010 Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest with National Geographic and the photos look great. Each photographer is now one step closer to their “shot” at greatness, even though I think they will all find other opportunities. These photos are just amazing to me. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a trip of a lifetime to the Greek Isles and will see his or her photo appear in the pages of National Geographic magazine in an ad for Energizer® Ultimate Lithium batteries.

National Geographic Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest

From now through Sept. 15, you can go to www.nationalgeographic.com/lithium to view the gallery of Category Finalist photos. You can select your favorite in each category. The Finalist who receives the most votes in his or her category will advance to becoming a Category Winner. The six Category Winners will enter a round of judging by Jim Richardson, National Geographic photographer and judge for the Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest. Richardson who will determine the Grand Prize Winner, to be announced on or about Nov. 4, 2010.

Popsicle Slow The Melt National Geographic Giveaway

August 29, 2010 by Momstart 153 Comments

Summer is almost over but helping the polar ice caps is an on-going event. Popsicle is quite excited about helping to “Slow the Melt”.

slowMelt

Popsicle is partnering with National Geographic Kids to raise awareness on the melting ice caps and helping to slow it down. Just by using less energy you can help. By shutting off the lights every time you leave the room or by turning off the water while brushing your teeth you are taking small steps to help. National Geographic created 10 simple steps to slow the melting of the polar ice caps.

  • Switch off the light every time you leave a room.

  • Turn off the TV or video game and play outside.

  • Ride a bike or walk instead of using the car.

  • Take short showers instead of baths. Aim for five minutes-but still get clean!

  • Turn over used paper and use it for artwork or scrap paper.

  • Turn off the water while brushing your teeth.

  • Participate in clean up days at a beach or park.

  • Scrape leftovers off dishes and into the trash instead of rinsing the food off. Then wash them.

  • Drink from a reusable water bottle. All those single-serve bottles create waste in production and pollution with delivery.

  • Place your desk next to a window and use natural light instead of a lamp.

dorapopsicle You can learn more from “Big Book of Fun”. My kids received a copy of Big Book of Fun by National Geographic and Zoe loves looking at the pictures and asking a ton of questions. I love watching her interest in something so educational. And for those that live in a rainy area like me:

  • For those rainy summer days, Popsicle has created four fun and educational games to keep the kids entertained, which can be found in the Slow Melt Game Zone on Popsicle.com/kids.

Popsicle is sponsoring a giveaway here for five winners.

National Geographic Little Kids Magazine Giveaway

April 10, 2010 by Momstart 83 Comments

I used to love to look at my grandmother’s subscription of National Geographic. It was always fun to look at the pictures of other countries and learn about other cultures. Now, you can bring that education and fun to the hearts of your children through National Geographic Little Kids Magazine.

We received four Little Kid Magazines from National Geographic on behalf of The Family Review Network. I gave them to my kids just this morning and we spent quite a while looking at the pictures and exploring. I was quite impressed when both of my kids were able to say “binoculars”. Wow, that’s a big word. Each magazine has pictures, information and learning/educational ideas to do with your children. It’s a great way to get interactive and teach your kids. You’re supposed to be reading to your kids anyways. Now you can read, play games and watch their minds grow. That’s what I just loved about National Geographic growing up.

Currently, National Geographic Little Kids magazine sells for $3.99 an issue or you can subscribe to one year of 6 issues for just $15.

The recommended age is 3 to 6 but my son was extremely engaged with the pictures and he just turned two.

Product Description:

National Geographic Little Kids is the magazine for young explorers, packed with teaching tools to help parents inspire a love of learning in their children. There are captivating animal stories, answers to questions on kids’ favorite topics, features on different cultures to inspire a sense of understanding about the world, plus interactive experiments to introduce simple science. Each issue also includes a set of six wild animal cards. National Geographic Little Kids is available by subscription (six issues a year) and on newsstands.
