The Time I tried to Steal The 2014 Muppets Toyota Highlander #Noroomforboring #Muppetsmostwantedevent

March 9, 2014 by Momstart 5 Comments

Watching the Muppets on TV in their Toyota Highlander has me going a little crazy. I love the green and how much fun they are having, I just thought to myself, if I have the chance to drive the Muppets Green Toyota Highlander I’m taking it. Well last month when I was at the auto show the car was there. It was right in front of me. So I sneaked right up to it and had to try the door. I looked both ways to make sure no one was watching me and I opened the door and hopped right in. My friends were standing around as if they could keep the guards away from me while I drove off but alas, I was dragged out of the Toyota Highlander and told to keep the film. HA!

I really thought with my purple hair they wouldn’t be able to tell that I wasn’t a Muppet!

Well, I came that close you know!

Toyota is proud to be presenting sponsor of the world premiere of Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted”. The collaboration between Toyota and Disney blends Toyota’s “Let’s Go Places” spirit with Disney’s lovable Muppets franchise. Toyota debuted its 60-second Super Bowl spot starring the Muppets and Terry Crews earlier this year, inspiring families to discover why there’s "No Room for Boring" in the all-new Toyota Highlander.

The 2014 Toyota Highlander’s roomy interior has enough space to seat up to eight people, or over a dozen Muppets, and will serve as the Muppets’ vehicle of choice as they arrive in style at the movie premiere. A custom Highlander, specially wrapped in true Muppet fashion, will also be featured on the red carpet for photo opportunities. To learn more about the all-new Toyota Highlander, visit www.toyota.com/highlander, #NoRoomForBoring.

Miss Piggy wears Vivienne Westwood: Will Kermit the Frog Finally Say “I Do”? #MuppetsMostWantedEvent

February 11, 2014 by Momstart 8 Comments

I’ve been waiting for years for this news. I’m so excited for Miss Piggy, Kermit keeps saying “It’s not what you think” but it will end up being what we think right? I mean come on, Muppets how long can you string us along. I feel like Miss Piggy and Kermit have the longest running relationship ever!

MUPPETS MOST WANTED

Miss Piggy is back on the big screen, starring in Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted,” which follows the Muppets on a grand, star-studded tour throughout Europe. The European setting screamed romance to Miss Piggy, who’s been trying to convince her favourite frog to tie the knot for years. But what will the divine diva don for the all-new film, which hits theatres in the US March 21, 2014? Vivienne Westwood was commissioned to create couture designs for the fashion icon, including a white dress that would be perfect for a wedding … if one should actually take place.

“Vivienne Westwood is fabulous—just like moi,” said Miss Piggy. “When I asked her to design this wedding dress for moi’s new movie “Muppets Most Wanted,” she was thrilled and I was thrilled. The only one a bit ‘iffy’ about it was the Frog.”

In the film, Miss Piggy wears a Vivienne Westwood couture Long Ivory Court wedding gown, with corset detailing and paillettes made from recycled plastic bottles, accessorised with an ivory tulle veil. Piggy also entrusted the designer with additional looks for the film, including a Vivienne Westwood couture Harris Tweed houndstooth check coat and matching beret worn in a scene set at Tower of London. Miss Piggy also chose a long silver hand-embroidered floral lace gown for a very special number in the film.

So the question on everyone’s lips remains: Will we see Miss Piggy marry her beloved Kermie in “Muppets Most Wanted,” and will she finally get to wear her dream Vivienne Westwood gown down the aisle?

“You’ll have to see the movie to find out,” insisted Miss Piggy.

-An exclusive Q&A with Vivienne Westwood about designing this gown is available in the March issue of US Harpers’ Bazaar, click here to read the story www.harpersbazaar.com/misspiggy

Interview with Kermit The Frog: Muppets Most Wanted It’s Easy Being Green #MuppetsMostWanted

January 13, 2014 by Momstart 5 Comments

Ahhh, another one on one with Kermit The Frog. I mean, at least I got a picture with him, but I did share the interview time with a few other bloggers. Kermit is so upbeat about his career right now, I mean the Muppets are back and they are on fire with moves like Mick Jagger. He’s doing so well he’s changed his philosophy on being green.

Q : Has it gotten easier being green?

KERMIT : It has. You know, it’s funny, uh, when I first sung that song all those years ago it was really about being comfortable in one’s own skin, you know. And then it sort of became the battle of choir of the environment movement which is fine. I’m very close to the environment so I have no problem with that but, you know, I went to a be green support group and, uh, I found that it helped enormously.

Q : How many members?

KERMIT : Oh, there were only two of us, me and Yoda and it works very well. There’s motto is, uh, just because you’re green doesn’t mean you’ve gone bad, you know.

MUPPET MOST WANTED

Now as you should know by now the Movie has a Kermit lookalike in it and he’s a bad guy. Kermit started the interview telling us a bit about him.

KERMIT : His name is Constantine and he’s actually played by a friend of mine from the swamp. We are the same species of frog and he looks an awful lot like me only he has a mark right here like a mold and he speaks with a strange, uh, sort of Eastern European accent, yes. Now I will tell you in real life he’s not that evil but in the movie he’s very evil, you know.

image

Q : How’s your relationship with Piggy?

KERMIT : Oh, it’s good, it’s good. We just did a movie together which h is great, you know. Always coming — kind of an up, you know, when we do a film together. Uh, I think she’s around tonight somewhere.

image

Q : Is there a rumor of a wedding gown?

KERMIT : Yes [COUGHS], excuse me I got choked up there. Yes, yes that’s true, but, it may — I’ll just say, I’m not gonna tell you the story of the movie but it may not be what you think.

KERMIT : Yes, yes, there is mystery.

Q : What was it like shooting in London?

KERMIT : Well it was great except that it was incredibly cold. Uh, we did the Muppet Show over there like 35 years ago and, uh, and most of the time I wore clothes. I had to do a many scenes over there all natural and it was very cold. Yeah, but I love London and we have a great bunch of fans over there too and I like it very much.

Q : Have you taken Walter on as a protégé?

KERMIT : Well, you know, Walter is a great guy. He’s a wonderful Muppet fan, you know, so I guess you could say that. He’s got a place with the Muppets now. You know, he has to do more than whistle, you know. I mean he can’t just whistle so we’re finding — he’s finding his Muppet feet, sort of speak, you know, which is hard ‘cause many of the Muppets you really don’t see their feet. So I brought mine along today since you were all here today, but, you know.

image

Q : Which Muppet has changed the most?

KERMIT : Well, you know, I’ve gone through quite a few changes. There was a time in like the early 60s where I had these little club feet that didn’t have my flippers yet, right after my tail fell off, right after my tadpole hood. And then there was a time that, you know, it was like a 70s fashion statement. I had two collars. If you look at some of my pictures I had like a double collar that I wore and, uh, so I’ve changed. Uh, let’s see the most changed? Piggy hasn’t changed at all if you know what I mean. Yeah, I’m gonna say me. I’m gonna say me.

Q : Physically?

KERMIT : Physically and, uh, you know, I mean I’m not a young frog anymore. Uh, you get wiser as you get older. Different things become important like working with the same people all the time which I love, with the Muppets, you know. I cherish that.

Q : Will there be a crossover with Muppets and Star Wars?

KERMIT : That’s very weird isn’t, you know. I, I think speaking of Yoda I tried out for that part years ago and right color, wrong ears. I don’t know. That’d be great, wouldn’t it?

MUPPET MOST WANTED

Q : How many musical numbers does Kermit perform?

KERMIT : I do, uh, you know, I have to tell you the truth. I’m in the opening number in the film. You know, this film — everyone tell you one thing. This film sort of talks up right where our last film left off. The end of that film is kind of the beginning of this film and so the opening number of the next film is a great number that I actually am a part of with all the other guys. Uh, I don’t really have a solo number in this film. Piggy has like six. Some of those might get cut but we have to do that just to get her to come on the set. But the music’s great. Again written by Brett McKenzie and some of these numbers are amazing but my favorite is one called The Big House and during the course of the film I actually get, uh, well I’ll tell you this part, too. I end up in a Russian gulag.

…..Yes. It’s a very dramatic part for me to play, you know, uh, being a prisoner in prison. Of course the warden there, the chief warden is, is Nadia played by Tina Fey and, uh, yeah, I had big fun with her. She sings a great song called The Big House about welcoming me to prison and as Tina said Nadia loves prison so it’s a great song.

Q : Are there other Muppets that we don’t see a lot of?

KERMIT : Well Lou is there. You know, we try to bring the whole crew back again. I don’t know if I Lou has a big part necessarily but you’ll see him. Who else? Link Hogthrob is there. Uh, another character is back and really back is Annie Sue Pig. Any of you know Annie Sue? You have to be a Muppet show fan to be a Annie Sue. She’s actually back. I can’t remember if she had any lines but she was there.

Q : How do the ladies feel about that?

KERMIT : Well, you know, some things never change. You know, you don’t wanna mess with that.

It was really great chatting with Kermit The Frog again. He’s so intelligent and insightful. His movie comes out March 21st.

Sesame Street 20 Years and Still Counting Review

August 28, 2010 by Momstart 2 Comments

Sesame_3DThanks to Lionsgate we received Sesame Street 20 Years and Still Counting. Hosted by Bill Cosby it surely is dated! America’s most groundbreaking educational TV Series comes to DVD and Digital Download for the first time ever to Celebrate the iconic show’s 20th Anniversary!  There was also special appearances by Ray Charles, Jim Henson, Placido Domingo, the Muppets and more.

I liked watching it because it had scenes from when I watched it, even though, Sesame Street is so old, it was almost 20 years old when I started watching it, well ok, maybe just over 10 years old, I’m not that old yet, but it was a classic then it it is a classic today.

Sesame Street 20 Years and Still Counting is perfect for my kids to watch. The DVD is geared towards the pre-school audience and watching Bill Cosby brings back all kinds of memories. Man, I miss decent TV that we can all sit down as a family and watch together. There was one scene in there that Bill Cosby looks back on and people say, is that really you, and he replies, no that’s my son. No, Bill Cosby really was that young once upon a time. But weren’t we all? We love Sesame Street and recommend 20 Years and Still Counting for those that love it now and then!

How can anyone ruin the Muppet experience

June 10, 2009 by MomStart 5 Comments

Now as I’m sitting here writing this my husband said I have no right to write this. But I’m going to anyways because I’m not the only mom who felt this way. (he said that the article he read clearly stated that it was not about the Muppets.)

Today our MOMS Club activity was to go visit the EMP – Experience Music Project and see the Muppets. Well, that’s what we thought it was. It was more of a tribute to Jim Henson and his work, but it was advertised with all the cute Muppets and with all of us moms we just got Muppet crazy. We packed up our kids and headed to Seattle.

No strollers allowed and no bags over 16 inches, so this was my first clue that it’s not meant for kids. However, the red flags were not big enough for me to back out. I mean there were five moms and seven kids in tow and we promised them the Muppets. Next thing I’m noticing is that the Muppet exhibit is down a flight of steep stairs, now why would you put a children’s exhibit down a flight of stairs. Ok, I carry both of my children down the stairs and finally we see Kermit the frog sitting underneath a glass display.

I was very proud of my daughter for being able to say Kermit the Frog, and for the fact she noticed Fragile Rock. We have the entire Fraggle Rock: The Complete Series Collection on DVD. She loves to watch it and dance to it. If I had no children with me I would have read all of the information about each display. But nope, I had a two year old that wanted to go do something more interesting than look at a total of five Muppet displays under glass.

The only thing that was child friendly was a puppet theater where you could go behind the stage and be the puppets playing in a band and your friends could watch.

EMP|SFM will supplement the exhibition with a hands-on puppet theater starring Seattle’s newest band, Mudgarden Experience. The theater will allow visitors to experience what it’s like to perform puppets for an audience and view themselves on monitors—much like how it might have been for Jim Henson while he was filming “Sesame Street” or “The Muppet Show." The audience will be able to watch the puppet show from an area reminiscent of the famous stoop on “Sesame Street.”

Taken from www.empsfm.org.

It was quite a day, everyone was exhausted after carting children up and down the steps. I’m sure this is perfect for older children. I would say middle school and up. We did look at the rest of the EMP and the science fiction hall of fame is my favorite part. I love science fiction, but my daughter was afraid because the floor vibrated like we were actually on a space ship. So if you are reading this post…..More Muppets PLEASE.
