LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers Review and #giveaway

February 28, 2010 by Momstart 400 Comments

Universal Home Entertainment sent us the first Lego movie to be released to DVD, LEGO: The Adventures of Clutch Powers.  We put it in to watch but we couldn’t finish it. Clutch is like Indiana Jones and his travels take him a on journey like The Lord of The Rings. It was too scary for my two year old. However, if you’re child is 3 or 4 or older then it will probably be fine. My daughter who is 3 kept saying that it wasn’t too scary so it’s up to you. Great children’s epic.

From my movie watching perspective; I liked it. It kept my attention and although I didn’t watch the rest with my kids I had to see how it ended. Clutch is a likable character that loves adventures. In his latest adventure he find friendship and team work by, “building on each other”.

Trailer:

December 16, 2009 by Momstart 1,409 Comments

I have the opportunity to take you to the movies. I love going to the movies on Christmas Day. Most of the time it’s not very busy. Last time I went my family was in a theater with maybe one other family. I’m not big on crowds so I love Christmas Day Movie Releases!

christmas at the movies

Universal Pictures is releasing to theaters on Christmas Day It’s Complicated starring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin. Jane is the mother of three grown kids, owns a thriving Santa Barbara bakery/restaurant and a divorce. Suddenly after 10 years of divorce and an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Baldwin) they find themselves out of town for their son’s college graduation, things start to get complicated.  An innocent meal together turns into the unimaginable—an affair.  With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness (Lake Bell), Jane is now, of all things, the other woman.

Caught in the middle of their renewed romance is Adam (Martin), an architect hired to remodel Jane’s kitchen.  Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam starts to fall for Jane, but soon realizes he’s become part of a love triangle.

My Sister’s Keeper Movie Review

November 17, 2009 by Momstart 9 Comments

I don’t consider myself much of a movie reviewer yet. I love watching movies, I could spend my life watching movies. Just wasting time watching them over and over again. Even though My Sister’s Keeper kept me in and out of tears I’ll be adding it to the set of movies I watch over and over again.

Warner Brother’s sent me a copy of My Sister’s Keeper [Blu-ray] to review.

1000095109BRDLEFO My Sister’s Keeper is about a girl who was conceived to save her sister with cancer. The dynamics in the family as they all fight to save her change as she gets worse. The daughter that was created to save her sister decides to sue her parents for the rights to deny any more donations to her sister.

What a heartbreaking story as the family falls apart the young girl gets worse and the son that I haven’t even mentioned yet feels completely useless. I’m in complete tears watching this. Being a mother I can’t watch movies about kids dying without crying my eyes out. My doctor didn’t want me to have a hysterectomy for just this reason, but I can’t imagine creating a child just in case.

I really love this movie.

Synopsis

What keeps a family together? Nick Cassavetes, the director of The Notebook and John Q, again demonstrates his sure hand with tales of deep human emotion in this inspiring film about a loving family challenged — and united – by a child’s illness. Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, Alec Baldwin and others in an exceptional cast bring sensitivity to the story of 11-year-old Anna Fitzgerald, conceived to be a donor for her leukemia-stricken sister, and who finally demands the right to control her own body. This act of free will may tear the Fitzgeralds apart. Or it may be the first step to a triumphant realization of devotion, dignity and what it means to be a family.http://www.mysisterskeepermovie.com/
