I Forgot My Coffee and a McDonalds New Fruit and Maple Oatmeal Giveaway

February 4, 2011 by Momstart 298 Comments

My kids’ favorite thing to eat right now for breakfast is Oatmeal. They love almost any flavor and adding fruit makes it even more enticing for them. So you all know that I love McDonalds right? I know, I shouldn’t love them, but I do. The convenience is there and we don’t go nearly as often as we did a year ago, in fact it’s been about three weeks since I went through that beloved drive through. I took Miles there three weeks ago, my soul purpose was to get a coffee because they are good, great even and cheaper than Starbucks right?

Well, I order my coffee, and then I decided to get a cookie for Miles and they had 3 for 1.50 or something like that. Then by the time I pulled up to window, paid then pulled up to the second window, and they gave me the cookies. I gave one to Miles and started eating mine and I drove off.

McDonalds Fruit and Maple OatmealWithout My Coffee! (oh and I forgot to mention that on my way to McDonalds I backed into someone in a parking lot and they were parked, I was having a bad day and greatly needed this coffee)

Oh, I really wanted to get that coffee, it was the only reason I went there and then no coffee, and I paid for it and I was already having a bad day so I just drove home and sulked while eating my cookie.

Next week, I shall return to try their oatmeal and grab another coffee, I’ve already been told by a neighbor that it’s good (and she is VERY trustworthy!). Which is why I agreed to host this lovely giveaway for you wonderful readers of mine!

I WILL NOT DRIVE OFF WITHOUT MY COFFEE NEXT WEEK

……at least I hope I won’t!

Monopoly is Back At McDonalds Gift Card #Giveaway #PlayAtMcD

October 23, 2010 by Momstart 505 Comments

Hello, My name is Louise Bishop and I am addicted to the game of Monopoly. I have about 50 different versions of Monopoly in my house and I plan on getting new versions as they come out. I found a new one at Costco and it was very difficult to leave it there. I may have to go back and get it for my husband for Christmas, or at least that will be my excuse. LOL. I’m so addicted that I find that when McDonalds is hosting the game of Monopoly I find myself making excuses to go to McDonalds.

imageLast Thursday afternoon, I was shopping with Miles. It was snack time for him and I forgot a snack so we dropped into the drive through. I purchased something to eat and share and a coffee. I wasn’t even thinking about the Monopoly game but when my coffee came out with game pieces on it I was thrilled.

There are tons of exciting prizes (like a chance to win $1 Million, a 2011 Ford Shelby GT500, and a Beaches vacation) and two ways to win: by playing in-store and online at http://www.playatmcd.com.
You can also check out McDonald’s MONOPOLY through social media channels this year:

  • McDonalds on Facebook
  • Follow McDonald’s on Twitter   for trivia and ways to play
  • Track McDonald’s MONOPOLY conversation on Twitter using hashtag #PlayAtMcD
  • Check out McDonalds.com to see a map of all of the people across the country checking in to McDonald’s on Foursquare. The more customers check in on Foursquare using the Monopoly hashtag <http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23PlayAtMcD> , the more houses and hotels their home states will receive

Each piece has an on-line code. One year my husband entered every game code and we ended up with a few fun games to play on the computer. I would take the time to enter the codes, you never know what you’ll win on-line!!

Awesome Promotions for How To Train Your Dragon

April 14, 2010 by Momstart 4 Comments

How to Train Your Dragon is currently in theaters and has been picked up by McDonalds and they have the coolest Happy Meal toys that we have seen in a long time. My husband even says they are like toys that we used to get a long time ago, shhhh, when we were kids. Yes, 20 years ago, the toys that came in Happy Meals used to be really cool.

We have two of them now and are enjoying them. The one in the photo below, on the top right hand corner, breathes fire, and the one just to the left of it, spits fire. It’s really cool, because they are such great quality to be a kids happy meal toy. High five for everyone involved in this creative effort. I want to go see the movie now.

McDonalds is not the only company with a market share on How to Train Your Dragon, Walmart is also sharing the fun. In fact, they had an entire event with a boat in downtown NY.

Viking actor Skippy "D" teaches a child how to roar like a dragon at Walmart’s “How to Train Your Dragon” Viking Ship event in New York’s Times Square Tuesday March 23 2010.

As part of this unique effort, Walmart and DreamWorks Animation began working on their joint collaboration surrounding “How to Train Your Dragon” over a year ago. The program brings licensed products for the film to retail in a new and engaging way that hasn’t been done before in Walmart stores. Manufacturers such as Kraft, Kellogg, Pepsi and Spin Master among others worked directly with Walmart and DreamWorks Animation months ago to create custom “How to Train Your Dragon” branded products.

The dragon-ized products include anything a little Viking could want, including exciting dragon and Viking-themed toys such as foam swords and helmets, apparel, skateboards, hooded towels, sunglasses and snacks, all available among the life-like character stands of Viking- and dragon-themed fixtures, as well as Walmart’s actual Viking Ship displays holding the products.  Also for the first time, Walmart has developed a “How to Train Your Dragon” activity book that will be found in Happy Meals at 1,000 McDonald’s locations in Walmart stores.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Walmart on a robust consumer experience that features such fun and engaging thematic tie-ins to ‘How to Train Your Dragon,’” said Anne Globe, head of Worldwide Marketing & Consumer Products for DreamWorks Animation. “Our innovative approach to this program with Walmart was inspired by the great creative elements of the film itself, and we are so excited to extend the life of the movie beyond the theater for families to connect with DreamWorks Animation’s characters and worlds in new ways both in stores and online.”

I of course missed the event because I live in the North West Coast of the country and we miss out on all of these fun events.

McDonalds Mac Snack Wrap, healthy choices #giveaway

February 8, 2010 by Momstart 230 Comments

The golden arches known as McDonalds have turned the Big Mac into a healthier option(healthier than other burgers at McDonalds), the Mac Snack Wrap. (The following is my opinion)

macsnackwrap

The new Mac Snack Wrap has the same classic Big Mac taste, in a smaller snack-size portion, making it the perfect portable, high-quality premium snack for busy moms like you at a great value of $1.49. Now, you can get that Big Mac taste on-the-go in a warm flour tortilla, not to mention the benefit of the smaller snack-sized portion to help fulfill those cravings you get for Big Macs.

I have had the opportunity to try one. McDonalds provided me with a “Be Our Guest Card,” good for a free Mac Snack Wrap at any of their participating restaurants. I was a little afraid to try them because, let’s be honest, the photos looks awful. Sorry, but McDonalds, you need to take some new pictures. To me I think it’s the little batty onions in the photo. Yuck, I hate onions.

Do not let the photo fool you, I ordered one and a coffee. I expected to still be hungry but was going to wait before I ordered anything else. I liked it. It is hamburger pieces, a tiny bit of lettuce, pickles, special sauce, and cheese (I said no onions). I found it to be good, without the onions. In fact, when i finished it I ordered a new one. I purchased both of them with my own money and did not use the “be our guest card” because I didn’t have it on my while I was traveling.

I’m happy that McDonalds is trying to have healthier options for us to eat. I just wish that proportions sizes would go back down.

Not only did they intend on me using one of the cards but they are also providing nine other “Be our Guest Cards” for me to use as giveaways here on Mom Start. I will select 10 winners for this giveaway.

McDonalds provided me with 10 “be our guest cards” One was for me to use and the other nine are to be given away. It is my choice to give all ten away and try the McSnack Wrap with my own money. What I wrote is my opinion and has not been influenced in any way.
