Find Five Places and Spaces to Travel with Kids “Residence Inn by Marriott Family Travel Talk”

July 17, 2013 by Momstart 1 Comment

I’m so excited to share with you that I’m writing for Residence Inn by Marriott. Residence Inn by Marriott has a family Facebook page called, the “Residence Inn by Marriott Family Travel Talk” forum on Facebook and I invite you to join because there you’re going to hear from other bloggers like me that travel a lot. Over the past five years I’ve traveled a lot with and without my kids. Weekly you’ll tips and articles like the one I’m sharing with you below, but this one, to see it all you’re going to have to jump over to the “Residence Inn by Marriott Family Travel Talk” forum on Facebook. Here is what you will find….

Traveling with your children can be a great adventure and doesn’t have to take place at the same spots everyone else goes on vacation. Disneyland, Disneyworld…been there…Universal Studios…done that. There are plenty of creative ways to spend your summer with your children on the road and off. Even if you do want to go down to Kissimmee, there are more things to do than the theme parks. A few of my favorite places to travel with my family:IMG_0629

· Cruising: My kids ages 5 and 6 both LOVED going on a cruise last year and there are ports across the United States with ships that travel to exotic places all over the world. Check out Puerto Rico, where there’s so much history within its walls, or spot some whales with the family on a cruise from Seattle to Alaska.

· Utah: I recommend Park City, with mountains to visit in the winter for skiing and snowboarding, and in the summer for hiking, biking and other warm-weather activities. Don’t miss the Olympic Park, where athletes train all year round.

To find the last three recommendations from me, please go visit the “Residence Inn by Marriott Family Travel Talk”

The Residence Inn by Marriott Is Made for Family Travel

Residence Inn by Marriott – MADE for Family Travel

By: Ashley

What are the biggest challenges you face when traveling with your family? Getting your kids to sleep? Keeping sippy cups stocked with milk? Planning meals that don’t cost too much AND aren’t fast food? Those are the things going through my mind when I travel with my family. The good news? After my recent stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott, I’m pretty sure I’ve got the answer to most of those questions. With so many of us planning summer trips and travel, you can find a GREAT place for your family to stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott.

Image (1)

What does Residence Inn by Marriott have that you need? Image (2)

· MORE SPACE! The rooms are bigger than traditional hotel rooms, and most importantly for me, you can get 1 or 2 bedroom suites that have doors separating sleeping from living areas. That means no crazy blackout times once Atticus is in bed where I’m trying to use my laptop under the blankets! Not to mention, there’s enough room for kids to actually spread out and make themselves at home.

· FULL KITCHENS! You don’t have to move things out of the mini bar fridge and hope that a few cartons of milk will fit. There is a real fridge to keep snacks, drinks and whatever you need fresh! Oh… and that whole eating fast food dilemma? With a full size fridge, microwave, cook top AND the cookware and utensils to match, you can cook your own meals for your family. (An especially great option for families with food sensitivities and allergies.)

· FREE BREAKFAST! Every Residence Inn Marriott provides a full, hot breakfast every morning. This is a far cry from the stale “continental breakfasts” that you hear about. I’m not talking powdered foamy eggs either (at least in the Residence Inns that I’ve stayed at). They provide a REAL breakfast that is perfect for families with plenty of options for kids and parents alike. DSC01893

· ROOM TO PLAY! If your family has been traveling and has a ton of pent up energy, you can take a swim in the pool, walk around the tons of common areas throughout Residence Inn, or even pick up a game of basketball if your location has one of the incredible multipurpose courts. Need a break just for you? There’s a workout facility with elliptical, treadmills, or weights. DSC01894

· LAUNDRY FACILITIES! Wash the clothes that your little ones inevitable spill ice cream on, rub strawberries into, or grind dirt on. This helps you pack light like you really want to, but still have plenty of fresh, clean clothes for the family. DSC01891

The list of perks from Residence Inn by Marriott really does go on. Whether it’s the available grocery delivery, the 24/7 small marketplace in the hotel, or even the board games the front desk has for borrowing (at least at the location I was at), Residence Inn by Marriott really is MADE for family travel.

There is SO MUCH work to do when planning a family vacation. Let deciding where to stay be the easy part. With more than 600 all-suite properties in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Costa Rica, Residence Inn by Marriott is ready for you… AND YOUR FAMILY!

Residence Inn by Marriott had me stay there for one night to facilitate this review.

Comfortable at Residence Inn Marriott

June 5, 2010 by Momstart 14 Comments

It wasn’t that long ago that I stayed at Residence Inn Marriott. We were in Texas and I needed a place that was close to the airport in Dallas. We were driving and I saw the signs for the Residence Inn. I knew that they were part of the Marriott so I expected that they would be nice. They Were!

When I walked into the lobby, I noticed that they had food for sale, they had frozen foods and some other snacks including refrigerated foods. This gave me the idea that my room would have a kitchenette. I was planning on staying at the hotel until I could get a flight out of Dallas, with the snow we were having, I wasn’t sure how long my stay would be.

Having the kitchen, stove, and microwave in the room was really helpful since I had two children. I was able to store some milk and other necessities for my stay. But it wasn’t only the kitchenette that made me feel comfortable. The bed, bathroom, and couch in the open room also made me feel like I was in a very spacious area for three to stay in.

We have a Residence Inn in walking distance of our house. So it’s a possibility when my family comes. Having them close and in a room that feels more like an apartment than a hotel should make their stay nice. It also helps that Marriott has a points program for members and Residence Inn is one of the qualifying hotels. There is more than 600 locations across the U.S. and Canada and include a free hot breakfast daily and free Internet access. WOW, free internet access at a hotel is getting harder and harder to find.

I can honestly recommend Residence Inn Marriott as a comfortable place to stay in your travels this summer. I would say the price is average, but great for what all you get! What that means is that it isn’t going to break the bank, it isn’t the cheapest option, but it is a valuable option! If it has been a while since you’ve been to a Residence Inn, consider popping in one to check out the new renovations.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central  on behalf of Residence Inn by Marriott and received a chance to win a weekend stay at a Residence Inn to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central also sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate
