Nature Made Kids First Vitamins Benefit Make-A-Wish

October 25, 2014 by Momstart Leave a Comment

We received samples

When it comes to getting kids to eat a variety we all know that it can be quite difficult. My son eats anything I cook but hates most veggies and won’t touch fruit unless I tell him that’s all he gets. Most of the time he says he’s not hungry after all which is when I can tell he really is really hungry because then he eats his fruit. Because I don’t want to spend all my time worrying about the nutrition they get I do give them vitamins and always have. image

Heads Up Seattle: Macy’s Holiday Events Bring Santa, Fireworks and Charity All Together

November 21, 2011 by Momstart Leave a Comment

We didn’t really do anything outside of the home and family for last year’s holiday season. This year though we have big plans and one of them is the Macy’s Holiday Parade.

MACY’S HOLIDAY PARADE AND STAR LIGHTING TO KICK OFF HOLIDAY SEASON

In celebration of the 2011 holiday season, Macy’s is proud to announce that its annual My Macy’s Holiday Parade will take place on Friday, November 25, 2011 in downtown Seattle. My only concern is that this is going to be insane because it’s also Black Friday. Oh well, it’s good to do fun Holiday stuff as a family. The parade steps off promptly at 9 a.m. and lasts approximately one hour. The Holiday Parade route will begin at 7th and Pine, then travel west down Pine St. to 5th Avenue, south on 5th Avenue to University Street, west on University to 4th, and then north on 4th to Macy’s doorstep.

The Seattle Times and Warm 106.9 FM radio are the media partners for the Parade this year. Macy’s signature inflatable floats will make their annual appearance in this Seattle tradition. This year’s Parade will include two new train cars for the candy cane express inflatable float and a new rocking horse inflatable float and costumes from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. The parade will feature more than 20 inflatable floats, local high school marching bands, over 500 costumed characters, professional sports teams and community drill teams.

The parade will conclude shortly after Santa dashes in his sleigh past Macy’s, heading directly from the North Pole to his Seattle holiday post in Macy’s Santaland, which opens at 11:00 AM.

MACY’S STAR LIGHTING & FIREWORKS SHOW

What excites me even more than the parade is the three lighting. That same evening, Macy’s will continue the tradition of the Holiday Star Lighting Ceremony in conjunction with the annual Seattle Westlake Center tree lighting. The famous 161-foot high, 3,600-bulb Holiday Star is a Seattle favorite. This event begins at 5 p.m. and will include an incredible fireworks display (weather permitting). My husband and I attended this event in the beginning of our marriage. I think it would be so fun to do it again with the kids this year.

SANTALAND AND SANTA DIGITAL PHOTOS

The tradition of visiting Santaland and having family portraits taken with the Old St. Nick continues at the downtown Macy’s store on the 6th floor. Macy’s will once again offer a wide assortment of digital photography packages. Santa photos will be available every day from Friday, November 25 through Friday, December 24. For more information visit www.macys.com/believe and www.macy.com/events for Santaland daily hours

HOLIDAY “BELIEVE” CAMPAIGN TO BENEFIT MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION

Make-a-Wish_thumb[1]

We mentioned this campaign in Beginning November 6, believers of all ages are invited to drop off letters – stamped and addresses to Santa at the North Pole – at any Santa Mail letterbox at your local Macy’s store. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1 million, to grant wishes to local children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Season of Giving Day 10: Make A Wish

November 10, 2011 by Momstart 7 Comments

By Summer:

Everyone has big dreams; even children. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is known for making big dreams come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions. When a child is chosen to receive a wish there are no hurdles too high! Children have joined sports teams; played in concerts for large audiences in desired venues; gone to landmarks and choice vacation locations; had their dream job for a day; met superheroes and princess; etc.

Make-A-Wish actually began in 1980 from one little boy’s wish to become a police officer. He got his wish and passed away 4 days later. The Make-A-Wish founders (one founder being the boy’s mom) felt so moved by the smiles and momentary release of the child’s pain during his wish that they started a foundation which became a non-profit and has enough money to grant a second wish only one year later, in 1981. To date more than 250,000 wishes have been granted and counting.

You can donate directly to The Make-A-Wish Foundation and this holiday season you can also support Make-A-Wish even more while you shop:Make a Wish - Disney

· Now until December 11, the Disney Store is offering a Mickey or Minnie holiday plush for only $10 with a minimum $40 purchase. From the sale of each plush $1 will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $50,000. You can shop at the Disney Store online or find a store near you.

Make a Wish - Macy's

· Macy’s offers two ways to help with their Believe campaign and Thanks for Sharing campaign. Macy’s Believe is already in full swing with mailboxes in every Macy’s store; just deposit a stamped letter to Santa into the designated letterbox Macy’s will donate $1, up to $1 million, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Macy’s Thanks for Sharing is for Macy’s card holders which allows 10% rewards on participating holiday purchases through December 31. Macy’s Thanks for Sharing campaign has an enrollment fee for $25 of which $10 is donated to charities including (but not limited to) the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $15 million.

· Avis is offering Make-A-Wish friends up to 25% off on every rental. Avis will also donate 5% to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. See the Avis site for full details.

· GameStop is offering specially marked Make-A-Wish Foundations gift cards in stores only nationwide. For each card purchased Game Stop will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $100,000.Make a Wish - Things Remembered

· Things Remembered is offering 10 engravable items this holiday season. With the purchase of each a $2 donation will be giving to Make-A-Wish.

· Hard Rock Café International is giving 15% of the purchase price of the Ringo Starr Signature Series T-shirt and pin to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Other giving companies include TSS Photography, Cheryle’s, Speedco, Helzberg Diamonds, Ghirardelli, Black Bear Diner, Zaxby’s, Subaru, Discover Card, Creative Memories, Toys R Us, Learning Care Group, Bank of America and Wishes in Flight. I also always enjoy the Cold Stone Creamery Make-A-Wish days where the ice cream is free and donations can be made to benefit my local Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter.Make a Wish

You can find Make-A-Wish Internationally, the foundation of the United States, or connect with a local chapter. Connect with Make-A-Wish on Facebook and Twitter as well. You can also sign-up to receive The Make-A-Wish Foundation’s newsletter and keep up to date on the foundation and their newest dreams come true.
