Jergens Natural Glow Review

June 21, 2013 by Momstart Leave a Comment

By Rachel:

So, when I think of sunless tanning lotion, I think of that one girl in my 9th grade English class who used it. She used it a lot. It was also 1990 and she was ORANGE. Head to toe (at least the visible parts of her), orange. And so, I was a die-hard believer in getting my color the old fashioned way. Every chance I got, I could be found on a towel in my backyard, with a bikini and a battery powered boom box, timing how long I stayed on each side before I flipped over. Not the best use of time, and probably not the best for my skin, either.

Still, I remained skeptical of sunless tanners. In theory, it’s a great idea. But that orange girl from 9th grade still haunts me.

So when I was asked if I wanted to review some Jergens Natural Glow daily moisturizer, I decided to go for it. What the heck. It was for posterity.

I used the lotion every day for about a week and a half. As far as the functional ‘lotion’ aspects go, I was fairly impressed. It’s a foaming moisturizer and looks very much like the mousse I put in my hair.clip_image002

I think that helps you to be able to spread it evenly on your skin. It dried quickly, so I didn’t feel sticky or slimy, and I was able to get dressed without worrying about the color rubbing off on my clothes. It also didn’t have a weird smell, which I guess has been a common complaint of self tanners in the past.

Now, as for how it ‘tanned’ me. I could definitely see a difference as the week progressed. It wasn’t drastic, which is good, because that would just be weird.

Although the lighting in my bathroom isn’t the best for trying to take pictures that show color changes, I did my best.

And, the best part is I wasn’t orange!

Blistex® Intensive Hand Cream Review

March 3, 2012 by Momstart 66 Comments

By Orshi:

Blistex has been taking care of lips for over 60 years. But get ready because they have a new product that will become a regular resident in your purse too. Blistex has just recently launched their new Intensive Hand Cream, available in scented and fragrance-free version. It is an amazing product that will easily help you through the winter months of dry, chapped hands.

I struggle with dry hands all day, every day. Having three children and being a teacher forces me to wash my hands way more often that I would like, leaving my skin dry and, well … just not healthy looking. So I was looking forward to trying the new Blistex Intensive Hand Cream. The special formulas in this hand cream combine glycerin to soften and hydrate, silicone to protect and lock-in moisture, plus chamomile and other extracts to soothe skin.

imageI have received both a scented and a fragrance free tube of Blistex Intensive Hand Cream and found homes for them quickly … one in my purse and one in my nightstand. I use them only once or occasionally twice a day. Be aware, just a little dab goes a long way. Using just a small enough amount to rub into your hands will allow it to get absorbed quickly and give you amazingly silky hands for hours. When I apply this hand-cream in the morning, I still feel its effects 3-4 hours later, after numerous hand washings. The advantage of giving immediate dry relieve and superb silky skin is amazing, but using it on regular bases will guarantee healthy looking and feeling skin that is really easy to get used to. The concentrated formula in the Blistex Intensive Hand Cream also delivers great results on troubled dry areas such as elbows and knees.

The 3 oz tube size is convenient to be carried in your purse and even with regular use, I could make one tube last through the whole winter season …. One little dab has a whole lot of magic packed in it! I personally prefer the fragrance free version, but the scented version is very nice as well with its soft, fresh smell.

So these have been all great news, but the best part is just coming. At $2.87 for a 3-ounce tube, it is an excellent value compared to most other hand cream products in the category today. As of now, Blistex Intensive Hand Cream is available only at Walmart (1500 locations).

  • Men’s – Magnesium (energizes skin), Niacinamide (B3) (conditions skin), Amino Acids (protein building blocks), Vitamins A, C, and E (antioxidant boost)

My Review:

When I put the lotion on in the morning, my hands still smell great at the end of the day. I’m also impressed that I don’t have the need to reapply throughout the day. Sometimes, I feel like using lotion is a scan, once you start using it you need to keep putting in on all day, but with Dial NutriSkin I feel like my hands are softer with just one application a day. If you read my blog often  you also know that I have very sensitive skin when it comes to lotion and chemicals coming in contact with my hands. So much so that testing lotions has become quite scary. I hate having swelling and itchy hands for a few hours. Well, guess what, Dial NutriSkin did not affect my hands at all! Dial NutriSkin Lotion is available for online purchase at CVS and you can follow it on Facebook and Twitter!

I received information about Dr. Jody Levine and samples on behalf of Dial.

From Mom To Daughter a Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion Review

March 6, 2011 by Momstart 12 Comments

Skin MD is a great lotion that is used as a lotion and as more of a protection and a barrier from elements, a Shielding lotion. What Is A Shielding Lotion? This is my take on it. Shielding lotion is a lotion that will keep in good oils and natural things that your body makes and keeps irritants and chemicals out. This is good for people like me with an allergy. How? First, it assists the inner layers of skin to absorb moisture. The humectant (an ingredient that attracts moisture) used in Skin MD Natural is unique to it and has been laboratory tested to be 6 times more effective than any other you will find in common creams. Second, a shielding lotion enhances the power of the top layer of the skin to resist environmental irritants while protecting the inner natural moisture

My Review:

I have sensitive skin and it is dry during the winter time. I also have some weird unexplained allergy to some chemical. I haven’t been tested so I have no idea what it is. I thought it was dust because every time I clean I get this itchy red skin. Well, after reading about chemicals in products and how they affect people I began to realize it could be the chemicals. I recently tried Vaseline’s New lotion line and it made my skin incredibly itchy. I had to run my hands under cold water for ten minutes before they stopped itching. Well, Skin MD Natural does not make me itch and I like the smell of it. My hands feel soft after regular use, just a few days actually. And it is very rare that I can actually use a lotion for more than one application. Most eventually make me itch.

Skin MD Natural is the lotion goes on easily, absorbs fast and has no greasy feel at all. It’s unique formulation and natural ingredients makes this shielding lotion far superior to any convention skin cream. Feel as soft a silk with Skin MD Natural, that’s the "wow" factor when you try it. You feel the results but you don’t feel the lotion. This is a product I’ve already reviewed so when Skin MD wanted a new review, I asked my mom to tell us her opinion of the product.

My Mom’s Review:

I started to do this Skin MD review for you last week and got distracted. You know how life is in Florida in the sun!! The Skin MD Lotion is really great, my hands are a lot softer. My hands just feel smooth ya know? It has helped with my hands, keeping them from cracking from the constant use of chemicals that I face from cleaning construction sites every day. I basically just applied it every day on my hands and elbows and I love how it works. My friends asked about my hands and I have recommended it to some of the ladies i work for. My Opinion

clip_image002

My husband has been asking me to buy him some lotion. I have been forgetting for forever. His hands are so dry. Belli Skincare sent me a full bottle of Nourish Me Enriched Body lotion. I tried it, it smells sweat, but not too strong. Now my husband being the man he is took one look at the bottle and said “I’m not using that crap”. Well, when I wasn’t looking he gave it a try and he said “that stuff isn’t so bad”. So he’s been using it ever since. I have found his hands are no longer dry. It will probably last both of us a long time because a little seems to go a long way, and we only use it as needed.

What is Belli’s “Nourish Me” Enriched Body Lotion?

“Nourish Me” Enriched Body Lotion is a pure and gentle hydrating cream which features essential ingredients for new, developing skin.  The main ingredient in this product is the essential oil of chamomile which is used to soften, smooth and soothe the skin

Nourish Me is meant for babies. It is recommended that you use it after a bath to seal in moisture. First make sure the baby is dry especially all of those cute little baby folds. Then massage it into the babies skin. I haven’t used it on my children, my husband and I have just used it for ourselves.

Discount Code

They have generously offered my readers a discount code for 15% off at checkout. The code is BELLIKMR.

Enjoy!!
