The First Years Ignite Stroller S130 Review

July 14, 2011 by Momstart 11 Comments

I have strollers. I have the original stroller purchased with the mate bucket carseat which was a necessity for an infant. My second stroller is a secondhand double jogging stroller. The problem with both of these strollers in their own right is they’re heavy and bulky. The First Year asked Mom Start to review the Ignite Stroller S130. I was game because I’m at the point in my life where I can ditch my first stroller and downsize in weight and space.

clip_image002

The First Year Ignite Stroller offers comfort for your child and smooth easy strolling for the driver. I have used this stroll walking on both lose gravel and sidewalks and find the driving smooth and easy to control. An adult has to assemble the stroller, but no tools are required. My husband did the assembly and said its 4-steps were “easy”.

Some models of The First Years Ignite Stroller include a bumper bar and/or cupholder. The model sent to me (pictured above) came with a cupholder but no bumper bar. All models have the canopy and a small handy under basket.

The length at which you can use The First Year Ignite will depend upon the size of your child, not the age for your child. The First Year Ignite Stroller is for children 50-pounds (22.5 kg) or less, and standing 40-inches (102 cm) or less.

clip_image004

This stroller is nice looking; you can get The First Year Ignite in the following patterns: Abstract Os, City Chic, Elegance Black Stripe, Fleur, Pink Polka Dotty, Red Stripe, Retro Geo, and Abstract Os Navy. Mom Start has been privileged to use the Abstract Os; shown below with my 22MO on board. Note my green water bottle in the area between the handle bars which is a built in pocket and cupholder. (Ignore Riley’s chocolate face … he just pigged out at big brother’s end of year preschool party.)

You can find The First Years Ignite Stroller for sale on Amazon including FREE Super Saving Shipping – it’ll show up right at your front door – and FREE Returns – if there’s issue contact Amazon!

The First Years is a Learning Curves Brand. Find and “Like” The First Years on Facebook and track them on Twitter @TheFirstYears. You can find and “Like” Learning Curve on Facebook and track them on Twitter @LCToys.

This The First Years Ignite Stroller has been briefly used by Mom Start for this review and will be given to a local baby’s/children’s charity for donation to a family in need with thanks from Mom Start to the Learning Curve Brands and The First Year.

Disney Junior’s Special Agent OSO Whirly Bird Vehicle By Learning Curve Giveaway

May 28, 2011 by Momstart 278 Comments

Special Agent OSO logoWe were just talking about Special Agent Oso the other day, I think Zoe saw an advertisement on one of our computers and said she wanted to watch it. She’s liked it for a while even though we don’t have cable, so she doesn’t get to watch it very often. A few weeks back, Summer wrote that really great Special Agent Oso Rapide Command Center Review? She did a great job describing the show. I think she’s sat through more episodes with her kids than I have with mine. I didn’t even know that oso is the Spanish word for bear.  So, just in case you’re like me and not entirely sure about the premise of the show, it’s on the Disney Channel, it’s a preschool series, it’s starring a really cute teddy bear named Oso. Oso is a clumsy, lovable special agent-in-training under an international organization of stuffed animals, such as his co-agent Wolfie, serving the international agency called U.N.I.Q.U.E. (United Network for Investigating Quite Usual Events) which helps kids accomplish everyday tasks. I think the theme song is catchy and the episodes are educational.

image

We received the Special Agent OSO Whirly Bird by Learning Curve. The Whirly Bird to the rescue is geard for ages 3+ for active imaginations! Kids get to join Special Agent Oso as he soars off to his next extraordinary assignment. One of Miles’ favorite things to do now is to pretend to fly. He loves taking toys and soaring them across the living room as he walks across the room. What’s really cool is that the Special Agent OSO Whirly Bird is equipped with an ejector seat, grappling hook, and spinning propeller, all providing more aspects of FUN! As you can see, the Whirly Bird has all the gear Oso needs to arrive at his destination! Another one of Miles’ favorite aspects of any toy is the ability for it to make sound. He has always loved making as much noise as possible. The magnetic activation point triggers electronic sounds and character voices from the show! The Special Agent Oso Whirly Bird Vehicle is available at Toys R Us for $24.99 and on Amazon the Special Agent OSO – Whirly Bird retails for 19.54.

You can learn more about Learning Curve and the outstanding name brand toys and other products they offer on their website and like Learning Curve on Facebook and follow them on Twitter @LCToys. To learn more about Special Agent Oso check out Dinsey Junior online or catch episodes on the Disney Channel – weekdays at 6:30/5:30c (a.m.) and 1/12c (p.m.), and weekends at 7:30/6:30c (a.m.). Chuggington Wooden Railway Over & Under Starter Set Giveaway

May 22, 2011 by Momstart 180 Comments

I have a little Chuggington Chugger on my hands now. Somehow my son knows all the names of the trains, ok, I know how, he is addicted to watching Chuggington. We received the Chuggington Wooden Railway Over & Under Starter Set from Learning Curve and just the anticipation of opening the box made his day. Wilson and Koko, a boy and a girl train both come in this wooden starter set and that was PERFECT for Zoe and Miles! (Zoe loves the Koko is purple)

image

Boys and trains, trains and boys, they just go together like peanut butter and jelly. If it’s got wheels, it’s in his hands and everything is a track, so it’s nice for mom when he has a track to actually play on. Plus this wooden track is so easy for him to put together and build his own circles that when the original shape happens to come apart, I don’t hear Mommy, Come fix it for me all day long. He’s content to play on his own.

image

I helped him assemble it the first time.

image

As far as wooden train sets go, I would have to say that the Chuggington Wooden Railway Over & Under Starter Set is a great value. The set comes with 25 pieces, one of them being a clock tower creating an two level play area for the kids to enjoy. The two train engines, Wilson and Koko are also wooden, it’s perfect for ages 3 and up, just right up Miles’ alley.

image

Of course it’s great for little girl Chuggers too!

image

The Chuggington Wooden Railway features a series of robust, brightly colored engines, starter train sets and innovative modular buildings and tunnels all constructed with classic, high-quality wood. Learning Curve was quite smart, or kind to parents I say when they made the decision to make the Chuggington Wooden Railway expandable and compatible with all other major wooden railway toys. Thank you Learning Curve!

Disney Junior’s Special Agent OSO Rapide Command Center Toy By Learning Curve

March 20, 2011 by Momstart 5 Comments

Special Agent OSO logo

My kids love to watch Disney Junior’s Special Agent Oso. He’s O-So special, just like your children. Now their toys can be O-So special with the new Special Agent Oso R.R. Rapide Command Center from Learning Curve.

If you’ve never seen Special Agent Oso (oso is the Spanish word for bear) on the Disney Channel, it’s a preschool series starring a teddy bear named Oso who is a clumsy, lovable special agent-in-training. Oso is training under an international organization of stuffed animals, such as his co-agent Wolfie, serving the international agency called U.N.I.Q.U.E. (United Network for Investigating Quite Usual Events) which helps kids accomplish everyday tasks. During his missions Oso enlists the help of viewers at home to complete his special assignments — such as making a sandwich, catching the school bus, and conservation — using three simple steps. Each completed mission is rewarded with a Digi Medal which Oso stores in his electronic Paw-Pilot. R.R. Rapide was recently introduced as Oso’s main form of transportation; Rapide is a high-speed railroad car with a big personality. Each Special Agent Oso episode is cleverly named after or in the likeness of James Bond films.

IMG_0791Special Agent OSO Rapide Command Center

The Special Agent Oso R.R. Rapide Command Center from Learning Curve features Rapide, Wolfie, and Oso. Rapide extends to over 3 feet in length and included a launch pad for Wolfie on his motorcycle. Rapide also includes 2 jet packs with an automatic jet pack loader, elevating captain’s chair, front hatch automatic opening ONLY for Oso, lights and sounds, and a collectable Digi Medal.

This is a super fun toy. I love that Rapid is interactive with Oso and that there are so many moving parts. I also love that there is more than one action figure, vehicle and jetpack; you get two action figures – Oso and Wolfie with a detachable jetpack each – and two vehicles a motorcycle and Rapide the train. For your value this is a great play date or siblings toy as you don’t have to purchase add-ons if you don’t want to since this toy offers so much. This is a great buy and a great value for hours of continuous play.

The SRP is $39.99 and Target stores should have the product in stock, but I also found Special Agent OSO R.R. Rapide Command Center at Toy R Us for a higher price and Special Agent OSO R.R. Rapide Command Center on Amazon for a cheaper price. You can also enter your zip code into the Learning Curve site and find a dealer near you].

Learning Curve Daisy Green Way Interactive Camper and Accessories Christmas Gift Idea and #giveaway

November 4, 2009 by Momstart 442 Comments

Learning Curve sent my family the Daisy Greenway Interactive Camper. My kids started screaming, can  we open it, open it mommy, ooh is it a toy can we have it, let’s play with it.

No, No, No,…

So I threw it in the closet and that is where it still is. Why?

Daisy is the perfect Christmas Present for both of my kids if you ask me.

daisy2Daisy has a pull-out cabin, is purple and has little people that can be carried around and put in and out of the cabin and the cabin has wheels and can roll. The cabin has bunk beds with a movable slide, a bathroom, a kitchen, a dog feeding station, a pull-down TV, removable captain’s chairs, and a flip-down grill. It is so much to do all wrapped up into one toy.

image Daisy Greenway encourages caring for our big, green earth by rewarding earth-friendly behavior through magical electronic feedback that is activated by the steering wheel horn. Take a road trip with family and friends, and explore our big green world!

We were also sent two other play sets to use with the camper that included people and more animals.

caringcritterThe Caring for Critters play set includes a girl doll, a rescue station, a doctor’s bag, a bunny, a turtle, birds in a nest, and bandage labels.  My daughter is going to flip when she gets to open this on Christmas morning. She loves animals and little girls. She carries little plastic dolls around with her everywhere and all these accessories are the perfect size for her purple purse.

babyswingWe also received the Sweet Tree Swing.  It came with a baby in a little swing.  This will be another favorite with my daughter she loves babies. Everything is a mommy, memaw or a baby and sometimes everything is a baby because she wants to nurture it. I just can’t wait until Christmas to get the real smiles and giggles out of my children from these toys.

All of the sets sold separately on the Learning Curve site.

Learning Curve is also setting aside the same package for one of my lucky readers.

Lamaze Space Symphony Motion Gym Review, Donation and #Giveaway

October 17, 2009 by Momstart 351 Comments

I have been contacting companies for donations for the Holidays and for a fundraiser for my MOMS Club. Lamaze sent me one of the Lamaze Space Symphony Motion Gyms to review and use as a donation. Lamaze is one of the companies owned by Learning Curve. I love Learning Curve! I think when my kids start school I’m going to go back into retail part time so I can play with kids toys all day long. I love selling educational toys and Lamaze is the Baby educational toy king.

Activity Gyms are wonderful to help children develop from age 0.  The bright colors help them learn to focus, the hanging toys motivate them to reach. They are motivated to roll over and mimic sounds. They learn to smile and interact with their reflection in the mirror. The toys that hang can come off and become luvies or chewies. And in my opinion you can never have enough chews for teething. My kids did both chewing and loving with theirs. This is one of THE MOST used items we had with our kids in the baby stage. They are machine washable and easy to clean and last through more than one child. The Lamaze Gym goes together in seconds and folds up for storage and travel just as easily. We no longer need one so we are donating this one, which was agreed on with the sponsor.

lamazespacesymphonymotiongym

Product Description:

The Lamaze Space Symphony Motion Gym is loaded with features for baby to explore. Motorized arches sway back and forth to bring the hanging toys to life. Modes include motion with music, or with white noise. Gym has a soft mat with bright space graphics and pattern arms. Features include five pillow characters with ribbons, rattle, jingle, squeaker, crinkle, and a tummy time mirror. Features are removable for on-the-go, or attach to the mat.

  • Quick-snap bars for easy assembly
  • Fun space-themed music engages baby as the bars gently sway
  • Rocket toy jingles, crinkles and "soars" when linked to the moving bars
  • Ten developmental features
  • Four space characters have high-contrast faces and fun sounds to get baby smiling

    ·  90 Day Limited Warranty

Lamaze was generous enough to also provide one for giveaway to one lucky reader.
