How Zoe’s Addiction to Her Nails Spread with Klutz Nail Art #KlutzBooks

November 15, 2012 by Momstart 9 Comments

With The six water-based, non-toxic, peel-off paints, girls like Zoe can decorate their nails with any design imaginable bumblebees, berries, butterflies, bears, and baseballs…and that’s just the beginning. From apples to zigzags, there’s something here to please even the most finicky fingertips and her were never finicky.

Klutz contacted me asking if I wanted to be a Holiday ambassador and offered me a list to choose from on that list was the Klutz Nail Art book. I NEEDED this book so I could be more creative in painting her nails. Usually it’s just enough for me to get her nails painted at all, I mean, it’s hard for me to put everything that I’m working on down to paint her nails. TERRIBLE I know, but having this book has made it easier. I’m inspired when I can be creative. I LOVE ART!

IMG_6335

So I made candy corn nails on her toes. There were a lot of Halloween options in the Nail Art book, actually there were options for everything. Christmas, stripes, and anything under the sun, the sun included.

IMG_6328

To Make the candy corn,

Apply a Yellow strip of polish

Apply a orange/red strip of polish

Apply a White tip to each nail

Then she painted her grandmother’s toes and I think she did a fantastic job. She’s only five years old.

IMG_6342

She just loves doing her nails, she loves it more than I do, but with these paints I feel comfortable letting her do it herself.

IMG_6339

There are 60 pages recommended for ages 8 and up. The nail polish that comes with the Nail Art kit is easily peeled off. This can be an advantage or disadvantage, depending on your point of view. It does make changing the nail fashions quicker and easier. The polish was a good consistency for nail artwork though. We had so much fun.

Fingerprint Fabulous & The Most Amazing Thumb Doodles Book #KlutzBooks

November 8, 2012 by Momstart 10 Comments

Again, like I mentioned last month I went overboard when it came to KlutzBooks and purchased more than they sent me to review. I purchased the Fingerprint Fabulous and The Most Amazing Thumb Doodles Book for Miles and Zoe. Why? Because I knew it would spark creativity in both of my kids. They started creating mermaids, robots and crazy stories and names for their creations. Then they started getting super duper silly with the giggles and had a great time for a few hours of creating.

Miles made awesome robots

IMG_6706

And vegetables.

IMG_6704

And Zoe made Mermaids

IMG_6693

And dogs, creative dogs
IMG_6694
And of course we had lots of very dirty fingers!

IMG_6699

IMG_6698

In this video Miles and Zoe show off their creations and why they like doing art projects and crafts.

We purchased these two books.

imageFingerprint Fabulous is a glamorous take on one of our favorite art forms: thumbprint drawing. We provide three ink pads — purple, green, and, of course, pink — plus a black felt-tip pen. And really that’s all you need to transform ordinary fingerprints into pretty kitties, poodle puppies, hairstyles, butterflies, a festive squad of cheerleaders, and more. Inside the book, along with our legendary instructions and inspiration, we include four tear-out greeting cards, glitter glue, and 100 tiny sequins.

Comes With: 3 ink pads (pink, purple, green), 1 black marker pen, glitter glue, sequins, tear-out greeting cards

imageThe Most Amazing Thumb Doodles Book

Create awesome artwork with your thumb as a paintbrush and ink pads as paint. For the finishing touch, add some personality with a few pen strokes. All these tools (except the fingers) come with the book in a convenient, reclosable, storage case. And when your thumbs need a rest, give your other digits a chance: play Finger Four Square or Tic Tac Toe — now with real toes!

Comes With: 4 ink pads ( blue, orange, green, purple), 1 black marker pen

Working Klutz Books into our Educational Curriculum #KlutzBooks

September 24, 2012 by Momstart 19 Comments

We’ve just recently decided to take Miles out of preschool and keep him home for this year which means, I’m teaching him at home. He’s already learned his ABC’s colors, numbers and shapes and it’s my job to makes sure he remembers all those things he learned and try to take him a step further. Plus I want to give him a lot of enriching experiences at home and Klutz books help me do just that. IMG_5936

As you may know, I recently became a Klutz Books Brand ambassador and they sent me six different books that I can use with both of my children and we already have two other boos in our Klutz library. I have a feeling we have another one somewhere but I couldn’t find it in the mess known as my son’s closet. I can over a wide assortment of subjects.

IMG_5967

Math Science and Dexterity:

IMG_5975

Gotcha Gadgets
Star Wars Folded Flyers
Fashion Forms

Art and Home Economics:

IMG_5939

Spiral Draw
Nail Art
Marvelous Book of Magical Horses
Kids Cooking  – We have been cooking out of the Kids Cooking cookbook for years now and it’s so much fun. Both of my children have such a love for helping in the kitchen and it includes clean up and I couldn’t be happier.

IMG_5971

A Parent’s Perspective:

The thing I’ve noticed most about the kids’ experiences using the Klutz books is that they don’t realize they are learning anything. They are creating, using their imaginations, and retaining information through experience and fun. Plus each book or single activity in the book keeps them busy for about an hour, for Zoe, I think she could spend all day playing with the Magical Horses. I’ve always wanted to get her a set of paper dolls and now she has paper dolls and paper horses. Miles keeps asking a lot of question, and his dexterity has improved a great deal. I can tell because he can actually make really great cuts in the paper used to create the Star Wars Folded Flyers!

Have A Big Klutz Holiday

November 15, 2010 by Momstart 231 Comments

With my husband sitting right next to me as I’m posting this, he asked, if Klutz is still popular? Yep, they are still popular. I saw a smart mom on an airplane just last week using Klutz to keep her kids busy. Klutz is such a fun company making great activity books. Some of them are perfect to take on an airplane to keep your child busy for hours. Others are just great for a rainy day activity. I’m amazed at how many different craft ideas and other fun projects they come up with. Not only do they get the attention of children but they also reach adults with some of their funny books. I like looking through one every now and then! My husband just said he liked them as a kid too, which is super cool that clip_image001[4]Klutz is generationally fun!

I’ve been enjoying different Klutz books for a few years now. They make all kinds of activity books for ages 4 and up, but I’ve let my kids play with a few of them and my kids are 2 and 1. The Only Coloring Puzzle Game, Dot-to-Dot Activity Book that I won 2 years ago was quite the winner with my daughter.

So any Klutz activity book is in my Christmas Guide this year. Keeps the kids minds active and off the TV.

November 18, 2009 by Momstart 4 Comments

Klutzdotcom_BristleBotsCoverThe final book in the donation series from Klutz is Invasion of the Bristlebots. With this book you can create the ultimate maze rat, or just your own creepy crawly critter. Yikes get mom running for the hills when you set your little creation on the loose. This craft book makes activity time seem like play time for the little boy in your life. It is a great learning tool, allowing also for creativity and ingenuity. I heart Klutz.. This does not magically make your children want to brush their teeth, but will make youngsters feel that they should put all the pieces in their mouth. So don’t let your toddler play with it. 😉
