Kashi Soft-Baked Squares – A Healthy Cookie?!? YES!

June 30, 2012 by Momstart 11 Comments

By Savannah

If you ask anyone who knows me, I am one of those girls who could eat sweets ALL the time. I mean, what’s better for breakfast than some Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream? Okay, maybe I could go for the donuts instead, but the catch is being healthy with your sweets. As a girl with a sweet tooth, who is also trying to be healthy, finding a snack that satisfies both needs can be frustrating. But, I think Kashi may have found a match for me.IMG_4765 (2)

Kashi is such a great brand, as I’ve tried several of their cereals and other products, but I am extremely impressed with their new Kashi Soft Baked Squares. These little delights come in two different flavors, Almond and Chocolate. Now, I’m not a huge fan of Almonds, but this snack is so delicious it may have turned me INTO and almond fan. I think it may have something to do with the sweet potatoes or agave syrup they use to give it its flavor, but it is incredible at only 160 calories! Kashi Chocolate Soft-Baked Squares are definitely my favorite, probably because they taste like a homemade brownie. Honestly, I find it hard to choose between the two of them when I reach for my sweet snack in the middle of the day. But what’s the catch? Artificial ingredients? Tons of fat grams? Nope. There is absolutely no catch.

Kashi

Both of these snacks are made with whole grains and contain 4 grams of fiber, which really helps when you’re looking for a snack that both fills you up and tastes good. Their portion size and individual wrapping makes them great for people on the go, or to pack for a sweet, nutritious snack for your kid! To top it all off, Kashi Soft-Baked Squares are made with no synthetic colors and artificial flavors, preservatives and sweeteners and no high fructose corn syrup.

Kashi’s mission is to “change healthy eating from effort to enjoyment,” and I do believe they have accomplished that with the Kashi Soft-Baked Squares. I highly recommend picking one of these up at your local grocer the next chance you get to satisfy that craving in a nutritious way. J

Kashi Go Lean Crisp Cinnamon Crumble Cereal Review

April 19, 2012 by Momstart 25 Comments

By Summer:

My family had the opportunity to try Kashi GOLEAN Crisp! Cinnamon Crumble. I have to be honest I really didn’t try much as I’m trying to steer away from processed foods including cereals. Let me say however that my husband and sons are not on board with my crazy purchasing habits (though I do the shopping, so they have to deal with it!). The Kashi GOLEAN Crisp! Cinnamon Crumble was gone in only one week. My husband ate a bowl every morning for breakfast and my sons enjoyed it once or twice as a “second breakfast”. [Side note: Do you have little hobbits too, like Lord of the Rings? My sons like to have a breakfast, second breakfast, third breakfast, mid-morning snack, and mid-morning teatime all before lunch!] Needless to say, they all liked it.

IMG_1060

clip_image002Cinnamon Crumble is a new flavor for the Kashi GOLEAN Crisp! line which offers “naturally sweetened multigrain clusters” with 10 grams of protein, 9 grams of fiber, and 20 grams of whole grain per serving so “you stay fuller longer”. With this you also get 10 grams of sugar per serving; a serving is ¾ cup and with 15 ounces per box there are about 8 servings per container. The ingredients consist of whole grain oats, evaporated can juice crystals, soy protein concentrate, wheat sticks (whole wheat flour, Kashi seven whole grains and sesame flour [whole: oats, hard red wheat, rye, brown rice, triticale, barley, buckwheat, sesame seeds], calcium carbonate), brown rice syrup, chicory root fiber, soy grits, expeller pressed canola oil, yellow corn flour, soy protein isolate, cinnamon, oat fiber, baking soda, natural flavor, evaporated salt, mixed tocopherols for freshness, soy lecithin.

If you’re a person on the go and don’t have time to make a whole foods breakfast then an option such as the Kashi GOLEAN Crisp! Cinnamon Crumble is a great “grab and go” choice compared to scrambling eggs with diced vegetables, or making oatmeal or granola. Kashi is a better brand than General Mills or Kellogg with their Frosted Flakes and Lucky Charms! I also like Nature’s Path Organics.IMG_1063

Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal #giveaway

March 8, 2010 by Momstart 154 Comments

HeroThanks to Vocalpoint and Kashi, I received coupons for Kashi cereal. We’re all stocked up on cereal right now at my house so I couldn’t possibly buy anymore. I have one set to give to charity and friends and I have one set that I want to giveaway.

I’ve tried it and can eat the whole box by myself, it’s not too sweet, and has flavor. I like it better than eating plain cheerios. I always add sugar to my plain cheerios. I’ve only tried the Warm Cinnamon Oat, but their Heart to Heart Cereal comes in two other flavors.

Every Box of Heart to Heart includes 6 natural antioxidants:

Vitamin C

Vitamin E

Beta Carotene

Green Tea Extract

White Tea Extract

Grape Seed Extract

For Heart to Heart cereals: Diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol that include 3 grams of soluble fiber per day from whole grain oats may reduce the risk of heart disease. One serving of Heart to Heart cereal provides 1 gram of this soluble fiber. For Heart to Heart crackers: Foods containing at least .4 grams of plant sterols per serving, eaten twice a day with meals for a daily total of at least .8 grams, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.

**Heart to Heart cereals and crackers are low in sodium and may help reduce the risk of high blood pressure as part of a low sodium diet.

Kashi Heart To Heart Crackers and a snack Coupon

September 24, 2009 by Momstart 2 Comments

HeroKashi Sent me two boxes of their natural Heart to Heart Crackers. I found that they were very flavorful. Now, I will be honest with you and tell you that my family did not like them. My kids ate them just fine because they don’t get a choice when it comes to what I serve them, but their aunt, grandma and grandfather did not like them. Why?

Because you could taste natural flavors and not salt. I tasted grapes and olives. Odd combination yes but interesting at the same time.  It’s like my family’s bodies couldn’t handle eating something wholesome. Out of the two flavors they sent, Heart to Heart Original Crackers and Heart to Heart Roasted Garlic, I did like the garlic flavor more. I love garlic.

Another healthy snack to feed my children. Kashi Sunshine Cereal Coupon
