Hudson’s Beyblade Metal Fusion Nintendo DS Giveaway

April 14, 2011 by Momstart 149 Comments

Hudson sent us a copy of Beyblade Metal Fusion for Nintendo DS a few months ago and it’s still sitting on my table to be reviewed unopened. So I’ve been trying to decide what to do with it. I’ve finally made a decision. Thursday’s are the day that I list a lot of giveaways and I’ve just decided to give this away too. DS games are hard for me to review because it’s hard for me to get a turn with what the kids call the red computer, AKA the Nintendo DS. Plus, my husband takes it to work with. Check out the product description from Hudson:

Fans of the hit animated action TV series BEYBLADE:  Metal Fusion will not have to wait long for their chance to be recognized among the top Beyblading champions from the show.  Hudson Entertainment, the North and South American subsidiary of HUDSON SOFT, will bring BEYBLADE: Metal Fusion – Battle Fortress to Wii™ this holiday season along with BEYBLADE: Metal Fusion for the Nintendo DS™ family of hand-held systems.

The action is more thrilling than ever with BEYBLADE:  Metal Fusion – Battle Fortress for Wii.  The game features a complete game-specific story with the original characters from the show.  Players find themselves in the midst of a disappearance of the world’s most powerful Beybladers.  Sucked into a giant fortress, players must battle robot bladers and discover the mystery behind the abduction.

BEYBLADE:  Metal Fusion – Battle Fortress is equipped with four-player “Battle Mode” competition allowing players to face off against three other human or AI controlled enemies, or play co-operatively with allies.  By using the Wii Remote™, players can save and carry the blades created to friends’ houses for competition.  With customizable stadiums, players can choose from a variety of terrains and shapes for battle.  Players will also have the chance to become the No. 1 Beyblader by utilizing special attacks and winning strategies.  The television series from Nelvana and d-rights Inc. launched in Canada in May 2010 on YTV and debuted in the United States on Cartoon Network in June.

BEYBLADE: Metal Fusion – Battle Fortress and BEYBLADE: Metal Fusion will be shown at San Diego Comic-Con International from July 22-25, 2010 alongside Konami Digital Entertainment titles in Booth 3713.

Hudson Entertainment Double Feature #Giveaway Deca Sports 3 and Oops Prank Party

November 3, 2010 by Momstart 254 Comments

Hudson Entertainment creates fun games for Wii that are geared towards young children. Which is the whole reason we purchased the Wii in the first place. My husband and I were looking for games that he and I could play together that didn’t take a lot of gamer skill. I’m not a masterful gamer even though I have played some pretty intense games. I really enjoy these fun games and I like using the Wiimotes even though I stink at it and sometimes it drives me crazy but I still enjoy it. I know I’m really weird I can complain and say I like something at the exact time. Don’t worry, my husband has trouble understanding me too. Winking smile

We received Oops Prank Party and Deca Sports 3 from Hudson Entertainment. Deca Sports 3 appeals more to the children because they have been watching and trying to play Deca Sports 2 for almost a year now. We have Deca Sports 2 on the Nintendo DS. Zoe has been playing it and making her team the purple team. Oops Prank Party appeals to me with the puzzles and problem solving. I get addicted to games like that. My favorite mode would probably have to be board mode but I also like free play.

Both Deca Sports 3 and Oops Prank party have been recognized for their positive impact on children by the 2010 National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) Children’s Products competition, a program sponsored by Dominion Parenting Media and promoted in association with parenting publishers across the United States. Published by Hudson Entertainment, the North and South American subsidiary of HUDSON SOFT, DECA SPORTS 3 and Oops! Prank Party are Honors winners in the 2010 NAPPA Children’s Products competition. The original DECA SPORTS won the Gold Award of the 2008 NAPPA Children’s Products competition. To date, the DECA SPORTS series has sold over four million units worldwide.

imageAbout Oops Prank Party:

“Oops! Prank Party represents the latest and greatest of Hudson’s long history of party games, but with a wacky new twist,” said Dai Kudo, Director of Consumer Products for Hudson Entertainment. “Families and friends will find that they have much to laugh at – each other – with Oops! Prank Party’s wide variety of pranks and costumes.”

Oops! Prank Party even makes losing fun with embarrassing costumes and pranks for the mini-game winner to assign to any losing player, who will be stuck in the silly costume for the duration of the game.  With unlockable levels and one of the most robust avatar creators in a party game, players can put their personality directly into the game, including more than 500 avatar customization elements.

Oops! Prank Party features four play modes to get the party started: Master mode invites up to three players to try and best the master computer player in a series of challenges. Board mode puts a spin on gameplay by placing players on one of seven boards in a race for points. Free Play mode gives players total reign to build their own competition from unlocked games while Trial mode seeks to find the best competitor in different game mixes.

Features:

  • Tackle the Master mode with up to 3 players to best the Master computer opponent! Take your pick from 9 party game mixes and work together as a team to best the Master.
  • Board mode puts a spin on the gameplay by placing up to four players on your pick of 4 board types. Play an assortment of different games as you cross the board competing for who has the most Gold medals at the end!
  • Free Play mode gives the player free reign to construct their own party game playlist based on what games have been unlocked.
  • Trial Mode plays host to a straight forward competition between 4 of your friends or families to see who’s got the best skills in stages already played in the Master Mode!
  • Featuring one of the most robust avatar creators in a party game, you’ll be able to create your onscreen personality to play as throughout the game
  • Play through an incredibe mix of 100 games designed for multiplayer wackiness!

Game Night Video Game Giveaway 3 Titles

May 1, 2010 by Momstart 1,410 Comments

Video games are a huge past time in this house, my husband and I get a great kick out of playing video games together after the kids go to bed. We play all kinds of games and are willing to try anything new. So when we receive new games to play we get quite excited. Hudson Entertainment released Rooms the Main Building to DS and Wii and they sent me a copy of both to review. Last December Warner Brother Games sent me Game Party 3 and Screenlife sent me Scene It? Bright Lights! Big Screen. Today, I’m giving a copy of all three games away to one lucky reader.

About Rooms the Main Building:

The Introduction:

There is a boy and he finds a gift. When he opens the gift it transports him to a new world and he runs into the book. The book is his guide and is going to help him reach the exit. The kid just wants to go back home but follows the instructions hoping to get done soon.

The Play:

The object is to get to the final room. It’s a puzzle game, you have to find a key to unlock rooms and then go from puzzle piece to puzzle piece until you can get to the exit. Each level adds a stage of difficulty and objects get in the way.

There are things to help you along the way but to continue to gain these you have to defeat more levels. With each level you get to a new room and closer to the exit. Just remember, if you enter a room with water in it you will drown. I died very quickly because I wasn’t thinking and entered a room full of water. The game is very addictive, once you start it is hard to put down.

Features

•    Designed for Nintendo: Point and Click Controls that are perfect for the Nintendo Wii Remote™ and the Nintendo DS Stylus™.
•    Play inside of intuitive and amusing rooms as you use objects and your wits to escape from it.
•    Over 100+ rooms to go through as you make your way through the buildings of this mystifying world.
•    Includes a Level Editor to create your own levels!

Platform Specific Features:

Wii

Two player competition.  Square off against another player: Items in rooms are placed so that you are racing against the opponent as they try to exit the room first. Players cannot enter the opponent’s area but the exit for both players is the same. This is quite intense, or rather it can be a lot of fun if played with the right person.

DS

Create AND share your levels: You have all the objects necessary to build your level from the beginning. Brag about the quality of the levels you’ve created by sharing them with your friends! I love the creativity you can enjoy with this.

Deca Sports DS Review

March 19, 2010 by Momstart 4 Comments

Hudson Entertainment sent us Deca Sports to review on the DS

DecaSports The beloved Deca Sports franchise is back in action and on the Nintendo DS for the first time!  Hudson Entertainment’s Deca Sports DS is now available in stores everywhere for $29.99.  Deca Sports DS makes ten all new sports, including golf, cheerleading, arm wrestling and clay shooting, more accessible than ever with multiplayer functionality and customizable teams.

My three year old daughter finds Deca Sports a lot easier to play than Mario World on the DS. She is able to play some of the games after we show her how. I think her favorite was the golf, rugby, cheerleading, sky diving, ping pong, wall climbing, arm wrestling, bobsled, sepak takraw and finally clay shooting. Oh wait, she likes them all. The characters are children and cartoonish. I think that and the music appeals to her. It’s also the touch screen movement that makes play easier for her to do. She can try a bunch of different things and eventually gets it to do what she wants. Kids learn so fast these days.

DecaSports1

I was terrible at Ping Pong and ok at Arm Wrestling. I really enjoyed Sky diving and Bobsled even though I always came in about third when I tried the bobsledding.

About Golf:

Golf gives you complete control, grab your diver or the club you want and get the shot you desire. By using the stylus you have the control you need for the power you want.

About Rugby:

While playing Rugby I was wondering if this really is a gentlemen’s sport. I mean it seems some play pretty rough. Good think it’s on a video game.

rugby

About cheerleading:

cheerleading

About Sky Diving:

You pick your team and then you jump out of an air plane. On your way down you have to move into formation. Then you have to make sure you are facing the correct direction. You race to get as many done as you can before the time runs out.

About Ping Pong:

I completely sucked at ping pong. I could hit it back but I would get skunked whenever it was my turn to serve. pingpong

About Wall Climbing:

Wall climbing is a race. I love races and using the stylus was easier in this one than in some of the others. You guide your person up the wall from point to point.

About Arm Wrestling:

Arm wrestling was another one that I was ok at. I found it difficult to determine which type of movement I was supposed to do for what. I do enjoy the thrill of winning though when I did accidentally defeat my opponent.

About Bobsled:

During the Bobsled run you have to make sure you take those turns as fast and safely as you can. You steer with the L and R buttons and watch the edges as they’ll only slow you down. I had a hard time figuring out how to handle the turns but I still really enjoyed it.

About Sepak Takraw:

This is a game I had never heard of before now. It’s like volley ball but you get to kick. You get to use your feet, knees, chest, and head to hit the ball over the net.

About Clay Shooting:

I would have to say that I like clay shooting too even though I didn’t mention it above. I have always loved games where I get to shoot something.

Rooms: the main building Preview

March 4, 2010 by Momstart 1 Comment

Thanks to Fortyseven Communications on behalf of Hudson Entertainment I received a demo copy of Rooms for the Wii. I popped it in and gave it a shot. This is my preview:

Game Description:

Rooms_Titlesheet_Licensee In Rooms, players use various items and the guidance of their host, Mr. Book, to navigate a series of surreal mansions.  With the right combination of intellect, strategy and various objects, players must carefully shift pieces in the current room around, in a manner similar to slide puzzles, to keep moving forward.  Players are also rewarded with a bonus if the background is placed correctly.  With more than 100 rooms and a level editor to create even more, players will be enjoying their own unique puzzle adventure for ages to come.

rooms1

rooms2

Rooms: the main building launches March 23 for the Wii and DS for $29.99.

Playing the Game:

Rooms took me a little bit to get into. I felt like the introduction was just a little bit too long. I had to keep hitting the A button to continue the conversation.

There will be more options for play but they are locked down until later in March.

My Thoughts:

As I stated above, I didn’t like the feel of the introduction and almost put the game down. I’m happy that I didn’t though because I love puzzle games. I’m addicted to puzzle games. You know, I would be playing puzzle games all day long if only I didn’t have children or a life. My other thoughts are that this would be better on the DS, and it is available on the DS in addition to the Wii. I would prefer the closer screen and smaller play area for this game. I would also be interested in testing out the level editor. That sounds like a whole lot of fun.

Platform Specific Features:

Two player competition.  Square off against another player: Items in rooms are placed so that you are racing against the opponent as they try to exit the room first. Players cannot enter the opponent’s area but the exit for both players is the same

DS

Create AND share your levels: You have all the objects necessary to build your level from the beginning. Brag about the quality of the levels you’ve created by sharing them with your friends!

Diner Dash on Xbox Live

December 14, 2009 by Momstart 87 Comments

The Xbox Live Arcade is steadily growing in popularity. The number of games that you can download and play boggles my mind. You can write and sell your own games on Xbox live if you have the know how. I was recently given the opportunity to download and play Diner Dash.

Product Description:

Diner Dash comes to life in 3D on next generation consoles when players have the option to take direct control of Flo as she runs around to seat patrons, take orders, deliver food, receive payment and bus tables as efficiently as possible within the time limit allowed.  Players fond of the traditional control schemes may also use a point-and-click style with hotkeys to aid Flo in her quest for customer satisfaction, which is reflected in a heart meter that empties as customers lose patience.  If the meter empties completely, then the customer will leave the restaurant.  Servers looking to play with co-workers can join with up to seven other players in multiplayer across four diners in Team Dash or go 1 on 1 in head-to-head mode.

The nice thing about Diner Dash and a lot of other arcade games is that you can download the free trial. Go to the Game Marketplace on your dashboard, and then to Explore Game Content, then Arcade. From there you can browse in the Arcade menu and put in "d" to search. You will need to scroll down to find Diner Dash. Then you have the option to purchase or try it out.

Features:

· Top-down action viewpoint inside one of five diners, with 10 levels in each.

· Seat patrons, take their order, deliver their food, take their payment, and bus their table as efficiently as possible and within the time limit allowed.

· Customer satisfaction is reflected in a heart meter that empties as customers lose patience. If the meter empties completely, they will leave the restaurant. Remember, service with a smile!

Backbone Entertainment and Hudson Entertainment, Inc. sent me a code for the game to review. The only problem with downloading games from the arcade is inserting the codes. 😉 Once you get past the code everything is easy. Diner Dash is about taking care of customers, but instead of doing one thing you are in charge of it all at the same time. Wish I had a pair of skates like in Ratatouille. The pace is fast and challenges me just enough to keep playing, not being frustrated but interested. You seat people, take their orders, deliver the food, give them the check and clean the table. You can play mutli-player locally or on-line. It’s hard to find games locally multi-player for my husband and I, nut it is quick games like these that he uses to increase his gamer points.

Backbone Entertainment and Hudson Entertainment are providing three diner dash download codes and aprons to go with them.
