How to Have a Disney Planes Party – Disney Planes NOW Available on DVD
DVD and party supplies provided by Disney. Content, ideas, and opinions ALL my own.
This summer, we took Atticus to his first movie theater movie, Disney’s Planes. I knew that we could count on Disney for a great first movie experience. Not to mention, he absolutely loves things that fly. It’s no shock that every day now involves some sort of plane race in our house. When I had the opportunity to review the Blu-Ray/DVD and have an “around the world party” to celebrate with supplies all provided by Disney, I could not have been more excited!
So how do you have a Disney Planes party?
The whole premise of Planes revolves around an amazing around the world race. What better way to involve kids in the movie than to use a map! Using a map, you can help children of all ages locate the different stops that good ol’ Dusty Crophopper makes along the way. Simply use push pins to mark each location. Then, for added fun, use string or yarn to connect it all create a visual reference for the race route. Obviously younger children will need a little more help with all of this, but Atticus is 3 years old and absolutely loves maps. I’ve heard from several other moms about kids loving maps too, so it’s definitely a great party add on.
Build and Race Gliders
I think that any child who loves Planes automatically loves building and racing planes. That’s why building some small wooden gliders is a great way to celebrate. These small models are fairly inexpensive and can be found pretty easily. They are not very sturdy, so I would make sure that you use your own discretion as to whether or not they are age appropriate for various kids. Atticus had a blast launching his glider through the hallway. He’s now named it “Ripslinger” and uses it to reenact some of his favorite movie scenes.
Watch the Movie!
There’s nothing like snuggling up on the couch to watch your favorite movie. Now that Disney’s Planes is now available in a Blu-Ray DVD Combo pack, it’s definitely one that you can add to your home movie collection. Even the extras on this DVD are wonderful. They include the individual character cartoons and some great stories from behind the making of the film. I also loved the chance to see a preview for the next installment from Dusty and the gang: Planes: Fire and Rescue. Disney was also nice enough to send us a kids’ flight cap from the Disney Store which is apparently exactly what you’re supposed to wear when watching Planes. It’s a great gift for the little future pilots in your family too!
Disney’s Planes Available on Blu-Ray/DVD at most retailers November 19.
