Does your family love Cinnabon as much as we do? It’s a treat that we don’t often get, since we live in a small town 2 hours away from the nearest Cinnabon shop. Fortunately, Cinnabon has a line of home products that you can enjoy anywhere, including a Cinnabon Baking Kit which you can use to create your own copycat Cinnabon rolls at home! I love to bake, so I whipped up a double batch to take to a couple of parties earlier this month – and let me tell you what, if you want to be a hit at a party, bring a plate of homemade Cinnabon! Here’s how to make your own:
Homemade Cinnabon Rolls
Ingredients:
1 Cinnabon Baking Kit – includes dough mix, cinnamon & sugar filling, yeast and frosting
1 stick plus 1/4 C butter
1 cup warm milk
1 egg
Flour for dustingDirections:
In a stand mixer, add the Cinnabon Dough Mix, yeast packet, and egg. Add 1/4 C of butter to a small bowl, melt in the microwave, then pour into the dough mixture. Warm the milk in the microwave and then add to the other ingredients. Using the dough hook attachment, mix on low for 2 minutes until the dough comes together. Increase speed to medium low and continue mixing for an additional 3 to 5 minutes until a soft, slightly sticky dough ball has formed. (If you don’t have a stand mixer, you can mix and knead by hand instead.)
Dust the counter with flour, and roll the dough ball out into a 16″ x 16″ square, dusting with flour as needed.
Spread the stick of softened butter over the dough using a spatula, then top with the Cinnabon Cinnamon Sugar Filling, patting gently to adhere filling to butter as needed.
Roll the dough up lengthwise into a 16″ log and cut into eight 2″ pieces. Place rolls into a greased 13″ x 9″ baking pan, leaving 1/2″ of space between each roll. Cover rolls loosely and allow to rise in a warm spot for 45-60 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake rolls for 35 to 40 minutes or until tops of rolls turn golden brown and the filling bubbles. Note: My rolls cooked way faster than 35 minutes, so I’d advise checking them every 5 minutes so that they do not burn.
Place rolls onto a wire rack to cool and frost immediately. Cool for 5-10 minutes prior to serving. Makes 8 rolls.
